Thanks!!

I went to my own doctor this afternoon. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into my Pain Management Dr and had to see my family doctor instead. The Pain Management guy is a way better doctor. Anyway, I had him read the radiologist report to me but it didn't really give a whole lot of info.

I let him know that my Vit D levels are low and gave him the numbers I had been given. My current level is 6. A normal reading is between 75 and 250. I was told this is an extreme deficiency. He didn't seem to worried about it. He said that whole vit. D thing is just hype and the newest thing. It's very frustrating. When I was 23, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Back then, there wasn't a test for it and my dad had it. I was extremely ill during all three of my pregnancies. I went gluten-free but that didn't control it. Then I developed severe arthritis and they decided that I had Rheumatoid instead. Meds didn't make it better. Finally, about a year ago, they sent me for pain management and I met my current doctor. He tested me for Anklosing and I tested positive. I cut down on the starch in my diet and things got much better. I had a Biaxin pump installed in my abdomen.

To me, being D deficient signals that something isn't right. I am not absorbing something somewhere.

I was on prescription strength vitamin D after my chemo. Try not to fret...this may be very fixable.

Jody: My vitamin D levels were low last year and I was diag this year...it was not aggressive bc....there is a lot of research about vitamin d and bc but it doesn't mean that its aggressive or not..there are other indicators that dictate whether yours will be or won't be...take a deep breath - the waiting is the worst....in the meattime take your vitamin D, I am on 50,000 right now because mine was low again due to rads and not being able to be outside in the sun...its one thing you can do to get your body back in balance...sending you a hug... emoticon emoticon

Oh Jody!
I know this is really difficult -- and trust me -- I have my moments where the sky is falling. But try to be positive. I know it is easier said than done.

I was diagnosed On April 14th of this year and the waiting was far worse than anything else! The not knowing is terrible because we (or at least I) never project GREAT things into the future. I never think I'll win the lottery or that things will be fabulous -- Usually I project the sky will fall.

What helped me to not PROJECT too much is to focus on this very minute. Not one day at a time but really -- I needed to take one minute at a time.

I listened to positive music, Jeremy Camp, Karen Drucker - music that kept my head "right". I also cried ALOT -- and my husband simply held me.

I am praying for you ~ as is everyone here on this team. Hang in there and POST whenever you need to purge the negativity :)

(((hugs)))
Dee

It is not enough to simply show up. You need to step up for results.... keep on stepping! Dee

I am still in wait mode until I see the surgeon on the 1st. I see a Pain Management Doctor on a regular basis though because I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and he had run some tests because we are having issues controlling it. He called this morning to tell me that my Vitamin D levels have come back extremely low. There is no reason for them to be low. I drink lots of milk and eat dairy and I spend a couple of hours a day outside. Low Vitamin D is a possible symptom of aggressive breast cancer.

Dammit.
