Okay, I'll try this again since the cyber thief took the last one! Looks like the weather is the topic of the day---Kansas has had pretty moderate temperatures so far this winter. It's supposed to be in the 50's today and up into the 70's by the first of the week. Winter, huh? We're supposed to get some rain this evening--an inch or two would help.

Cat, my guess is that you're doing nothing wrong. I've dealt with that frustration and not understanding what my body is doing. I don't have any answers, but I know that you need to stay consistent; the scales will eventually move again.

My cough is worse today than yesterday. I've cancelled my trip to San Antonio--luckily, I got insurance this time. I'm trying to finish up a driving course online (I Drive Safely) to get a discount on my car insurance. It's very time-intensive. I have nearly two sections left to finish, hopefully this weekend.

Cat - I bet you will be missed, too. Sometimes we don't realize how we touch lives.

As far as my week - work was crazy and hard to keep up on drinking water. It was so cold I kept going for the coffee. I did much better on good lunches all week - extra veggies.

Joining in on this challenge. Better late than never. I am 50 pounds overweight, and have struggled with trying to lose it for the past 10 years. If lost 1 pound a week...I'd be at my goal in 1 year!
I am going to commit to learning to MOVE and LOSE weight by eating right and by committing to having a POSITIVE ATTITUDE/SELF-IMAGE, if I don't send myself good thoughts and use positive thinking...I will never succeed.

Weather here in MD is 22 degrees and snowing. I couldn't get up my driveway as it is at a 45 degree angle so had to park in the cul de sac across the street. I am hoping know one hits it. There is no place to put it. So I do what I can.

I have been eating on plan, but the scale isn't budging. So I see no hope for Monday in that category. I will eat portion controlled meals. My blood sugars are real good. So I haven't figured what I am doing wrong.

I had to successfully discharge my favorite client. I have had her for 5 years and she has made so much progress. She no longer needs therapy only medication . So she is going to meds only. I am sad about this. I would have kept her, but I would only stifle her. I got her and she didn't talk and now she talks up a storm in school. (selective mutism brought on by anxiety). I had her since she was 5 years old. I watched her grow up in more ways than one. She will be sorely missed.

Have a good night!
Take Care!

Weather hear in MT in the 30-40 range enough of a breeze that its not real warm yet but it is melting some of the drifts that are left. Kind of a gloomy day which sets the mood for me, so its been a lazy day.. Need to fix a nice pot of chicken soup that is always a comforter. Pounds are going down slow but steady again......

cold and snowing emoticon here. I'm resting up today to shovel and plow out tomorrow afternoon when it warms up a bit (mid 20's). Due to the cold it is a light, fluffy snow. The birds are really flocking the feeder.

I've been keeping my calories in the middle of my range and getting enough protein, carbs and fiber. By tomorrow the fitness minutes and calories burned will be above my goal for the week. Hope that all adds up to a loss by Tuesday.

Slowly getting back on track. Having a few stomach issues. Hoping it will be better by tomorrow. I refuse to get sick! The kids at both schools have been getting sick, and we keep sending them home. Lots of hand washing and hand sanitizer. My hands are so bad because of it.

Just went out to finally pick up the mail and it's raining. I hope it rains all night and stops in the morning so I won't get wet on my long commute. Keeping my fingers crossed and saying my prayers.

Off to shower and then bed.

Good night all!

The doctor started me on a new antibiotic and some cough pills. Hopefully, it gets rid of this bronchial stuff. It's been a long week...oh, yeah, it's not over yet, is it?

I had three days of the scales moving down and then they started to rebound...nothing's changed as far as calories. I've not been getting in as many steps, but that's true of the days the scales were moving down too. I'm still measuring, still tracking, still drinking lots of water.

''Eating Smarter''..........good way to put it Lesia.

One more thought on this topic, when you ''eat smart'' and occasionally your over your caloric intake....what's amazing, you will still lose. Key word.....''occasionally.''

Good nutrition carrys you a long way.

Irene - You are so right, at least in my experience also. I've proven it time and again to myself that if I make bad choices I will still gain even if I stay around 1200 cal for the day! So it's not necessarily eating less. The key, I think, is to eating smarter.

I still struggle with too much sodium and sugar and not enough fiber in my diet, even though my calories are always within range. So, consequently I still do the 2 lbs down 2lbs up dance, but I'm working on it. It sure is a learning experience.

No doubt, anyone can lose a pound week........I do; consistently.

A calorie is ''not'' a calorie. When we get our calories from foods that have no nutritional value... the scale says it all........even when we stayed within our caloric range...........

.........At least, that is my experience.

Have a great day team.

Woo-Hoo, I made up this week for the gain last week, and a bit more. Lost 3 lbs. Finally on my way down I hope. Now to not gain it all back again. It's not easy and I often feel like I'm in a fight with myself. I've recently made a few major changes. Cutting back a bit more on the plates I fix for myself, smaller portions of most things. Very small portion of dessert, if I have one at all. Cut out all sodas and drinking a lot more water etc. I think all these little changes have mad a big difference.

