I like the idea of doing the turkey trot, but my family always eats Thanksgiving lunch (meets around 11:30), so that makes it difficult for me to help cook and stuff. I need to check and see when the 5K starts...

Well I'd love to meet up with folks...it doesn't have to be at White Rock either...I just need to get use to running outdoors instead of my trusted treadmill...I was just going to start walking/jogging around the elementary school in my area in the evening.....

Hey guys,

I have a busy race schedule this summer (June 26th Seattle 1/2, 7/17 Too Hot to Handle 15K, 8/1-Chicago 1/2 marathon, August 27th-29th-Hood to Coast Relay, Oct 10-Chicago Marathon), however, I am more than willing to meet up with anyone on the weekends at White Rock Lake when in town.

Oh, I wanna do the Turkey Trot! I've started getting into running several times, and made it to week 6 in the couch to 5k program this last time before (unfortunately) falling away from it. I think the Trot (something I've always wanted to do) will be great for me and something to start training for!

Check out the runontexas.com calendar. They keep a list of all the races coming up. Because of the Texas heat, there aren't too many summer races, but things really pick up in September.

It's Saturday July 17th at Winfrey Point (White Rock Lake). It's one of my favorite summertime races...while it is hot, it is a great training run/race in prep for fall runs/races.

Jerome,

I ran the Rock Marathon relay last year with some HS classmates and we had a great time. I love the Turkey Trot, too! Great way to start Thanksgiving!

Is anyone doing the Too Hot to Handle 5K or 15K July 17th?

I would LOVE to see a bunch of Dallas Sparks get together for this thing ya'll.

I couldn't make up my mind betwen the Turkey Trot or 1/2 the White Rock. I'll start with the Turkey Trot this year, I'm already committed to the White Rock next year with another spark or two.

I'm trying very hard to get running into my daily/weekly routine. As of today, I'm officially in maintenance and I think running 3-4 days a week should do the trick.

Nancy - I may have to lean on your a little for some advice.. :-)...since you're LOCAL and all..hehe

How many miles is it?

Hey Jerome,

I have walked the Turkey Trot the past 5 years...I won't be running as I will still be recovering from the Chicago Marathon 6 weeks earlier and San Antonio 1/2 marathon 2 weeks before. But, I would love to meet up with other SparkMembers and cheer you guys on!

Heck yea! I say I am going to do it every year and then The Lazies get me. I did it three or four years ago and had a great time but have not done it since. So I am totally IN.
