Alicia I so agree with you - I think we are our worst enemy when it comes to weight loss. We focus too much on that and we stop enjoying life. I believe that if we top panicking on the fact that we gained a pound this week, and just relax a bit, we will see a bigger difference in ourselves.

Hope everyone has a good day, snowing here - but it is so pretty when everything is white - my hubby doesn't agree, but I love the winter - just not the cold that comes with it - lol

I am like you Valerie. I am so tired of the battle and how it took first place before anything in my life. It was awful it was part of how I dealt with anything. Whether I enjoy a gathering had to do with what I ate rather than the great people I met. I have only two regrets in life and one of them was getting on the dieting band wagon so very long ago and learning to eat well and put exercise into a normal part of a normal day is my challenge for the new year. It is a challenge not to get suck into the panic of having to eat this way or that way or making just regular stretching and enjoying a morning walk NOT a focus on losing weight. Sure I weigh a little more than I like but you know what - I truly believe that if I finally stop the panic and just do those little things in life my body will find it's own normal if I get out of the way.

Have a great day!

I don't make special goals or resolutions for the New Year. Nor do I believe in diets - they just don't work in the long run. I too aim for a healthy lifestyle - exercise for mind and body and a 80/20 diet - eating healthy most of the time with an allowance for occasional 'treats'. Not trying to lose weight (although I should weigh a lot less) because I'm tired of the 'battle'.

Hi Sara - I haven't been on here to chat for a little while but it's nice to see another member stopping by. My plans for 2017 are to continue what I started in January 2016. Then, I decided that I needed to begin exercising regularly and get back tracking my food on SP. Those decisions have led to a loss of around 50 pounds in 2016. I'm not quite where I want to be yet - still have another 20 lbs or so to go - but along the way I've made many new Spark friends and been involved in forums and challenges that have helped me to be successful.

It sounds like you know what you need to do to be healthier so good luck to you on your journey in 2017.

Val and Alicia - I didn't make it on to the thread to wish everyone a Merry Christmas so I'll jump ahead here since there are only a couple of days remaining in 2016 and wish you (and anyone else who stops by) a

VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Getting close to the end of 2016 - what do you have planned for 2017?

I for one will be focusing specifically on living a healthy lifestyle.. Was at the Dr this morning and he informed me my blood sugar was up again, and when we looked at the chart, it seems it was way down about a year ago - and when I think back that is when I was being extremely careful what I ate and I was going to the gym on a regular basis. SO I now know what I need to do, and am putting everything into motion to begin that lifestyle once again.

2017 Here I Come!!

Good Morning Everyone -

So sore and tired today, yesterday one of the schools had their Mass and Christmas play at the church and at first we figured they would not be using the lower hall and we could work there until they were gone but no, it was such a big school that they took over the upper and lower halls and the church all the way up to the choir loft. emoticon It has snowed so every bit of floor in the church needed washing and vacuuming once they were gone. All washrooms had to be cleaned. You know how little kids can be in a washroom. We got started once more after they were gone and worked straight through until 6 and finally, finally got it all clean once more. I know that it really didn't have to be perfect but that is not how hubby works when it comes to floors and so we stayed. The only thing that steamed me a bit was someone hid a Timmies cup in the back, good thing I found it but truly that had to be a grownup and you would think that they would have enough respect to put the cup where it belongs - in the garbage. emoticon

We were pretty pleased with how it all looked once we were done. We had been working there on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday afternoon and yesterday. I can tell you with swinging that mop from side to side there are sore muscles in places I didn't expect.

Serving at Mass today and hoping that I don't have to carry anything because I think my hands won't hold tight anymore. emoticon

Have a great day and keep warm.

Thanks Alicia! Just home from a visit with my mom and MIL (plus a few other relations of DH) and am currently watching the Vanier Cup. For sure we'll be tuned into the Grey Cup tomorrow. Chicken wings and guacamole are on the menu for sure (DH just got his brother's recipe for the latter).

I hadn't thought about doing Christmas cards during the game - sounds like great idea but not sure I'd get many cards done! emoticon I may try to knit - lots of that to get done! I'll be cheering for the Stamps like I'm cheering for the Dinos in the Vanier!

Enjoy the game too! emoticon emoticon

We will be watching the Grey Cup at Mom's while I do my Christmas cards (I do them while watching the Grey Cup, a friend of mine got me started doing it and it works great for getting them done early) Ordering Chinese food as well. Should be a fun time.

Hope you enjoy too.

I've been going to comment here for a few days but just didn't get to it. Football "might" have had a little to do with that!

Sorry about your "bad hair" experience. It's nice to change our style if we can now and again but there's nothing worse than coming out with just the opposite of what you'd hoped to achieve. No, in the grand scheme of things, a bad "do" is not earth shattering, but feeling good about how you look is definitely important. I hope that you are able to tame it into something that is more manageable and pleasing to you. I think I'd head to another stylist if I was really unhappy.

