Hi everyone! I am a 36yo, married, mother of 2, who is self employed and fed up with my weight gain. My goal is to lose 87 lbs by the end of 2010. I have been increasingly concerned about my health. I have High BP and PCOS now, and I fear what could be coming down the pipe if i don't take charge now. I am also concerned about the legacy I am creating for my children with my poor example.

I am self employed and my job requires me to meet & be around new people all the time. I just want to stay in and stay hidden. I don't feel confident or attractive in this body. I feel like there is somebody else living in my body besides me and they're taking over!

Hi my name is Celeste. I am new to SP. I am trying so hard to lose at least 50 lbs. I never seem to be able to stay motivated. I have tried everything. I am new to the town I live in, so I don't have anyone local to offer support. So that makes it really hard. So I am now looking for the support and motivation from SP.

Hello, my name is Christian and this is my day one. I am about 5'8" and 235 lbs. I was around 200 until three years ago when I quit smoking and have ballooned up quite nicely since then. I am here to get back to my old weight of 200 and would like even better to get to my weight of 185 from the military. I am making my first serious effort in years to become healthy again and to look better for my girlfriend.

My name is Stacey I'm from the small town of Jackman Maine. I had a hysterectomy last April and have had a few complication since. The Doctor at my last visit said to me that I have to loose 50 Lbs in order to avoid having to have surgery again... and another 8 weeks of not doing anything, and then months of not being able to lift. I decided that enough is enough. I want to live by example showing my kids and the kids I volunteer with at our school program that it a healthier life style that makes all the difference in your life and quality of life.. Right now I'm at my first weigh I was a little scared but i know what I'm dealing with it is actually 49 lbs now.. and I bought a Wii and I started the Wii Active yesterday.. Boy is that fun!!! Well all in all i have to do this for myself and for my family.. I just hope that my husband joins me as I'm writing this his made two breakfast sandwiches and is eating it in front of me... Why?? Does he not see that it rude and mean to do??? Any suggestions?

Hi All! My name is Alyssa and I'm 38. I'm a CA native but living in the mid-west with my husband and son who's 5. I also have a daughter from a prev marriage who is 20 who's given me two beautiful grand-children.

I've lost weight before, having been a WW and WW Leader. I lost 98.2 pounds but I got really sick and developed a serious thyroid issue that had to be radiated. It's been cleared up but now I have to lose the weight all over again. It's depressing - not that I'm depressed though.

Yesterday was my Day One and I'm excited. I had support with my other group but then I became a Leader and I remained motivated by their being motivated. Now, I'm a homeschool mom who rarely goes anywhere unless it's school or extra-curricular related. I didn't have the motivation or support anymore.

My husband is my biggest fan and helps me in all ways but he is also my Achilles! He lives to eat and it affects me greatly. I have to chase him away and constantly fight the urges to nibble from his offerings. It's tough and I know he means well but he doesn't always help with his help.

I'm seeking help in motivations and pray that I can make many friends to accomplish just that. Good luck to you all and thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself.

Hey there everyone!

I am new here.. Just started using this site about a week ago.. already lost 2 pounds though!! My friend and I joined the YMCA and are working out together almost every day.

I am 32 years old, single, no kids. I am currently in graduate school, going for my Master of Social Work degree. I have a little over a year and a half to go, and I want to look good when I get my diploma!

Anyways, I am here mainly for support and to track my goals.

Hi everyone. I am 32, no kids, but have a great fiance and family, friends and job.

I have decided to stop ignoring the pink elephant in my life and do something about it. I have been carrying around an extra 60lbs for 15 years and have come to a point where I am ready and want to let it go.

Everything else in my life is going well, and I feel like I am at a point where I can commit to making the changes in my life.

Hi, I just joined Sparkspeople. I'm 31, married with 3 kids. Needless to say with 12 years of marriage and three kids under my belt I have gained some extra baggage over the years. 50lbs of extra baggage to be exact...yes, I'm admitting it. I want to start learning healthier habits that will allow me to shed the pounds. My side of the family has always had issues with weight and I want to set an example for my kids.

Hi there! My name is Amber. Several years ago I took in two small children who needed a home and promptly put my life and needs on a shelf. Oops - classic rookie-mom mistake. I've recently dusted off my ambition at 35 years old and moved two states away from home to live in a dorm (with the kidlets) and attend school fulltime. Since I like a challenge, I've also decided to get rid of this chub I packed on in the last several years and start my weight loss journey as well. I'm hoping to make 2010 my healthiest year to date. So glad I found this great website considering I definitely live life on a tight budget.