Thats what It takes. I have a picture somewhere where there are steps that say I don't want to, I can't, maybe, its a start, just a little at a time, maybe next step is easier, I'm on my way, almost there, the I MADE IT! It helps.

It seems like a pound is only 16 ounces then you look at a pound of hamburger, then you realize just how much it really is. It really helps when you get down and out and want to eat.

SweetAddiction,

If you figure it out please let me know. I don't have a FITBIT ONE, just the Zip but I do wake up several times during the night and am constantly moving from side to side. Even with 8 hours I'm still tired in the morning. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I too, have slipped up this week. Not sure what changed since I was doing so well. But I will figure it out. Need to start journaling again if I could only find the time. Back on track tonight though, I'm not giving up.

Have a wonderful Thursday. Stay healthy, warm and dry.

not really losing but not gaining either, this is good. i am getting lots of steps in on the fit bit one. but i am really focusing on the sleep part. has complained for years of always feeling tired now i know why thanks ot the fit bit one. i am a restless and active moving sleeper. no wonder i am tired. the longest i go is about an hour without moving. now if i knew of a way to get a more substantial sleep, i might have more energy.

I agree Nadine - I always try to visualize how much better I'll look and feel and that keeps me going. We all have the occasional slip up. The main thing is to not give up and let the occasional slip become permanent. I know it's difficult but I'm truly trying to pick myself back up right after the slip up, not tomorrow or next week, but right now! Coming here to read all the posts helps alot. It makes me feel like I'm not alone and there are people here who know exactly how I feel and what I'm going through. The support here is amazing! emoticon

I notice that on my start page there is an article about keeping the momentum going. It's so easy to lay off or give up or abandon your plans. Think how pleased we all will be at Easter when we are 13 pounds lighter. That kind of thinking motivates me!

to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Lesia, The week-ends are a tough one. I know, it can almost become a ritual to get into things that were manageable all week. I guess, planning is the only way around it but at the same time, enjoying something special and delicious when the week-end comes around.

Great to see all the losses and to those who are getting off to a slow start, we're here for you.

I have been wearing the baggiest pants for months. They were an incentive about just how far, I have come. I bought new pants today and they too give me incentive but in a more fitting way.

Not much here, things have been going well. Down 8# since the 1st. Was up a bit this morning. Need to get back to consistency. I think having that extra day off messed me up. Oh, well, going to be super careful the rest of the week.

Have a great week ahead.

it is really great to see how many people are posting here. i had a great day yesterday and got some organization going in husbands room while he was on the treadmill for the doctor for his breathing. then i had to load the car to go to my home away from home. today was back to work and overall it wasnt bad. the fit bit one tracker is helping me to see why i am always tired. i move around alot in my sleep. i also have a cpap machine which i thought was supposed to help me sleep. it lied. i can be in bed for 7-8 hours but only really get 4 hours of rest. now if i could figure out a way to make the rest longer. dishes are done and i am going to sit on the exercise ball for a bit see if i can wiggle some of the pounds away.

I'm not going to give you any suggestions because I'm sure like me, intellectually, you know what to do - its emotionally getting past this brief period that's a challenge for me too - so I'm giving you sympathy and support - I'm about where you are - eating the right foods, getting in some activity, but not losing...this too will pass! Right? Good luck! Nanci

190.2 pounds--a mild loss. I have decided to give me some special time everyday--not to relax but to find something active that I enjoy doing. I am competitive and I know that many of you do this anyway. I have decided to do Wii because it is fun. I continue to do the treadmill 4 times per week and my strength training 2 times per week and I know that I have to continue forever--I still have a lot of weight to go. My diet seems pretty much like a diabetic diet-one serving of fruit, one serving of vegetable, one serving of 3 ounce meat or equivalent, one serving of bread, one serving of milk (all) three times per day. I have an occasional glass of wine in the evening but not everyday. I amdoing okay.

So many successes to read about. Have not lost any weight in 3 weeks due to a lack of control. For the most part I am eating healthy & drinking lots of water. Exercise has not been good. I think that comes with the territory of eating too much. As I said, am eating good stuff - whole grains, lots of veggies, some fresh fruit & lean protein but portion control & self discipline is gone. Any suggestions?

We're not getting a lot of snow, about 1.5" yesterday, but the temperature is about 11 and forecast is 0 tonight and only16 tomorrow and only in the 20's the rest of the week. Last week we had our January thaw and temps near 40. The snow is beautiful but this arctic weather is terrible.

Betty, are you in the part of the country that's being hit hard with the snow from this latest Canadian front coming down? It's cold here but nothing like it could be. I know it's winter, but Kansas has been warmer than normal for several winters now. I love to look at the snow but I'm not crazy about being out in it; yet we desperately need the moisture.

I need to make a grocery list and get to the store.