To top it off, our Ticats could not quite pull off the win in the ESF and of course what would a close loss for the Ticats be without some kind of officiating controversy(hit on Zach on that final drive). It seems that it was at best borderline as there have been other players penalized for hits that weren't as late. Apparently the holding call on that play that put the team back in the shadow of the goal post was also very marginal and probably shouldn't have been called. No other holding calls had been made on either team previous to that and there was probably one that could have been called on Edmonton on one of the White TD runs. I think that holding call had more impact on the final outcome than no call on the Collaros hit.
As disappointing as the ending was, it really was the way their whole season seemed to go - slow starts, not quite enough plays and heartbreaking losses with a little bad luck mixed in. They have lots of time now to fully heal and prepare for next season. As for the Eastern Final - Can't really cheer for either team - don't want to cheer for Hank and don't want to see an all west GC. I guess we'll see what happens.

Have a good week. I'm off to sing and conduct this afternoon - conductor has been ill, in the hospital and is just being released but has to go to a nursing home for the time being as he's not ready to go home. One member thinks he won't make it back but I know he'll try. It could be the new year though as I doubt he'd handle the December schedule which has 3 performances one week and 2 the following week. If he doesn't return, I'll have myself another job! emoticon

Good Morning Friends emoticon

Yesterday I had been looking forward to getting my hair trimmed and styled into something new and maybe funky but was well and truly disappointed in the cut and style. I ended up coming home looking like Shirley Temple. This caused a lot of old yucky feeling coming up for all the times my mother tried to make me look like Shirley Temple when I was young. I hated Shirley Temple just for that. I brushed out my hair as best I can and then put it up but had trouble doing that as the hairdresser cut way too much off. I know in the grand picture of life a hair disaster is not a big deal but I did cry when I got home. I had been really looking forward to something different, to have stupid ringlets that my hair just doesn't do. I would go to another shop but my mother goes to this hair salon every Saturday so I will see the one that messed up my hair (she thought it was really cute) every week. When I see her next week with Mom I would like to be brave enough when she sees I don't have those ringlets to say that I tried to like it but just hated the style.

Sorry about the rant but it was just a yucky day.

We are going to my Mom's to watch the game today Sue and you not only listen but you remember what is said. I often listen to the information but repeating it I forget the names and who is who a lot. I know them when I see them in the game but not to talk about later that is a skill I don't have and you do emoticon

Here is to a strong game!

Hi Alicia

The Ticats may not have won their last game but they are still in the playoffs! GO TICATS!! I am hopeful for a win on Sunday, but only if they then go on to beat Hank and his buds in the EDF! Thanks for the comments on my "insight" but I do follow the team closely - have for several years - and have been doing a lot of listening to TSN 1150 Hamilton (Ticats at Noon show and Tatti and Marsh) on my phone which is where much of my info and "insight" originates. 3downnation is also a great source for not only Ticats (Scratching Post), but most other teams too. I even check into the team forum from their website from time to time and usually during games.

I agree with you about the Remembrance Day ceremonies in Ottawa - best watched on TV which is usually what we do. I have never attended the ceremony here although it is just a few blocks away at the hospital - built originally post 1918 and named Soldier's Memorial which is why they have the cenotaph there. Of course there was always a Remembrance Day ceremony at school when I was still teaching.

WAY too early for the Christmas stuff too although Any day now I expect our neighbours across the street to be out putting up their extensive Christmas displays (which are often up until April!!) emoticon Another house down the street visible from our window had Christmas lights on about 3 nights ago - might have been on since but I just haven't noticed. There's nothing wrong with putting up the lights while the weather is good - just leave them off until December!

Had a trip down to the Royal for the horse show a couple of days ago and saw all of the temporary seating up for the Grey Cup. It's all steel so it won't be warm to sit on unless one has a cushion! The horse show was good - even had a little polo match in there - but of course hubby likes to go for the show jumping which is the main event. It's always a late night though so I wasn't too disappointed that our group couldn't sing yesterday as the nursing home we were scheduled to visit has an outbreak and is closed to visitors. I've been doing the conducting while our usual director is in the hospital, which takes more energy both physically and mentally to make sure everyone is together - energy I had a hard time finding yesterday.

I'm supposed to be exercising so I'd best get moving here. Good luck getting all of the figures painted! My knitting likewise is coming along VERY slowly! I need to spend more time on it too!

Have a great day!

Good Morning My Friends emoticon

Interesting house I saw on my morning walk this morning. All doors and windows of this house were copper doors with stain glass windows. The smaller windows had the bottom of the door cut off to make it fit but the door knobs were still there. emoticon Hubby asked if maybe they were windows just made to look like doors and I told him - no when I was surprised by this house I looked even closer and they are really, really copper doors. emoticon Also, in the window of one house was a Christmas tree all lit up - too soon for me. emoticon

We are off to the town Remembrance Days ceremony, I just love the simple beauty of it. How all ages take part. The one in Ottawa is very impressive and respectful but if you are not part of it and short you cannot see anything if you go. That one is best on TV really.

