Some great ideas here.

I eat a lot of raw veggies and fruits too every day. I also sometimes add almonds or cashews, or pistachios to what I eat - they are all kind of pricey, so I don't have them around all the time, but when I do I get them at Costco where they're usually cheaper.

Cathi - your Sunshine Salad sounds really good! Would you mind sharing the recipe? It's only 2 weeks until Thanksgiving, and it's nice to have a new recipe to share with family and friends - not that any of the 'males' like to try anything new... hehehe

I'm finding that raw fruit is getting "squished" in my backpack when I go hiking. So for my hiking trips, I do nuts, granola & seeds like sunflower, caraway & fennel.

No ideas to add to this thread but as Dawn said, I am getting some great ideas for snacks. Some of which I will incorporate in my food plan.

Take care everyone,

I build into my plan each day four servings of fresh fruit and four servings of raw veggies. I'll slice an orange and an apple and a couple stalks of celery and carrots, maybe a cucumber, and nibble away. That gives me a lot of chew power! I will have one serving of almonds or peanuts if my fat range can fit it, one serving of pretzle sticks if my carbs range allows it, popcorn. If I'm actually hungry, versus having the need to chew, I will have a bowl of oatmeal as a snack since it's filling and keeps me from wanting to graze!

I keep hearing about humus. I've never heard of it before now. Gonna have to find that and try it! Excellent feedback here. Great ideas!

My usual snacks are red pepper with hummus, red grapes, dried fruit, or an apple with some almond butter. But when a salty snack is what I want, I like 'Blue Ginger' Multi-Grain Brown Rice Chips. One serving is 33 chips, and get this--110 calories! But when chocolate is calling my name, I like 'Emerald' Cocoa Roast Almonds. I measure out one serving which is one ounce and 150 calories, and savor each nut! Another good choice to calm the chocolate craving is 'Kashi' Dark Chocolate Coconut TLC bars.

I love something called Sunshine Salad. It is orange and lemon jello with crushed pineapple and shredded carrots. It is slightly tart but sweet and oh so refreshing. It takes care of the need for sweet and the need for crunchy. If you use sugar-free jello it is hardly any calories but lots of flavor and fiber.

I also like the Chex Mix Turtle bar. It is so sweet that one or half of one will do me. I wait and get them on sale so haven't had them in a while.

Carrots, cucumber, grape tomatoes, grapes, anything small that can go in a baggie and go with me is a winner.

This is the time of year for Concord grapes. Man I LOVE those things.

grapes, bananas, strawberries & nuts are my favorites. I throw in some other types of raw fruits for variety so I don't get bored.

I'm on a low carb diet, so my snack is nuts. I take a small handful in a snack baggie and put them in my purse so I can deal with low blood sugar before I feel sick. I've lost 6 pounds over the last 3 weeks.

One of my favorites is grapes, cleaned, put into ziplock with a small box of diet jello. Freeze and after frozen have 10 frozen grapes for a snack.

I take fruit for snacks. I also have gotten All Clusters cereal and measure out a portion of it and add a portion of craisins to make a homemade granola type snack.

Hi all, I'm on week 2 and starting to get bored with my snacks. Does anyone have a favorite snack that's fast and easy to bring to work?

Thanks and good luck to all in your journey!
