tough day trying to get my 10000 steps. I worked in the city today and it was so cold when I went out I just didn't feel like walking :( I did manage to get about 5000 in going in, the subways, walking to the office, running a few errands and then back again. The office I am in the front portion is sublet to another company. They are always freezing and it was stifling. Was going to do a 15 minute express LS walk, but honestly, I think I would have passed out! I had already stripped down to a tee-shirt and was still roasting! Oh well, tomorrow is supposed to be warmer (23) so I'll go out and walk. I only work two days a week right now so at least I can do a little catch up the rest of the week!

According to different sites I've looked at 1 miles equals 2000 steps. Doesn't matter if it's doing a real walk, a treadmill, or a walk dvd. I don't have a working pedometer and I am not in the position to buy a fitbit or any of the other tracking devices. I'll for the time use my miles that I walk at home and base it on the 2000 steps I've looked up! I look at it this way, I'm doing something, and that something is helping me move!!!

Has anyone tried the new Omron (the one you can upload to graph steps etc) or the fitbit? the Omron is cheaper and I had great luck with the Omron pedometer that I had in the past - it seemed to be a lot more accurate than any of the others I tried and it didn't seem to mind if you clipped in the the waistband, pocket or shirtsleeve. If it hadn't gone into the laundry I would probably still be using it as it did seem to motivate me to move more.

Update - I read some reviews and consensus seems to be that for the money Omron is a better buy - unless you're really set on having it upload directly to Sprark.

I don't include "formal exercise" in my step count. Seems everyone does what works for them!

I only make 10,000 steps if it's a true 'exercise' day on my calendar.

I easily make 10,000 steps when I go to the gym. Saturday I made 20,000. If I do the elliptical, I get about 8000 steps for an hour. Today I ran for 15 walked for 15 and got a good chunk of my steps in then. It is my goal this week to make 10,000 a day..will see

I wear my old-school pedometer daily, with a goal of 10,000 steps, but, most weekdays, I don't make it to my goal.

I don't know... I walk 4 miles at least 3 times a week. Sometimes I remember to wear my tracker and sometimes not. I sure do feel better when I put the time in.

I'm not currently counting steps, but when I was, it was hard some days unless I did a lot of walking or running. Truth is the Leslie DVD's are not good for getting steps. My counter wasn't counting the steps very well. My counter also didn't count steps when I mowed the lawn. I think the counters do better on pavement. I had one from my insurance company that I had to upload and sync to a website. Kind of like the Spark one. I'd like to do that again, but now you've reminded me of how frustrated I would get. Now, I count my miles and minutes.

just curious. I'm doing my best, today was tough. Got three miles in (2000 steps a mile) by doing my walk DVD and got another in by just walking around the house (yes, I count!). So I still have 3000 to do and honestly, I could do another 15 minute walk with the dvd, but I'm tired! I am trying to get as many steps in as I can doing laundry and trips to the bathroom, etc. but 3000? :)