Have a wonderful day.

Morning All -

Thank you Sue! I really have enjoyed catching up with the Ti-Cats with you. You really have a great eye for what is going on with the team that I find myself reading your posts to hubby too. He thinks you have great insight too.

We shall see what goes on in today's game, we are going to listen to it for sure, at least after we get back from the Craft Sale at a nearby town.

Hubby and I are making progress on the figures now that we have agreed no other projects until these figures are done and boy am I going to take a break from painting statues once they are. emoticon

Have a great Saturday!

Alicia - Quiet here for Halloween too and as it has been for the past 2-3 years. DH has looked after the minimal decorating outdoors (at least compared to our neighbours!) and handing out the treats and he decided that he wasn't going to bother this year. I didn't mind - his decision - and of course it means no treats coming in to the house or left over to tempt!

I'm with you on leaving the Christmas stuff packed until December! We do extensive decorating for the holiday but having it up for about a month until just after New Years is lots long enough. Good luck getting the nativity figures done on time!

Sorry you missed the game. They didn't play terribly - at least not entirely - but the usual mid-game lull on offense put them too far behind. I was out to knitting group today so haven't checked out any news about practice yet to see who might be playing this week. Although it is a nothing game, a win going into the playoffs would be good for team morale, but Montreal defense can be pretty fierce and the LAST thing the Ticats need is more injured players!

Have a good week and enjoy our nice fall weather while it lasts!

Good Morning All -

Quiet time here for Halloween but that is okay. Today I put away my Halloween decorations and keep it that was until December 1st when I put up the Christmas stuff. I never do any Christmas stuff in November. I would get too tired of them. Here is hoping we get all the nativity figures done this month. We are getting close to the time they are put out and we gotta be done. emoticon emoticon

Sue - Thanks for letting me know, we had gotten busy that night and I missed listening to the game and the weird thing is that there is only 1 week 19 upload on CFL Time on Youtube and it is the RedBlack's, so we haven't gotten to see the game after the fact. That is sad about those injuries.

Here is to a lovely November!

Thanks Val - both for the belated wishes (I didn't mention it at the time except to my 5% challenge team) so of course you didn't know then! Also thanks for the instructions on "memes". I'd love to post pics but mine all seem to go into my Windows Photo Gallery and I can't seem to figure how to access that to post them. The folders in my pictures files that I do have are all about four years old and had been downloaded from the camera (before I had a smart phone). At some point I may be able to figure out how to get pics from the Photo Gallery to other sites but I don't spend a lot of time trying to figure it out.

Alicia - Not great news about our Ticats with the loss the other night AND three more players injured. And now of course they can't finish better than second since Winnipeg "laid an egg" yesterday and played terribly giving Ottawa the win. emoticon Probably worse though is Fantuz's injury. I don't know if you heard but he has a torn ACL (same as Zach had) and is not under contract for next year. That's really tough for him as it could be close to a year before he's healthy enough to play again. It's been a tough year for our 'Cats on the injury front! emoticon

BTW, here's how I get "meme"s - I don't even know how to say it LOL!

- Do an internet search for images, re the subject you want, i.e. birthdays. I type in "birthday images" and enter.
- If the link to images (with pics underneath) doesn't automatically come up, then at the top of the page next to 'All', click on "Images" and voila, a whole page of pics to choose from should appear.
- Right click on the pic and choose "Save Image To". I suggest saving to your "Pictures" folder or "Documents" folder. Within these main folders, I have sub-folders made for an easier organization of the pics saved, ie, Images, SP Images, Humour, etc.

- Go to the Discussion Thread in SP you want to post the pic to.
- At the top of the message box, click on "Add An Image".
- Click on "Choose File" and find your pic in the applicable folder. Just double click on it and it should appear in your memo (in code). When you "Post Message" you'll be able to see the pic.

Hope this helps!

Alicia - I'm not as talented as Val in posting memes (? - see I'm not even sure of the term!) but I'll add my belated birthday wishes to hers. It sounds like you had a lovely day! Our birthdays are exactly 4 weeks apart - mine was late September!

And for sure Zach is playing on Friday night! emoticon emoticon

Good Morning Friends emoticon

I have to put yesterday in the group of one of the best birthdays EVER! emoticon It was just the most perfect one. Lots of wonderful wishes, and lots of fun with hubby as he took me shopping for clothes. We both laughed as we told the clerk who came to help us - anything but black. I have some really lovely clothes in the closet and we had so much fun doing it. Got to chat with my sister and Robert made me a beautiful carrot cake for after going out to dinner with my Mom coming along. It was wonderful emoticon

Sue - glad to hear that Zach is coming back and yup, Masoli has done really well filling in and improving. We shall see won't we.