Hey everyone I'm Rachel. Like so many, I have struggled with my weight for my entire life. I don't ever remember a time where I was thin, though there have been a couple times where I was at least happier with my body. I want to change this. I want to love my body and not constantly be at odds with it. I don't believe that being healthy or being happy with your body means being a certain size or weight, but that said, I'd like to lose about 80 pounds. I'm tired of constantly being worried about my health and think it's time I just live a healthy life style full stop.

Hello, I'm Hallie, I'm 36 and always been considered fat even as a plump child. Last year I lost 75 pounds following the program at ediets.com, and I still have further to go, but I'm not sure how much further. I'm at about 209 pounds today. My motivation is to lose my large belly. And just see what it's like for me to be slender for at least once in my life. I'm at sparkpeople to use the nutrition counter, find motivation for diet and exercise, and to learn how to wean myself from ediets.com and its monthly membership fee.

Hi. I'm new here. Signed up about a month ago with the best intentions...first time I've been back on here since. I'm 38, mother of a 15 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. My husband is gone from home working M-F, so during the week I'm pretty much a single mom. I'm a preschool teacher. I've always had a weight problem and I am so tired of it, tired of being fat, tired of having no energy, tired of having to buy plus clothes, etc etc. But I also have no will power. If I have a bad day, I grab chocolate, caffeine, or carbs. If I am happy I eat, sad-eat, depressed-eat, mad-eat. I need help. Really, help, please.

Hi. I'm Secelia, a 34 yo mother of 2. I currently weigh 193.2 lbs. and plan to lose 50 lbs by next January. I am not new to SP. I was a member 3 years ago. I lost weight but fell back into my bad habits plus was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I'm tired of using my meds and health issues as an excuse (I also have bipolar disorder). There's no excuse to be unhealthy. I'm ready to do this this time. I'll be 35 in 10 days and plan to have lost 3 lbs by my birthday.

I am Dana, a stay at home mom of two boys 8 and 5. I am also a student for the second time in life. I decided that since both my boys will be in school soon, I needed to figure out what I want to do. I have been overweight most of my life, but before my second son was born, got down to a very healthy weight and lifestyle. A couple years ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and some anxiety issues. I began gaining more weight with the anti-anxiety meds and have just gotten back to being more overweight than I ever wanted to be again. I want to change my lifestyle for good, get off of both my meds and invest in myself. I know I can do it. I just need to figure how to best use the tools on here. emoticon

I've always been a thick mamma, with weight ranging from 170-180, but I've seemed to just pack on the pounds after my son was born and being 5'6 and weighing 238 is the most I've ever weighed. I feel tired allot and very unhealthy and I'm really wanting to loose at least 100 pounds by my next birthday in 2011. I'm in Salt Lake City so anybody who needs an exercise buddy I'm game!!! Hi I'm Ninya, I just turned 30, 5 weeks ago and I'm here to get serious about losing weight. Rose~ I'm sorry to hear about the Grave's diagnosis. My MIL was diagnosed in 2004--it really did a number on her body and I know that the meds make her very, very tired. She works, but spends every empty second of her life in bed reading or watching TV! I'm cheering you on!

Hi! My name is Rose, I am 39 ( 6 1/2 weeks until I turn 40 emoticon ). I am the mother of 2 kids, 8 and 2. I have about 53 pounds to lose (already lost 6 on this great program). My husband and kids like to be active and do things outdoors and I never have the energy to go along. I have lost about 65 pounds about 11 years ago but gained it all back after being diagnosed and treated for grave's disease (hyperthyroid). I felt so good back then and I was up for any kind of activity. I just want that great feeling back again and I want to be able to really play with my kids. That is the motivation I am using to get me through this.

Hi everyone!

I'm 34, and have been married for 2 years. No children, but part of the reason is that I don't feel healthy enough to have any at this point. I need to lose a minimum of 50 pounds, and my goal weight is 74 pounds away.

I'm a social worker and caregiver for my husband, who uses a wheelchair. Looking forward to making progress toward my goal, and am hoping to look back at this year with a sense of pride and accomplishment instead of sadness and regret.

