My two children talk and communicate on a daily basis with me. Of course, I live with my daughter so it would be hard not to communicate in this instance. My son just lives a few minutes away and I communicate with him weekly, if not daily. I take my grand son to school for him twice or more a week. I am still a very big part of their lives, so I guess that is the reason that we still talk and play together. My kids are older though. My son is married and in his early 30's and my daughter is in her late 20's. I stayed in touch with my parents too, until my Dad passed away this January. Take care and God bless, Deb

I have heard of lack of communication from friends so I don't think its that unusual. My sons are very different people, one in college 4 hours away and he calls or texts once or twice a week to tell me how its going. Older son is much more private but we still communicate regularly. Keep reaching out and letting them know you care ( just don't over do it). If they are young adults they are still trying to figure out who they are and how they fit into the world around them. I know the older I got the more I grew to appreciate and communicate with my parents. Sure wish they were still here to talk and share with. Good luck!

I hear about it with some of the people who come to see me. But for me it has't been an issue. One son needed his space about a year ago and I backed off. Now everything is good. I was the typical helicopter parent and had to back off. My second child (both are in college) probably tells people his mother forgot him, He is further away and I am busy right now. But, when I was in college, we didn't have the constant communication and my parents didn't show up all the time even though they were in the area. So, I think it's healthy. I guess I would say it's healthy for our kids to not need to be in touch all the time. We raise them to go out on their own. Haven't experienced the months or years. My older son isn't that big on communicating, so I have to always take the first step or my husband has to tell him to call or text me. I can see him not thinking about calling me for months. It will be interesting when he goes further away in January to another college.

I guess, my question is, do you call or write your child? You may have to take the first step. I don't see a lot of kids communicating outside of texting or Facebook.

Hi everyone emoticon

Do you ever have kids that are grown and just decide to NOT communicate with you for monthsssss or years at a time?

I have a daughter like that.... (the other two kids communicate regularly)

I know kids grow up and lead their own lives but to me this is so strange to keep one's distance from their parents....

emoticon am I the only one going thru this?

hi everyone emoticon

emoticon to those near and far away emoticon

okay so check this out ~ I was sleeping in my bed and my poodle and my terrier, both very small dogs, JUMPED across my back and jumped to the floor
and ran to the door emoticon emoticon

emoticon it was 3:45 a.m. in the morning emoticon no joke!

I let my dogs out on the gated porch and there was a policeman standing there outside my porch with his flashlight identifying himself....

He said: Ma'am I am investigating a "Disturbance" report.
I replied: here?
He said yes, this 3640 ...... Drive?
I replied: Yes this is but I was sleeping and my dogs barked so I came to the door.
He asked again: So you are sure you are alright and no one is hurt in the home?
I said correct.
At that point my son, came and gathered up the barking dogs and I introduced my son to the officer.
The Officer said: okay Ma'am, sorry for disturbing you.
To which I replied: no its okay and thank you for checking though emoticon

I know its their job to investigate each report and he didn't know we lead a very QUIET lifestyle.... it was just a weird experience LOL

how was your day or week?