Have a great day

Alicia - Ah yes, inconsistency seems to be the name of the game with our Ticats! emoticon Masoli has done a good job for the most part and he's definitely improved from a year ago. The good news though is that Zach was back practicing today and will play this week if he has no setbacks! emoticon

Yes, Sue, it was a really great game but have you noticed this season it seems that the Ti-Cats blow the first two quarters and then roar back in the last two and if they are not too far behind they can win it? If it was 6 quarters they would have won every game emoticon this season.

I can relate to the knitting pile, my crochet pile is big too and I got a few pieces to get done for Christmas.

Have a great day Val too.

Alicia - Truly disappointed in Speedy B. Taking drugs is never a smart decision regardless of whether or not he knew it was a banned substance. Glad that you were wrong about Hamilton not rallying back as they had a GREAT win over Hank and his buddies last night in overtime as I'm sure you're aware! Kendial Lawrence did a good job replacing Banks and the recently signed ex-Argo Elliott had a great game as well as Fantuz who passed 1000 yards receiving and 100 catches on the season.Of course it was the usual slow start but better second half. I suppose that isn't all that surprising given the number of roster changes that they've had from week to week, especially lately. It's definitely a game worth watching - especially the second half which was most exciting. Now we just have to become HUGE Bomber fans for the next two weeks and look for them to beat Ottawa in their final 2 games while hoping that the Ticats win at least one of their games. It would be great to get the bye week into the EDF. Yes the west is really strong but on any given Sunday.... Ticats just need to get some players back healthy again.

Nice to get all of the cleaning done and replace the ugly carpet that you didn't like. We had green carpet throughout our living room, dining room and family room (all attached) and up the stairs that we FINALLY managed to get rid of completely last year. We pulled it up in the dining/living room several years ago as there was hardwood underneath (but not in the family room which is part of an addition to the house). We were really happy to replace the family room carpet just over a year ago and eventually pulled the remaining ugly stuff off the stairs (also hardwood underneath).

I've been busy with the Drifters and also had a medical screening appointment this past week as well as a coffee date with some friends followed by a bit of shopping. Not a whole lot of knitting getting done unfortunately and I have much to get accomplished there.

Enjoy getting back to your art. emoticon

Good Morning All -

Our fall cleaning is officially done! We had the carpet cleaner in and what a fantastic job he did. We plan on having them back in the spring to do the couch and chairs. We also got rid of an awful piece of carpet that the building super put in to cover a woren spot. We plan on getting something a bit nicer and smaller to cover and protect but the tacky one is gone. Everything looks fresh and new once more. Now back to normal routines and work on art. emoticon

Sue - can you believe Speedy B? How can one be so unthinking when playing professional sports. I don't think Hamilton is going to rally back from this. Mind you even if they made it to the Grey Cup the West is way too strong. emoticon

Have a great day all.

Alicia - I guess you can cheer extra hard for former Redblack Justin Capiciotti to get after Hank on Friday night since he was one of the players that came to Hamilton in the trade they made with the Riders the other day! He isn't going to be starting but he is going to play STs and probably rotate in on the DL so maybe he'll get to Burris! emoticon Seems that Ottawa didn't even try to re-sign him so he'll be playing with a big chip on his shoulder. I'm sure Chick or Tracy will also be happy to get up close and personal with Hank given the opportunity. Here's hoping that all of the recent signings by the Ticats will be enough to get them over the hump and allow them to win most of their remaining games. Also hoping that Zach isn't sidelined too long with his recent concussion.

Nice to get jobs like cleaning out of the way. I know that my hubby was out cleaning up the flower beds today and of course there'll be the inevitable raking. I was out singing today - our group has just started their season - and I'll be out singing again tomorrow then heading to the blood donor clinic. I had to cancel my appointment last month as I felt I was coming down with a cold and they don't want to see anyone at the clinic who isn't entirely healthy.

Enjoy the rest of the week and the game on Friday night! emoticon

Hi All -

We are nearly done all the fall cleaning for this year. Just a few tweeks today and seeing about getting the carpet cleaned in the main area and that is it. emoticon We actually have had a lot of fun this time doing the cleaning. Without so much junk in the way it really was a very smooth go. We hope to keep it that way.

Val - Love your poem emoticon

Sue - Actually we were thrilled that the Riders won. Even though my husband was born and raised in Ottawa he said he will NOT cheer for the Red/Blacks as long as Hank is there. Every time he got sacked, my hubby yelled - do it again. emoticon I have never seen my hubby dislike any player or team as much as he cannot stand Burris. Of course, the thanksgiving weekend proved once more that the western teams are much stronger than the eastern ones and it looks more and more that Winnipeg might be playing as the eastern team in the grey cup. emoticon

Have a great day

emoticon Happy Thanksgiving Alicia and Val (and anyone else who checks in!)

