We named Thor after the Norwegian god of Thunder because when he was a kitten he sounded like thunder running on our laminate floors. It was funny so see him skid around a corner and try and stop!

I love names with stories!
Cilantro got her name because she is like the herb's flavor = assertive but not aggressive.
Juneau is named after the capitol of Alaska, where I used to live, where it rains nearly all the time and is grey, just like she is!

I love these stories!!

I have 4 cats myself, the second oldest is going to be 10 this year and how she got her name is pretty funny. My husband turned 30 that year and we went to a Japanese steakhouse for his birthday and a few weeks later we adopted a kitten from a petting zoo. As we were debating what to call her, he says that her coloring reminds him of the steak he had for his birthday, so she became... "Hibachi".

I had a cat when I was a teenage - Jasmine, she was a great cat - and she loved to drink from the sink. We'd let it run just a trickle and she would lap it up.

My Cilantro is like your Sassy. She hates it when I have a bubble bath. A shower is ok, but the bath freaks her out for some reason. She also likes to drink from the sink on occasion, so it's not that she has an aversion to the bathroom. I'd laugh at her, but her look of concern sure is genuine.

These cat stories everyone has are great!

When I was a little girl, I had a cat named Foxy. Foxy was quite a jumper. One day my stepmother was sitting in a folding chair eating pizza when Foxy sprang into action. She got a running start, did a Superman flight through the air for a short time, grabbed my stepmother's pizza in her mouth, landed, and made off with the pizza!!! Wow!!! I guess she was hungry.

Another incident with a cat and pizza happened when I was in college. I made pizza for my dad and put the pizza on the coffee table for him to get when he came back into the room. Then I went back into the kitchen to get my pizza. Just as I came back into the living room I saw her- the cat (Loony) was on the table (not allowed on the table), about to eat dad's pizza! Well, I didn't want the cat getting it, so I went to shoo her away. I was too late. She took one bite of that pizza and this look of total alarm spread across her face. She had eaten a hot pepper! She started pawing at her mouth, then ran several laps around the room before going for her water dish.

In both cases, the victims of the cat pizza attack got new pieces of pizza.

My mother had a cat who would literally cry 'Harold' when he was lonely. (HAR-OLD) All you had to do was call him and he'd be fine.

Gussie is another sink drinker. He won't drink water from a bowl. Daily, in the morning, he and I have battles about just when am I going to get up and 'water' him! I usually get up just to prevent him from getting into any more trouble! lol

Thor likes to drink from the sink or the faucet as well. he likes the bathroom sink and he'll take me to it and jump up on the counter. He has to stick his paw into the water first. Funny kitty.

My kitty Lucy meows when she wants water from the faucett. She has a clean new bowl everyday, sometimes twice a day, but she likes it out the sink sometimes.

My cat Nibby loves to take a shower with my husband every morning. He also plays hide and seek with me.

I LOVE THESE STORIES. I always new cats were persnickety!!! We have four now, one of which is TOTALLY spoiled compared to the other three. My husband & I decided to go out & use the spa, (located three feet mind you, just three feet from our back door,) yesterday afternoon, (first time in several months). Our spoiled little girl, Sassy, name chosen on purpose, came to the back door & just started screaming. Crying, trilling, you name it. She tried to climb the storm door, which she couldn't do as we didn't have the screen open thank goodness. She jumped up into the windows, trying to climb everything she could get her claws into, without much luck thankfully, so all she could do was meow & cry. She actally looked frightened & freaked out. We only stayed in about 1/2 hour & decided we better get back into the house before she gave herself a heart attack or something. As soon as we were inside, she was fine. She went about her business as if nothing had accured outside. She was in my lap as soon as possible as usual. We think maybe she seen the spa as something that was going to take us away from her. She is the biggest baby I have ever had & believe me I have had many cats in my life. (One that used to go to work with me when I was a teen.) Probably had upwards of 15 or so. But I wouldn't have it any other way, I don't think I could live without at least one cat in my life. They are always there when we need them. emoticon

Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it.

Cats do make particular sounds if they want certain things. There is a particular trill (sounds like a question) that means "Where are you?". I would mimic it to call one of my cats. Yes, he came when I called him (Deeks was a good boy).

If I hear my cats make that trill, I just call out to them, so they know where I am--it's far easier for them to find me than the other way around. ;)

I loved those stories. My Thor will meow too and we go to see what he wants and he leads us to the area rug in the living room (we have tile floors) and he wants to be brushed! He lays right down and waits.

My cat Scarlett will do that about once a week, when it's night time and she wants someone to play with her in another room than the one I'm in. LOL

That is cute. We have a cat that calls out in a mournful tone also. We believe he is calling for the other cat.

That's funny. How old is your cat? Mine is an oldtimer (19-1/2) and he goes around yowling quite a bit, usually when he wants something, but we have to figure out what it is.

Yesterday I heard him going on and on and finally found him in the bedroom, staring at the bed. He can climb up but I guess he decided this time it was just too much so he was calling for me to lift him up. As soon as I did this he calmed down and settled in for a good long nap.

I have a cat that can see too well and sometimes she'll just start crying if we're not in the room with her (I think she's saying, Hey where is everybody) So usually we go and get her. (Mind you our place is small -- single story 2 BR condo so it funny she gets lost).

So the other night while we were sleeping we heard her crying. DH went to get her but SHE wasn't the one crying. It was a cat in one of the other condos. Now I wonder if all her crying is just communicating with this other cat, LOL.
