I have the Kathy Smith Kettlebell solution DVD that I am going to start out with tomorrow. I think I will start with a 10 pound dumbbell-I don't have a kettlebell yet.

For motivation: The Swing by Tracy Reifkind. She was over 300 lbs. She's amazing! emoticon Her dvd is a little too advanced for me, but her book is awesome. I bought a little kettlebell and the dvd that came with it is very good for beginners. I think it's a "Biggest Loser" or Bob Harper kb

No need to tell me about them. I've been using them off and on since 2005 and got certified as a Skogg Style trainer in 2010 so I could continue to develop my own knowledge of fitness and kettlebell use.

I'm a long time user of KBs in both the Skogg and RKC sytems, and trying to get back on Spark more too. What weight is your KB?

I watched this promo of Kathy Smith on Youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBFSYQZ_u7k
. From what I see she has a good set of basic stretching and mobility movements and you'll probably break a sweat if you keep a good pace. But if you are looking to do some serious fat burning and muscle toning almost all of these movements are non-typical for kettlebells. Her kettlebells are both under 10lbs/4kg and that lets her do all kinds of things that require serious grip strength with a standard kettlebell and your progress will be stunted if you're putting serious effort into your workouts.

For some good free resources that will introduce you to the swing, clean, snatch, and other foundational kettlebell exercises follow the link below to a thread from the Kettlebell Challenge team.

Along with youtube and other free sites Dragondoor.com is home for the Russian Kettlebell Federation and Skoggkettlebell.com is the site for a trainer who's gym I used to attend.

Most important of all, keep your back straight and have fun swinging away.

Hi, I am new to this team, old to Sparkpeople but haven't been on in like 3 years. I'm ready to start a new program- kettle bells. Now I'm finally fed up enough to get moving. I have the Kathy Smith kettle bell solution has anyone tried it? What can I expect with the DVD set and kettle bells in general.
Thank u,