Expecting our daughter, grandson and son to arrive a bit later so am trying to get things done ahead of their arrival. Beds made, turnip for casserole cooked but still have to get in some exercise and then a shower and make the turnip casserole. Our first Thanksgiving with our grandson and the first one in about 5 years with our daughter so we're looking forward to it.

Yes the recent losses AND all of the injuries are concerning Alicia. I'm glad that they've had this week off to rest and hopefully get a few players healthy so that they can return to the field next week. I guess we'll have to thank the Riders for dispatching Ottawa last night (sorry I know you lived there) It was an exciting game especially in the fourth and Hank came in to almost save the day but they lost in overtime because the Riders kicker is better! Anyway the next couple of games should be interesting.
I hope that the toe heals quickly. It makes it really hard to be on your feet let alone walk when your toe is hurting.

Enjoy your weekend! emoticon

Good Morning Friends emoticon

emoticon all rooms are fall cleaned except our bedroom. This one will not take long and it just has to wait until after the weekend. Kelinda and her soon to be hubby are coming today for the weekend and of course, I have some Mom errands. I was suppose to serve at Mass but not sure if I will be able to as I smashed my baby toe and have either bruised it or broken a small bone. I have done this to my feet often, sometimes I wonder if I will remember that I need to wear something on my feet to keep my toes safe at all times because I seem to smash them often. Hubby yesterday took off the white paint they put all over the bathroom floor to uncover the tile hidden beneath. It is a soft pink and looks very retro and much better than the awful paint job that was coming off with every wash. My oldest daughter was to come on Monday but her boyfriend is not back yet from his long haul. She is struggling to learn to work things out with a long haul trucker. It can be a challenge for her.

Sue - Yup, it was painful to watch really and the loss to Calgary was expected but still sad. At least this week they have time off to maybe recover.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving emoticon

Alicia - Yes the loss to the Riders was sad and not without controversy which continues over the sanctions on Austin. I'm not holding my breath expecting them to beat the Stamps, but I hope at least, that it is a close game. Injuries to so many players on both sides of the ball (offense/defense) sure don't help. I heard today that Rico Murray is now on the 6 game IL - not good especially since Courtney Stephen is also on the 6 game. That's 2 of their veteran DBs out probably for the remainder of the season. Most of the injured players on offense are also still going to be on the sidelines. I just hope that it isn't a blow out! emoticon

Hope that the super is quick to get the toilet fixed. One of the joys of home ownership - we get to do our own repairs! Good luck getting the cleaning done!

Had a busy day yesterday with our first Drifters practice and then the resulting email that I had to send out last night. I look after updating the list of members, contacting members with information and this year I've also taken on the preparation of the schedule since I'm also the liaison with each of the nursing/retirement homes that our group visits. It's a once a year job and our schedule follows a predictable pattern - except in December - so I have to contact each coordinator to set up dates for the first 2 weeks of December.

Well, the kitchen and diningroom have been fall cleaned and today is the livingroom. It is so much easier now that we had purged everything not used or needed down. We can do the extra stuff now. Although, I do have to call the super today - handle on the toilet has broken so emoticon

Thank you for the monthly goodie Valerie! I really love them and actually helps me to do the one for the other team I am leader of. I do use different goodies emoticon but if it wasn't for you, I would forget! emoticon

Sue - it was sad to see the Ti-Cats lose to the Riders. emoticon We did watch and it brought home that the west teams no matter what they are doing are still stronger than the east. We shall have to see how it goes with Calgary.

Well, time to get cleaning!
Have a great day!

Val - I totally agree with you about the greyness of November. It's probably my least favourite month. I can live with winter as long as it isn't too cold or icy. I don't mind crisp clear days with sparkling snow and by February the lengthening daylight is always most welcome!

Ticats in Regina tonight Alicia. Let's hope that they can overcome the elements (cold windy and wet!) and their injury-depleted roster to come home with the win! I'll be watching even though it's late.

Ahh see I am the opposite, my time is from Autumn to Spring with Winter in between. I use to mind the ice when it was on my walks but it lasts less than the heat of summer. I like the dampness, the early darkness, all of it. Everything that these three seasons bring I am loving it. Summer, well, I endure as best I can but truly, this is my time of the year.

I don't care for the shortening hours of daylight either. Do enjoy the beautiful colours, but don't like the dampness that creeps in. And November for me is the grayest month. These days are going by so fast for me now. Only 13 weeks to Christmas and then we get into the dead of winter ... yikes, must enjoy these days whatever the weather.

