Keep trying. I've been here 6 months and I have only lost 10 pounds and that is after I worked at Curves for a few months working out several times a week. I have about the same amount of weight you have to lose and I have broken it into to two chunks. 50 pounds this year and 50 pounds next year. My ticker shows 50 pounds only. If I lose more I will be really happy, but I heard it is really unrealistic and unhealthy to lose so much weight in a year - unless you have surgery or something. I want to be fit by 40 and I have one year but I know I can't lose it all by then so I am just taking it one day at a time. Good luck.

You can do this! One pound (or ounce) at a time!!! I changed my ticker to pounds lost and it is so much fun to see it going down - slowly, but surely! I had 75 to lose and I'm down 22 and a little stuck, but know I can do it! You can, too! Can't wait to watch you shrink!

Good Luck to you!! I know you can do it. I am like a lot of the folks that replied here for you.. I am going by a few pounds to lose, rather than look at the big picture. I am doing the 10 pounds.. and when I loose 10.. then I go for 10 more. That way, you are more apt to reach your "goal" (being the 10 pounds) and see more changes and you will be motivated to continue on. Trying to shed 106 pounds is a big task (trust me, I'm right behind you).. so start off smaller and you'll feel better about what you are accomplishing!
Keep up the good work!

Ruby, you took on a lot at once, you are doing fantastic! The thing is, looking at others tickers, you don't always know how long they've been fighting the battle. For me, it's been over a year, but I have some self destructive behavior I am trying to get a handle on.

Hi. I'm going to ditto what others are saying. Start slow. Set small achievable goals and build on them. I have a lot of weight to lose too, but if you look at your ticker, you'll see my first long term goal is 40 lbs. I actually set my first weightloss goal for 10 lbs. I started really small...drinking 2 cups of water a day and adding to that until I got in 8
+ cups. Walking 1 mile a day...now I can do 5. You will be doing it before you know it!

I also have over 100 pounds to lose, and yes I get discouraged and sidetracked and everything else...but maybe you have given me the solution to my frustration...take it a little bit at a time and when i get frustrated get off of my "A" and on my "F" and work out!

Its a slow process and remember baby steps. You do not want to lose it too fast.

You can do this. We all can one minute at a time if necessary.

I too am starting at the weight you are. I focus on one day at a time. I try to stay on course with my food and when I get past the day I take a deep breath and say 1 day down. Thats all you can do take it one day at a time. If its a tough day and it doesnt go as planned I plan better for the next day. Good luck and make sure to set realistic goals.

My mother lost 55 pounds on spark people. She said the very best "advice" or comment someone told her was this...."You did not gain all of the weight in a day, week, or month so you can't expect to lose it on a day, week, or month."

If you think back to how fast you gained the weight, it probably seemed very quick....even if it happened over many years. Remember in the end that is how quickly it will feel once you lose it.

Be patient and it will happen. This is what I tell myself too.

In one of the articles on here is said to focus on 10% of your body weight to lose. That number still seemed intimidating to me, so I am focusing on 10lbs. Remember little steps and even if one day doesn't go as planned, it does not mean failure. It means try to learn how to deal or what happened and make the next one better. Good Luck

Smile, it makes everyone wonder what you are up to!!!! ; )

Welcome and Hi. I agree with other posts to take it one day at a time and to focus on smaller amounts to lose. Personally I wanted to get healthy and feel good more than lose weight (although I had and still have a lot to lose). I recognized every positive step I made - like eating a healthy meal, pushing myself a little further at the gym. Just the change in attitude to focus on the positives instead of the whole journey has helped me a ton.

Making little improvements every day. Loving the lifestyle change.

Hi and welcome. I agree with what the other members. Maybe you could change your ticker to reflect smaller goal sets - 20lbs increments and that way it won't seem so discouraging or overwhelming. You have to take this one day at a time and do your best each day. If you slip up don't won't about it, just get back on the wagon the next day. You can do it. Persistence is going to take you to your goals. Good luck!

Try not looking at the entire amount and focusing on just 10 or 15 lbs at a time. Sometimes seeing that big number is intimidating. Losing just 10% of your current body weight has significant impact on your overall health. Start there, then once you reach that goal, work on the next 10% until you get down to your goal.

I had to post this so that I can see it and remember what I am doing from day to day. I feel discouraged sometimes because I look at the number of pounds I have to lose. My ticker shows my weight. I think I am more bothered by the amount I have to lose than my actual weight. I know I need to be healthy again since I also decided to quit smoking, exercise, change my eating habits and get out there to socialize with adults. I look at what other members are doing and get so jealous and then I take it out on the Wii Fit rhythm boxing, or yoga, or strength exercises.

Maybe changing my ticker to show pounds to lose might help.
