Workout #6 of 6 for the week is complete!!!!! I put it on paper that I would workout 6 days this week and Woohoo I did it!!!! Worked on calves then 1 hour on elliptical...46 mins on stepmill...over 1000 calories burned. Ended by chillin in the sauna!

Did water aerobics tonight - and don't my thighs tell me I've done some work! The wtaer was cold so you had to keep moving just to keep warm. I tried my best - and made my smile muscles work overtime as well!

Did water aerobics tonight. Quite enjoyed myself - the other ladies there were laughing and enjoying themselves - and very helpful. The instructor was supportive as well - could tell that I wasn't a natural borne swimmer.

It was supposed to be Step this morning but the instructor was ill so onstead this nice lass took us for "Body Conditioning". How I manged to keep going I'm not that sure but I sweated loads and for all but one exercise I kept up.... just. My thighs felt it!

Maybe have a rest day tomorrow!

I cut out at lunch and attacked a treadmill at break neck speed for 30 mins. Then I finished a 25 minute CrossFit style circuit with Burpees, squat cleans, kettles, jerks, and sumo high pulls.

Went to spin and almost passed out. Our club is having air issues in their spinning room and won't let the doors stay open. They also won't let us turn off the lights because the air goes off when the lights are off. In fact, they took the light controls off the wall. Do any of your clubs have this problem?

Just pushed my workout back an hour so I can go out for drinks with some friends from work. A few extra calories but by keeping the appointment with the trainer open I force myself to limit what I eat and drink and will make sure I still get in my daily workout.

First time back to LA Fitness in several days.

I had 45 minutes before closing time, so I went quickly: warmup on the C2 rower and then two laps around a circuit of fixed weight, dumbbell and cable cross, working shoulders with a little bit of chest and arms. Finished up with a set of burpees-to-chinups before they kicked me out.

I have not been to the gym for exactly 1 week. I went there everyday in July up until last week when I hurt my back. I am going to try to go and do a tiny bit of weights and spin class. I was able to run yesterday 5 miles. I've never been in back pain before, and this was horrible!

My abs are soooo sore today! I did a new ab exercise on Tuesday (vertical hip thrusts on the flat bench) and I have been feeling it all day today. Luckily tonight is legs and I will be saving the next ab workout for Saturday.

Monday is always step class. My instructor is phenomenal! Today is weight training and elliptical. Not as much fun but the results of the weight training are so visible I still look forward to it.

15 minute skip rope in the empty studio.

3 trips through a circuit of fixed weights (lower, core and upper)

15 minute resistance stretch.

Still to come: yard work in the heat. Uggh!

Didn't do the circuit. Spent 40 minutes on the treadmill and afterwards just didn't feel like doing any strength training.

Treadmill workout was a challenging one for me: a variation on HIIT. 5 minutes warmup: starting at a walk and ramping up to a light jog. Intervals were 4 minutes at 7.5 mph and 1 minute at 9.5. Did 5 cycles of these. 5 minutes cooldown.

40 minutes total: 5 warmup + 30 intervals + 5 cooldown. Stretched for 15 afterwards. Blew off weights.

Elliptical for warmup and a bit of aerobic exposure, and then an hour with dumbbells working chest and shoulders mostly.

Did cardio earlier in the day, saving resistance/strength training for the evening.

Started with 15 minutes skipping rope to warm up.

Stuck to a chest/shoulders "push/pull" routine on fixed weights (mostly). 3 sets each of 10-12 reps...
- Seated row
- Chest press
- Inclined pulldown
- Inclined press
- Overhead pulldown
- Overhead press
- Upright row (cable cross)
- Dips

Finished up with a bit of stretching.

I missed my Wednesday step class last week because we had a retirement at the office and had an Elvis impersonator come in then went out for drinks. So, I had to make up the missed workout over the weekend.

Sat - step class
Sun - latin impact class, 30 mins elliptical, upper body free weights
Mon - step class
Tues - 30 mins elliptical, upper body with trainer

I joined LA Fitness only to encourage my wife to start using the gym since she was already a member but rarely using it. I have a membership to another gym that's a benefit from my employer and more convenient to use during the work week.

As it turns out, I'm using LA Fitness a lot more than I thought I would. So is my wife, and it's fun to go together. I originally figured I'd mainly use LA Fitness on weekends, but I find more and more usage during the week in the evenings as a second session. I was going to drop the membership after August once my wife had her own momentum going, but now I'm not so sure. I really like the LA Fitness here in my neighborhood.

Anyway, it is the weekend and yesterday I did 45 minutes of manual-program elliptical training, followed by a 15 minute cooldown/stretch and then 35-40 minutes on fixed weights working legs, mainly quads, glutes and hamstrings.

I ran today, which is kind of dumb the day after working hard resistance training on the legs. Felt it too. Going to LA Fitness later this evening with the wife, and planning on an upper body strength session: 10 minute warm-up on a spinning cycle (or C2 rower if the bikes aren't available). Then 3 sets each of...
1. Pec Flys on the Life Fitness machine
2. Delt Flys on the same machine
3. Lateral Raises on the Nautilus machine
4. Dumbbell pullovers on the bench
5. Shoulder shrugs with dumbbells
6. Front shoulder raises with dumbbells
7. Tricep extension on the Flex machine
8. Independent bicep curls on Hammer-Smith machine

6 minutes per exercise (1 minute rest between sets) plus warmup, should take about an hour).

Row machine for 30 minutes - 7000K - did intervals of 2 minutes at moderate intensity and 1 minute at max intensity.

Then spent the last 45 until closing doing press/pull pairs of upper body exercises.

It's nice being there in the evenings. I like the lighter crowd.