The calendar may be saying fall but summer is having one last gasp here today. Yesterday the forecast was for 21 and rainy - today my phone is showing 26 and sunny! I'll take that any day! I have a bit of a love/dislike (don't want to say hate) relationship with fall. I love the colours and nice sunny days even if it's a bit cooler but I don't like seeing all those hours of daylight disappearing and the bareness that comes from the trees as they lose their leaves. emoticon emoticon

Enjoy your day! emoticon

Alicia - Since the weather is cooler getting in your walks in the afternoon sounds like a good idea. I'm often out afternoon as Drifters will start up again soon so hitting my treadmill or grabbing my weights first thing in the morning is a better option for me.

I don't think that watching the Ticats re-match with the Argos would be any more palatable during workout than it was in real time. I'm glad that they managed the win over the Als last night although it was a fight all game long - but entertaining. Zach seemed to be not quite himself again, although he still mad some great plays, and I wonder if he was feeling a bit "gun shy" after taking so many hits in the last game. Change to Campbell on the OL worked and Revenberg had a good game in place of the injured Dyakowski as did Scheuerman filling in for Gable. I saw him play in the preseason and was impressed then - he did nothing to disappoint last night, picking up some tough yards. The defense was great once they got rolling and really deserve the lion's share of credit for the win. It wasn't pretty but a win is a win and it doesn't matter by how much! Ticats now are in first place so I'll have to cheer hard for Winnipeg and Calgary (that keeps my daughter happy) to beat the Argos and Ottawa this afternoon - sorry I know you like Ottawa.

Enjoy your weekend!

Good Morning All -

I am thinking of moving my morning walks and workouts to after lunch as it just isn't regular anymore and doesn't seem to be getting any better. I spend first thing in meditation and I don't want to give up that start to my day so since hubby always takes a nap after lunch maybe I should use that time to get out the door and get walking or move to the hobby room for my exercise. Food choices have been pretty good so far and I am nearly heartburn free for two full weeks emoticon

Sue - I see the game has been posted, maybe I will put it on while hubby is napping and I am working out, it might not be as painful emoticon We shall see about Friday. Enjoy your busy afternoons.

Have a wonderful Tuesday emoticon

HI Alicia - Believe me the only part of Sunday's game that you might want to watch would be the 2nd quarter when they managed to get some drives going and finally grabbed the lead. I thought all would be well but they totally seemed to disintegrate in the 3rd and couldn't manage any kind of comeback in the 4th. Stubler who rarely blitzes decided to change his game plan and Zach was getting hit ALL night although there was only one actual sack. That being said he didn't have his best game either. Have to wonder if they weren't getting some payback for the hit that injured Ray. The OL was certainly a problem - Dyakowski didn't play the 2nd half and Filer probably was a bit rusty in his first start back so that may have had some effect, but the tackles have been brutal! It was nice to see LeFevour who I always liked have a good game - just not against his old team! I do hope that they get their act together by Friday because the Als, while they aren't a great team, can certainly get some pressure on Zach and we don't want to see him hurt from too many hits again if the OL can't hold them off.

Fall activities starting back up as I'm off to book club this afternoon after our summer off. In fact I have something scheduled every afternoon except for Friday, plus a coffee date with friends on Thursday morning. It's probably going to be a shock to my system to be so busy (for me) all of a sudden! emoticon

Have a good week too! emoticon

I just couldn't break my streak after all and kept it going although I took a break from posting which was nice. So I am at 712 days now. emoticon

Alicia - I haven't checked out the Ontario thread for a few days but yes we did enjoy the game and our visit to the stadium. It was great fun once they stopped turning the ball over!! emoticon There were chants of "Argos suck" as soon as the Ticats took back the lead! emoticon Our seats were up in section 203 (west side) so we had a great view of the field and could see every play on the field. There are great views of the city from up there too. I climbed the stairs while hubby took the elevator after making it to the first level and deciding he'd had enough of stairs. The stairs were faster! For the Mac game we were down close to the field on the side opposite the players (east) but in full sun and it was a warm day. Headed inside to the concourse at halftime just to get out of the sun. No stadium food was consumed - ate a big breakfast before the Mac game at a diner downtown (we had left on Sunday and spent 2 nights in Hamilton). Between games we headed off to our vehicle and drove to a nearby Boston Pizza as it was just too warm to stand out on the south patio for the concert although there were food trucks and beverages available. The lot that we parked in was several blocks away from the stadium although still a reasonable walk so lots of steps were made - just under 15000 for me by day's end.

If you should have an opportunity to attend a game live at THF I highly recommend it I'm sure we'll be back sometime. It's fun and the fans are very friendly. I hope that this was one game you got to watch rather than just listen to. I'm looking forward to seeing the rematch tomorrow with ex-Ticat LeFevour (I did like him) starting for the double blue. Of course the Ticats are going to win again! emoticon

My streak got broken - again. Although I did take my computer with me I didn't take time to log on to SP. My one complaint about the Days Inn was that I had to keep signing in to their wifi and I'm not sure that my hubby ever got his phone connected. Time to start a new streak as I shouldn't be going anywhere for a while.