Hello Everyone,
I am a 33 year old mother of two. I've been married for 7 years and although I don't like to make excuses, here goes. I gained quite a bit after the birth of my boys ages 6 and 3 and I recently and unexpectantly lost my 56 year old mother in January. There are just sooo many reasons for me to lose weight and just be healthy and that should be enough to motivate me but chocolate chip cookies scream my name. Before the holidays, I signed up with the Quick Weight Loss Center here in Texas and I had lost 17 lbs. After the holidays and the funeral, it has all come back. I like cooking and eating healthy. It's the emotional snacking that gets me.

Hi! My name is Tonya. I currently just joined SparkPeople last week. I live in Houston. I'm 36 married for 17 yrs, and have 4 kids ages: 16, 14, 12 & 3. I have a goal to loose 120 lbs. first post ever!

i'm just south of seattle, and i'd love to meet someone to work out with. i need the motivation, and when i feel like i won't let someone else down, i'm far more willing to GO and work out! dunno why i can't translate that so i don't go letting my own self down... grr..

i never realized i'd 'gained' so much weight, because i've always seen myself as height-weight proportionate. however, as the number on the scale has crept up, i am finally able to realize that i am NOT proportionate, and that i have gained enough weight that i have got to finally put a stop to it. i've started working out at work daily for between 20-40 minutes. sometimes treadmill, sometimes recumbent bike, sometimes elliptical. i haven't yet 'joined' a gym yet because i will be moving in a few months as my lease is up. since my household only has one car, i need to ensure my gym is located near my house!

anyhow - i'm nervous about this journey, from this vantage point it seems impossible to fathom that the weight loss is possible... But i know i can do it with this huge, supportive community around me - however virtual it may be!

I am a thirty three year old female from Mississippi that is going to lose fifty to sixty pounds this year. I am married going on ten years this October and have no children. I work a full time job that I love. I started working out in a gym in November. Started calorie counting after the holidays. This is the biggest I have ever been. Before getting married I never had a weight problem. I want to be able to fit back into my wedding dress this fall for our ten year anniversary and I will be thirty five next Feb. I want to develop a long term healthier lifestyle of exercise and eating. My sister and I are in a weight loss competition between the two of us. My aunt told me about the website. I have lost nine pounds this month.

Hi, I'm Kelly and I'm turning 37 in Feb. I live in Ontario Canada. I've been married for 17 years and have 2 sons 15 and 8. I have about 65 lbs. to lose, I lost about 25 lbs after my 2nd child and have kept it off but everytime I lose more than that it seems to find me again and settle back in. Hi! I have been exploring the SparkPeople website for awhile, and am ready now to take the plunge. I am 34 years old and the mother of two very energetic children-a 3-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy. I have been overweight for most of my life, but it has gotten out of control because I spent my free time taking care of my kids and not taking care of myself. I am now ready to change. I want more energy to take care of them, and I want them to know that their mom values herself. Good luck to everyone!

Hi, I'm 31 and want to lose 56lbs by this Christmas.

Before having my kids, I lost 25lbs (easily) on Weight Watchers. After having my son (who is now 2yrs old) I gained 30 lbs. Thats more than I gained while pregnant with him.

While pregnant with him I was on BabyFit.com & right after giving birth I tried SparkPeople to lose the weight I gained after having kids. For 6 months I tried with less than 5 pounds lost. I became almost bitter about it & gave up. Turns out my thyroid was not behaving again & that was hurting my ability to lose weight.

Now I am back to actually lose the weight. I've got my thyroid problem better controled, plus I've got a new way of looking at my weight loss journey.

I've decided to become a better mom & with that I need to have the energy to play with kids. Along with becoming healthier so I can be around for them when they are adults.

I guess thats the start of my story...

hi im am 39 years old and im hoping this site will help me reach a goal that weight loss surgery didnt. My goal is 199. Im hoping by typing and seeing how i snack I can mange my weight loss. my biggest problem is bordom eating and not wanting to start exercising. one i start i always finish so im hoping this will help me get motivated.
I have 3 children. and work 2 jobs so any help on healthy snacking between jobs will be great.

Hi! I'm Brie. Lost 40 lbs on here in 2008, pregoo in 08-09 (Babyfit.com April 2009 board!!) ... had an amazing wonderful perfect baby girl April 2009 and thought: "Oh, breast feeding will take care of all this weight" BWwwaahahaahahahahah! Not so much... :( I need to get back into exercising--my body craves it. Stress and some dieting has kick-started my re-commitment to weight loss by I really need support. I look forward to meeting everyone.
