Did pretty well in August. I decided I like the elliptical. Now with September I'm going to kick things up a notch.

Last week was crazy busy - helped my daughter move into her college dorm (2nd year) and got our high school outdoor concession stand stocked and opened for a pre-season football scrimmage and a soccer tournament. People sure do buy a lot of drinks on nice days - could almost count all the lifting as weight lifting but it makes me too tired to even think about.

I did get 3 hours of walking in - Sunday 17th, Wednesday 21 and Saturday 23rd. I'll try to do better this week.

Sunday 24th 45 min walking

Did half hour water exercise at the hotel. Couldn't get my motivation to the hotel gym. . . Maybe tomorrow.

I am alive. . . Barely. :)
Friday Had not planned on going to the gym again but my 28 yr old son wanted to go to work on his walking. We both are going to do a 5k Run or Dye in Vegas in Sept. . . In training.
It should be fun.

45 mins zumba Gold- Had a blast!
1 hr pool exercise
20 mins treadmill. The ole knee began talking to me, especially after Zumba.

Everyone have an Awesome safe weekend.

Deb: You can go back and put your walk on the tracker. I only put things in my fitness tracker about two times a month. Part of it, is because I don't want to go into the tracker and I can't always get it tracked daily.

Got some time on the ellipical today. Yesterday got a walk. Going to work on some exercises.

Good Job everyone. Remember exercise is a gift we give ourselves (even though sometimes it doesn't feel like it). Every time you exercise you are sending a dose of health to every cell in your body and helping to ensure that you are NOT one of those people who ends up in a nursing home because they are weak and frail.

KEEP IT UP!

Went to the gym. Just discovered I LOVE the rowing machine. Did 30 mins. It is much easier on my knees, even compared to recumbent bike or treadmill. Happy dance! :) Sure feel it in the upper back and arms.

Did 15 mins on weight machines.& 15 mins on Recumbent bike.

Tomorrow going to Bootcamp class. . . .If I die, you will know why. LOL.

On the first I did 44 minutes worth of exercise. I missed it by one minute. Today I logged in 65 minutes of exercise. Trying to keep up with everyone else. I am committed to 45 minutes of exercise at least 5 days a week. I've got to have a couple of days to work out the kinks. Deb

Leila: You can do this. Sounds like you have a lot going on, which makes it even more important that you take care of yourself.

Still keeping up with my walks. Starting to do some weights.

Leila - Looking at what you have been through with your son I have no doubt that you can do anything that you put your mind to. Do what you can - but make sure that with all that you are doing for others that you make yourself a priority - you need to be healthy to keep your family going.

OK I didn't make it online yesterday so here goes - I will keep editing this post for this week as it progresses.

Fri Aug 1 94 minutes walking - still in Kennebunkport on vaca so very easy
Sat Aug 2 60 minutes on treadmill at fitness center at airport hotel - flying back tomorrow : (
Sun Aug 3 0 minutes and no good excuse. Arrived home early but wimped out with pizza and wine.
Mon Aug 4 60 minutes on treadmill - tomorrow I may dig out the exercise bike for a change.
Tue Aug 5 45 minutes on exercise bike - had forgotten how tough that could be
Wed Aug 6 30 minutes on exercise bike this morning, Even though I have a busy day ahead I hope to squeeze in 15 minutes more.
Thu Aug 7 0 minutes - hubby had a very stressful day at work so I choose to support him rather than exercise.
Fri Aug 8 60 minutes - walking with a friend
Sat Aug 9 60 minutes - Walking

Hi, There,
A newbie here. Wow, you ladies are way ahead of me. But I still will join in the challenge. I commit to exercising 45 mins x 3 days/ week. I feel like a wimp compared to you :) but just got off my behind two weeks ago. I will post weekly.

I just decided I MUST focus on myself to survive. Since April 12, I have been with/ helping my 28 yr old son,Aaron, who went into hosp as total paraplegic. What a journey! Post neck surgery, he has regained some use of arms. Have been caring for him and driving to 6-9 therapy Dr appts/ week. He has been working hard and now can "walk" with assistive devices even tho he is still numb waist down.

I am eating high protein/ low carb starting on my second week. Sweets have always been my downfall. I have not cheated once. A miracle for me! Lol. Yet, proud of myself for sticking to the promise I made to myself.

Everyone have a GREAT day!

Leila

I'm vacationing in Kennebunkport Maine and enjoying lots of walking along beaches, into town and on trails. But I'm also enjoying good food and more than the occasional glass of wine. I'm eating a lot of seafood so I'm hoping that the walking and seafood will balance out the wine and other splurges.

Wow! You ladies are awesome! I can't commit to 45 min, but realistically feel like I can do 30 min, 5 days a week. So game on! Thanks for the challenge!

Sounds good to me. I'll put a sticky on this. I do 45 minutes most days. But, sometimes my motivation slacks.

Hi Judy,

I think that I can do 45 minutes of exercise. I will take you up on your challenge for the month of August! I will begin training tomorrow, as soon as I buy some new tennis shoes so that I can work out on the treadmill at the gym. Between the treadmill and my strength training, I should be able to work in 45 minutes six days a week. It is an ambitious start to the month for me, but the challenge sounds fun! Thanks for the motivation. See you here after the 1st or the 4th. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

I've been absent from this team for a while and checked in to see what's happening/get some more motivation.

I was wondering if anyone is in the mood for a challenge. Personally right now I'm concentrating on building good consistent exercise habits. My goal is at least 45 minutes six days a week. I know that we're all at different places in different journeys in life so I was thinking - how about a "name your own challenge for August"

Figure out what you want to work on in August and share. Share what your goal is, and how often you plan to report. For me the challenge is Get 45 minutes of exercise daily at least six days a week. I will put up a post on Fridays and edit it each day so that the whole week is in one post - very easy to see if I met my goal.

Actually I'll be on vacation next week so maybe it will be Monday August 4th when I first post - but since I plan to workout during vacation maybe I'll manage to do it August 1st.

Hope some of you will join me for a healthy month of August that will turn into a healthy lifetime.

Judy