Sue - I bet you really enjoyed that game! It sure was a exciting one. emoticon

I just couldn't break my streak after all but after spinning it each day didn't do anything else and took a break and that helped a lot. It is great to be back though.

Have a great day all!

Alicia - I had a streak of about 150 days going but it got broken when we travelled to Ohio in July as I didn't get on to the internet until the day after arriving at my BIL's. My latest streak was just broken as I just returned from a few days at my mom's with no internet. Previously I've used my phone but a couple of weeks ago I discovered that I'd accidentally turned off my wifi connection on my phone and had gone a few days at least using my data at home instead of internet! emoticon Basically I was out of data a couple of weeks ago and to avoid going over, I turned it off. Next weekend we're off to Hamilton to the Labour Day game - hubby has decided that we'll leave Sunday and spend 2 nights away so there's no guarantee that I'll be logging in on Monday and of course there could be some stadium food in there which would be VERY hard to calculate! Congrats to you for keeping a streak going for almost 2 years though and we'll chat when you return! Enjoy your break! emoticon

Our day just got quiet as our daughter SIL and grandson headed back to the city a short time ago. I've spent time at least some time with my grandson everyday since Tuesday and while he is a real bundle of energy, I've really enjoyed it. Daugher, son-in-law and grandson all headed up to visit the great-grandmas when I went up to mom's although they stayed with my MIL who has more room and energy than my 95 year old mom. DD and GS stayed here last night as our SIL had headed back to Toronto on Friday to try to get Ontario plates for our daughter's vehicle (what a runaround he's had because the vehicle is from out of province!) He came up this morning to get them although they stayed until a short while after I got back from church where I was scheduled to be in the nursery today. (otherwise I would have stayed home). They'll be back mid-week again as SIL wants to do some patching of walls for us upstairs and maybe we'll get some long overdue painting done this fall. We have a few days to catch our breath before it gets a bit crazy around here again! Quite a change from our normal predictable life but we'll happily get used to it!

Good Morning My Friends emoticon

As I spun the spark wheel again this morning for the 696th time I thought about how ticked I would be if I missed spinning it and breaking the streak. It happened before at a much lower number and even though it is a silly little thing in life I was a little upset that I broke the streak so before that happens at that huge number I think at 700 I am going to break the streak on purpose and take a week off from spark people. I haven't in all these days and think it would be nice to just be away for a few days. With all the apps now there is no reason most times to be away from sparkpeople which can be really great and thus streaks continue but never taking a vacation from the keyboard emoticon Of course I shall be back after a week and I am not giving up the leader of my other team or anything like that and I shall read all the news when I get back. So, in 4 days I will start a vacation from spark. emoticon

Today however, is a quiet one with altar serving at 5. Enjoying a really slow start to the day with no rushing around anywhere.
Have a great day all!

Hi Sue - Hubby tells me you are right Burris is out for the next game or as you said what kind of temper tantrum he will throw. I wonder what stress excuse he will give. We did listen to the game and follow the play by play but I know when it comes on youtube we will probably watch it.

Alicia - I have to say that I was most surprised by Montreal's dominant win over the OTTRBs (as I like to call them!) the other night but dear old Hank sure didn't play all that well and I couldn't help but wonder if Campbell was wishing he'd had Harris dressed to play. According to Harris he was "good to go"! I think we'll see Harris starting next game! The larks are such a mess that of course I picked Ottawa to win but I'm not upset that they lost AT ALL! emoticon

Too bad if you didn't watch the game last night as it truly was a thing of beauty to see our Ticats put the boots to the greenies! Zach had a GREAT game and he didn't even play all of the 4th quarter. Still a bit of rust early on - but that to be expected. Riders looked like they were planning to open bakery in Hamilton with all of their turnovers! emoticon Our ball-hawking D was certainly on the field last night! Special team were also much better at containing the opposition returners aside from one kick return early the the second half. It's certainly worth watching the game some time if you can find it on YouTube.

On to Calgary next weekend - a much tougher road game in the west so I hope that they can at the very least keep it close. They've done pretty well against the Stamps in the past with Collaros playing so I think it's time to break the losing streak in Cowtown!

The Labour Day game should be a real blast!

Addition - Alicia - Just saw a tweet and then an article naming Trevor Harris as Ottawa's starter for this Thursday..You just KNOW that Burris is NOT a happy camper at the moment! emoticon

Good Morning All -

Great to see the Als putting the boots to Burris. My husband who was born and raised in Ottawa and loves the home team will not cheer for them until Burris is gone. Mind you Burris did step out of the game last night. I am sure he will have some excuse, the thing is Ottawa fans will not stand behind a losing team and will be screaming for them to dump him soon.

