I'm excited about the "Spark into Spring 5K" race that will take place April 10-16th. I have not signed up though, where do you sign up?

I started working towards running a 5k a while back. Last saturday, I was able to job/walk 3miles in 37 minutes. I started blogging about my accomplishments, which was a great accountality check!

After I had the baby, I started walking 30mins a day...minimum...after losing all the weight, I felt ligher and running seemed easier.

What is everyone doing to get into shape???

I am really new to SparkPeople and to this Team. I am really interested in joining the 6K training thing. I started C25K last week. I don't know what the challenge is exactly or when the virtual 5K is supposed to be. I could really use some guidance in how to really get started on the team and SparkPeople in general. There is so much to figure out!

I'm doing the SP 5K Running program. I will be starting the 2nd week tomorrow. I've been running/walking outside, except for yesterday. I was pretty tired so I thought I would try some exercise to pep me up. Decided to dust off the treadmill and gave it a whirl. It worked out pretty good. I walk on 3.5 and run on 6. Do you all know if that's about the right speed on the treadmill? I seem to be completing the daily program in the allotted amount of time....

hey everyone. I thought I would check in and see how the 5k went for everyone! I will be running mine tonight with a friend and fellow sparker. Did a training run last night and it felt amazing. I did 2.55 miles in 30 minutes...so my goal for tonight is 5k..3.1 in 35 minutes! We'll see! Good luck to all!

Yeah, tomorrow is my training run day, Day #1 was cancelled due to inclement weather. When the weather is bad it really does mess with your training. It seems like when you miss one day it is like starting over again. UGH!

Well....I was hoping to run the whole thing but my training hasn't been too great! Been walking a little here and there, but with the weather I haven't been able to get outside and I don't belong to a gym...so no access to a treadmill! But I'm still going to do it. I run a bit so I'm just hoping to complete it in under an hour... jogging and walking.

I decided to use C25K instead of the SP plan. I'm getting ready to start week 3 so i won't i be fully ready for a virtual 5k next week. I am just going to do my best and go from there. I did wk 2 day 3 today... walked on 3.7 and jogged on 5.6. I managed to do 2.3 miles in 29 mins... not too shabby!

I am on Week #6 of the Virtual 5K training schedule. I have already run/walked a 5K on Tuesday. I want to be able to run the whole thing though. How are you all doing on your training and what is your goal? time? run the whole thing? complete the whole thing without medical assistance emoticon emoticon ?

My Goals:

Run the entire 5K emoticon
Complete it in less than 40 minutes emoticon

I've joined the 5K walk/jog plan as well but I am doing more running now than ever. I wasn't sure if I can run the whole thing but the training plan is really helping my stamina. I love it. I just have to work on my time.

Very excited! I am soooo mad...of all times to come down with an annoying sore throat and chest cold...aarrrggh! I was so pumped and motivated to do the training and haven't been able to do cardio in 4 days! I am hoping to recover and be able to run tomorrow. I really want the SparkTrophy for completing the training! Happy training everyone!

Woohoo! Glad to see us mommies going for it! I am very excited thanks Ali for getting us started. I joined the Spark 5k plan yesterday and trained for the first time today... ran/walked for 2 miles! Feel great and am planning on running the majority of the 3.2 miles. This is such a great team with great leaders. I know we can keep each other motivated.

I'm doing it too. I'm usuing the "5k your way" plan from sparkpeople. I started the program on Monday and so far so good. I'm going to be running the Race for the Cure in Indianapolis on April 16th. I'm really excited about it.

I signed up for the race! :) I started couch to 5k training last week. I'm using my runs as my cardio for that day's challenge. Convenient! I did W2D1 this morning, and did just fine increasing the length of my run intervals. I won't be done with training before the race, but I'll be close, so I should be able to jog a good portion of the 5K.

Good luck to all you Ladies!

I joined the team but sooooo haven't got to start my training. We have a 5k trail that runs through town and is just a couple of minutes to walk to from where we live. I am hoping that I can start hitting the trail after my hubby gets home since time changes this weekend and we'll have more daylight! I am going to do the trail during the week we enter our times either way, since I know that I can at least walk it and jog parts. :) Good luck!

Just wanted to let you all know that I just signed up for the Spark into Spring 5K race that will take place April 10-16th. All you have to do is sign up, run the race (route of your choice!) and enter your time in between those dates! I think this would be a great motivation for all of us! **And you can sign up for a training plan which could count towards your cardio for the challenge!** And if you're worried about a full 5k you can join the beginners mile race! there's many options to choose from!

Just was wondering if there was anyone else in the group that joined, or would like to join?!?

We can use this thread to keep each other motivated and let each other know how we are doing! Just post here if you signed up and what training you signed up for (if any).
