Awesome job! Make sure to take rest days (or cross training days) so you don't develop shin splints. I recommend icing them early before something bad happens.

The pain in your shins will go away with persevering through your running program as long as you train smart!

Good for you! Four minutes is still four minutes! More than the people on the couch did. One suggestion for you - are you walking too fast on the treadmill? I get pain on my left shin when I walk too fast. Just a thought...Either way, job well done.

Put one foot in front of the other and soon you'll be walking out the door!

I decided yesterday was the day to start jogging on the treadmill. I jogged for 2 min, walked for 1, jogged for 1, walked for 1, jogged for 1 (this is where my shins started burning REALLY bad) and then walked for 4. 10 min total with 4 min jogging. I went ahead and stretched more but couldn't convince myself to keep going with jogging so I ended up walking for another 30 minutes. Oh well. I was SO proud of myself for the 4 minutes I made it happen!!