Looking forward to the game tonight not sure if I am going to ask Mom to watch at her place this evening. I wouldn't want to jinx them emoticon so we shall be listening.

Too bad about your family not stopping but you are right, after 3 days one would only want to get home and stay.

emoticon on the loss and thank you for the great advise and we shall see.
Take care

Oh yes Alicia - they DEFINITELY have to put the boots to the green Riders! They are a desperate team and have been in some close games so the Ticats sure can't let this one get away especially with a trip to Stampede land on the horizon. Now that Zach has gotten rid of some of the "rust" and is getting back into the swing of things quickly, I hope that they'll get off to a faster start. Defense has been a bit of an issue with so many changes back there but they have to start making more big plays and limiting opposition returns and penalties on special teams.
Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing them back playing at home - and Labour Day is not far away! I called down this morning to arrange for a parking pass for us for both the Mac and Ticats games.

My family made it safely from Calgary yesterday but unfortunately kept going straight to Toronto and didn't stop in for a quick visit which we had expected as they had extra passengers with them (picked up in Thunder Bay). They will be coming up on Tuesday for a BBQ. A bit disappointed but I understand their desire to get to their destination after 3 long days on the road.

My weight went down 3 days in a row but then bumped back up about a half pound yesterday and seems to want to sit there. It's still a couple of pounds less than my previous low so I'm not going to complain. Maybe you should just commit to weighing one day a week and try to stick to that. I've been doing daily weigh ins for some time so for the most part don't let daily fluctuations throw me off.

Have a great day and enjoy the game tomorrow night! emoticon

Good Morning All -

Sue - I hope they beat the Riders cause if they don't well.... that would be a real kick in the teeth wouldn't it?

I haven't checked my weight lately as I got a bit obsessive about it however I am slowly changing bad habits to better ones now and expect to see a difference in time. Thanks for asking.

Have a great day

Alicia -Zach did look better as the game wore on so they just might be able to get off to a faster start on offense now that he's getting back into shape and working off some of the "rust" emoticon Maybe that'll help the defense get going better as well. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to be back at home this weekend and they SHOULD beat the Riders who still seem to be a mess with Jones and his "anything for a W" attitude!

How's the weight loss going? I've been stuck in the same 1-2 pound range it seems all summer but FINALLY the scales were down a bit this morning even after being away for mom's birthday this weekend and indulging in Chinese food, chocolate cake, bacon and fried eggs twice - even a large blueberry muffin one morning! I just hope this last pound that's gone missing stays missing! emoticon

Have a great day!

No Sue - I didn't make it to hear it all but when watching the highlights I was thinking that maybe Hamilton should play two quarters before the game starts because lately the first half kinda stinks and then the second half they try to come-back but many times run out of time before they do get the W. It was a great second half.

Alicia - Did you stay up to watch (or listen) to all of the Ticats/Lions game last night? It was certainly worth watching the second half - very entertaining and they came OH SO CLOSE to a "W"!! emoticon emoticon

Alicia - You and I are on the same page when it comes to Burris! His rant was totally inappropriate! He almost seems to think that because he's still playing (no MOP last season if Zach had remained in the picture!) everyone should stroke his ego and ignore his play when it's less than stellar. Even in the win vs Edmonton he wasn't that great! Does he think that teams should let him keep playing like the Als did with Calvillo, letting him stay in the game until he was good and ready to retire, and not plan for the future? Thank goodness Austin got rid of him when he found a QB he could build the team around long term. Now Ottawa has done the same and "poor old Hank" feels threatened so lets anyone have it!
I read a comment from an Ottawa fan on the article about this outburst (found on 3downnation) who thought most of the negativity from Ticats fans about this was due to jealousy and Hamilton fans would sing a different tune if it was Masoli or Collaros. WRONG because neither Jeremiah or Zach would ever dream of calling out the media over criticism. Hard to believe how fragile and insecure Hank is.

Oh and speaking of Zach did you hear? - he's BACK!! emoticon It'll be great to see him on the field in BC this weekend and to see how the team responds to having their "leader" back . It won't be an easy game - BC has proven to be a good team and playing a 7 pm PT game is always tough on eastern teams so a win would be a real bonus! I"ll be watching - though from my MIL's home as we'll be away this weekend for mom's birthday on Saturday.

Have a good day trip there! emoticon

HI All! emoticon

Doing lots of day trips with DD and thank you Valerie for sharing the Spark Paris Blog here. We will be heading off to Sparta later today.

Sue - can you believe Burris? I mean is he in his 40s or 12? They keep saying how great he is and honestly I have watched him play for nearly his whole career and really I think he is okay but not out of this world great. He didn't pull teams up. It is called a team and all of them working together. Anyway, end of rant - LOL.

Keep cool all emoticon
