So how many miles/steps per day or do we set that individually?

I am in. I need to do more. Hate the hot weather, but I need to walk more.

We are planning on a cleanup, BBQ, and campout at the end of Copper Creek Road in Lincoln on August 7. We snowmobile up at the bowls and we will be hiking up there to clean up sled parts and garbage as best we can. Then we will BBQ and stay the night. I am hoping to hike back up on Sunday, but that may be a little too much. Everyone is welcome to join in. You do not have to snowmobile, just be able to hike and have a desire to keep our environment clean. I am hoping to burn some calories and earn lots of miles.

I'm in. I also track my steps on www.walkertracker.com which is free. One of my dogs had knee surgery and hopefully will get the go ahead to get more exercise the first part of August which will in turn get me up and out walking!

I want to do this! I will need to purchase a good pedometer, but would like one anyway so that's ok. Any recommendations for one that is good but not too expensive? (message me direct if so please)

I want to participate in the August walking challenge. My pedometer has a mileage tracker as well as a step tracker on it so I don't think I'll need to convert my miles...don't know though as I've never been in a challenge before. I do track all my mileage for my 1,000 Mile Journey though.

Hey Team--

Please let me know if you'll be interested in participating in the August Walking Challenge. It will be for this month only and we'll try to reach our goal, which I will announce when I know how many people would like to participate. Here's what you'll be expected to do:

MOVE! All of your fitness can count toward your weekly mile tally. Biking, Hiking, Walking, Running, whatever! You can convert it into miles. Here's one site but there are plenty more. Find one that you like! www.walk4life.com/customerservice/fo

You'll need a pedometer. You can find them on the internet or almost anywhere. Wear it every day to assist you in deciding how many miles you've done that day. (You'll have to convert steps to miles on the web each day, or at the end of the week). It's important to also measure your stride length. (Just take a step and have someone measure the length). This has an impact on the step to mile conversion.

Finally, you'll have to make a commitment to record your miles each week and report them on the team page EVERY MONDAY. It would be great to have them all on one day so that I can provide weekly updates on our progress.

If you participate you'll receive (drum roll please)... A FABULOUS SPARK GOODIE!! And the satisfaction of completing a walking challenge and getting motivated!

Please sign up and let me know if you have questions. The deadline to sign up is June 29th! I need some time to decide a route and get everything in place before the 1st. LET'S DO THIS! Best, Erin
