I used Koss Porta Pro K1 for many years - they are still available on Amazon for ~$40. Not bad sound, but they are kinda ugly plus the cable tends to break after ~ 5 - 7 years of use, but they do have a lifetime warranty.

I have switched to Trekz AfterShokz Air Open-Ear Wireless Bone Conduction Headphones. A little pricey at$119, but they work surprisingly well and comfortable. Allows you to hear your surroundings. Buds never worked for me - always falling out and over-ear headphones - means you can't hear anything else or chat.

This is the Trekz blurb...

The Trekz Air build is 20% lighter than its counterpart with a new organic design that delivers increased comfort. These wireless stereo headphones are the safest alternative to traditional sport headphones and earbuds. Bone conduction technology, an open ear design and a suite of convenient features deliver premium music play and crystal clear calling without compromise. Designed with athletes in mind, Trekz Air are sweatproof, secure, and will allow you to hear your surroundings - no matter where life takes you.

And which models are you looking - earphones or headphones can be offered? I strongly advise you to contact to foxmusician.com/best-headpho

and read a lot of review-descriptions of big headphones for playing the guitar, even if you dont play. Such models allow you to shake bare and tight to regulate them on the head.

I mostly run with other people so I don't listen to music often. I also have problems with the earbuds falling out and I like to be able to hear cars or whatever around me.

I haven't tried this yet, but it was suggested by another runner to pin the earbuds to a hat so it hangs down near your ear. This could be a cap in the summer and a warmer hat in the winter. That way they don't fall out and you can hear the sounds around you.

I get the cheap Dollar Tree ones because the more expensive ones break just as quickly. They have the ear buds as well as the ones that go around the ear, depending on the store and what happens to be in stock. When I do my long runs with a friend, I use a little mp3 player with a built in speaker and don't use headphones so we are running to the same music.

I have the sony ones too that go over my ears. Is it me or do they break after 3 months? I have had like 3 pairs and the 3 month period comes up and one ear always goes out. For 20 dollar headphones u would think they would stay alive longer.

I also use the Sennheiser sport headphones but mine are lime green and gray. The are designed to not fall out. I could literally stand on my head and these would stay in! I only use these in the warmer months. In the winter months, I use the traditional bud style and keep them in with the headband I use to keep my ears warm.

I use an over-the-ear style, I think they are made by Phillips and you can get them at Target. I think they are about $12. The earbuds that come with the iPod slide right out of my ears, too--they just don't stay put.

Hope that helps!

I have tried them all. Over the ear, expensive ones, etc. The ONLY kind that stay in my ears are the under the ponytail kind. I purchased mine through Amazon for $50.00. They are orange and gray and the brand is Sennheiser. They have a cheaper model for like $20.00 (which I also have-gave to the hubby), but the sound quality on the orange kind is wonderful.

I've been wondering about earphones too. I have ear buds that hook over my ears, but they don't always stay in place. I might have to try a different brand.

I have the hook over you ear type. I got the Sony brand-they were a bit more expensive than the off brands but the sound quality is good and they stay on during even myy long runs without a problem.

I have those $20 Sony headsets. They are very comfortable and they stay in place. I've tried other hook around your ears headsets and they hurt my ears or bug me.

I don't tolerate ear buds very well, so I went to Walmart and bought a $20 pair of Sony headphones. They're very comfortable and sound great, too.

Good luck on finding something that works.

I think I must have deformed ears because I can not get earbuds to stay in even when I am not moving. So I have the geeky hook-over-the-ear type and love them. Got mine at Walmart for about $10

Mine also hook over your ears - and the band wraps around the back of your neck. I've seen these sometimes called 'street' style. And they are not earbuds, but the type that go over your ear. I like the over the ear part better because I feel like earbuds keep out the surrounding noise, and for running on streets I want to be able to hear cars coming.

Used these for years and love them!

Just bought some at Best Buy for $20, it was the only pair they had in that style.

I use the kind that have the hooks that go over your ears... They cost about $10 and you can find them at CVS or Radio Shack...

What headphones do you use that doesn't fall off when you start running faster and sweating. I guess I sweat A Lot! I wear the ear bud kind you stick in your ears and it was fine before but I don't know what's going on. Just wondering. Thank you