Scale was not kind.... up almost 2 lbs. My clothes aren't showing a gain so I'm hoping it's water.

Good morning from arctic southwest PA, 5 degrees this morning at 8:30.

emoticon I must have done something right this week, I'm down 2.5# for a total of 51# and 5# for the Easter Challenge! I have lost all the weight I gained over Christmas plus 1#.

Consistency is the key..... this week I consistently .... drank my water, ate in range, and got my fitness in making sure to burn 100 calories a day, 5 days last week.

Irene, I had another "aha" moment--thank you again!! The scales started moving again...down three days running. When I looked at my daily summary...all nutrients (carbs, fat, protein) and calories were in the right place! Now, I'm quite sure that's happened before; this time I noticed and connected it with the loss.

Betty, keep drinking! I'll buy the next round.

Cat, my computer did that the other night. It's so frustrating and I couldn't find a fix. I finally just restarted it--problem fixed. Do I understand? No, but it worked.

Meemah, we all need an assortment of tools in our toolbox. This is an important one.

Carol6x, do what works for you. Your return to work is coming up pretty fast, and the changes you've made will even affect co-workers. Work schedules sometimes make the scheduled eating harder...be strong.

Cat, as an English teacher, voice was one of the hardest components of writing to teach. My thought is that the authenticity of your voice comes with practice. So many things go into writing "sounding" like you; it may just "happen" for some, but I firmly believe that would be the exception. I think I found my voice writing poetry long before prose. Keep working at it.

Back2me, I'm not real big on measuring--mostly because I feel it's hard to get accurate measurements when I'm doing it by myself, but I admire the fact that you do. Loss of weight and inches tell the story...good luck.

Saintbernard, the temp is 18 here, and we could certainly use some moisture here--not happening this week. The "no call list" is replete with exceptions. If you've done business with a company, they can still call you; so can every single organization wanting donations. I had failed to realize how many people (organizations) actually had a hand out wanting my money.

Fancy, last I checked no one was correcting grammar or punctuation here. Calories and change seem to be the topics--not commas and spelling.

Diet_Friend, I have no suggestions for the fitness tracker. My Fitbit tracks what it tracks--okay by me! I'm not sure exactly what happens...but I let it happen and don't worry about it.

My z-pac is finished, but I still have congestion. I'm beginning to wonder if I should cancel my trip to San Antonio--can't imagine being among the masses being too conducive to healing. I see the doctor on Thursday.

Beautiful day to all,
Kathy

Back down this week...I think the difference is consistency, just like Irene says. I also think that what makes a difference for me is when I don't obsess, but I do plan ahead. During the week it's so much easier that the weekends because of the routine of work and pretty much regular mealtimes. It's the weekends I really need to work on.

Hello Ladies, Glad to see that some of you are in the ''zone'' where you are consistent.

The weight not only comes off but stays off.

Now, you rule the scale.

Further more, the longer you stay consistent............ it does become more of a life style choice rather than something........ self-imposed.

Irene

I don't see anything different on my fitness tracker. I've been entering my Wii on the new tracker by minutes and calories burned.

Diet Friend, since I have the fitbit zip it tracks all my movements for me. So I really don't need to look at the fitness tracker much.

Doing well, down another 2 lbs.

12/31 - 225
1/7 - 221
1/14 - 219
1/21 - 217

Been doing well with eating healthy and making good choices. Have learned to stop when I want to emotional eat or stress eat and ask myself why?

Off to fix dinner.

Chris

Am I the only one whose fitness tracker just changed a bit? I was getting pretty good at tracking my Wii Fit activities. I just call them "Wii Fit Plus Activities" and log whatever time and calories the Wii says I used. It's not all cardio and it's not all strength. It's a hybrid!

ANYWAY, I have all these calisthenics showing up on my tracker and maybe I should be doing them? Thoughts anyone?

4/3- 4/10 4/17 4/24 5/1 5/8 5/15 5/22 5/29 6/5 6/12 6/19 6/26 7/4

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

OK, I felt really bloated and yucky today. My own fault. I ate some things over the weekend I shouldn't have and now I am paying for it. My weigh in is tomorrow so I guess we'll see what the damage is. As for today I have tracked everything I ate and worked out on the wii. It did feel good.

I bet you gals can tell I'm not a writer!!!!!!!

Making slow but steady progress so far with a long way to go yet - but taking it one pound at a time. Today I finally bit the bullet and took my measurements. Yes, I want to lose weight, but there are a couple of areas on my body that made me realize one day that I needed to step on the scales, assess the damage I'd been doing to myself, and start living a healthier lifestyle.
I will enjoy seeing some inches come off the two areas that bother me the most right now (upper arms & calves).
It won't be quite a month from today, but I've decided to re-measure on Valentine's Day. I'm going to work hard so that I can give myself a nice Valentine's Day treat - smaller measurements. Even if it's less than an inch, I just want the numbers to be smaller.
One fraction of an inch at a time! emoticon
