Congrats on being down 10 lbs! That is great! I'm down 3 lbs in the week that I started curves, and I'm eating WAY better than I have in a long time. The best part about it, everything I ate was tasty! I'm loving getting used to this!

Thanks Velle and Brandy! I am keeping my motivation to remove the last 50 or so lbs. I have a goal to remove 19.5 lbs by June 15, about ten % of my current body weight!

Velle- 4lbs in 7 days, amazing. Keep up the good work

Brandy- Keep your motivation high! I used to count all the time I spent reading on spark as healthy activities too. :)

Take care,

Tamm

10 lbs is great! What a nice way to start the year! I feel like I have been stuck at a plateau since Thanksgiving. I worked extra hard this week hiking and going to the gym, so hopefully my next weigh in will show some results

Hey everyone! I hope your week has been good. My first week has been good so far, it ends friday. Started the 30 day shred last nite, kicked my butt. So I'm just going to do a cardio video tonight. Plus the 1 mile walk with my dog. Anyways, good night everyone!

And I've been bugging my husband about the wii. I really want the Jenny McCarthy Shape Up. And the wii is a lot of fun, so hopefully soon!

I don't have wii fit, but I do have Wii Biggest Loser and it's pretty cool, I like it. BUt mainly I walk. Whenever I get an extra few minutes or an hour, I go for a walk, at least when the weather permits around here.

I also really like Wii fit and the SparkPeople workouts. SP recommends some really good strength training, and you can click on them to switch it up when you get bored.
I get bored so quickly it's good to have options.

Honestly, I personally would recommend going and talking to your local curves. You get to do everything at your pace, and eventually, you can get a smart tag,(which is like your own little personal trainer,) to start pushing you a little harder! Otherwise, I would look into the Wii Fit program, because you can still do things at your pace, and take breaks when you need. If neither of those sound appealing, Spark here has some great short workouts on the site that may be of interest to you! Keep it up! Spark is amazing, and it will totally help you loose the other 70 lbs you want to loose!

I just started on this website yesterday after hearing about it on the Today Show. I lost 70 pounds last year by solely eating healthier and portioning. This year, I have another 70 to go to finally get down to my IBW. I've been saying I will exercise but still haven't gotten there. I'm hoping that becoming a member of this site will motivate me to get my butt in gear and start moving!
Any advice for some exercise to ease into and get started?

Hey everyone - hope everyone's doing well! I'm sitting here watching biggest loser - wouldn't it be nice if we could all lose 20lbs per week! Ha! Welcome back to reality. I actually GAINED 2lbs this week despite healthy eating and working out. How frustrating - but it's not going to stop me!

Had a great week so far, lost 4lbs first 7 days. my next weigh-in is this friday. my eating is improving, getting my portions under control, and have been within calorie range all week. Main thing i'd like to improve is getting more fibre in...

hope everyone had a great weekend, i'm off to do my evening workout.

Im Tammara and I joined spark in 2008. I've been active the hole time but now I use the site daily again. I have removed 50 lbs so far and I have another 50 to go!! Proud of myself but times can be hard when you have removed so much so far.
I'm refocused and ready to REMOVE more pounds to reach my ultimate goal weight 140. I can do this!

Let's work together and support each other. I'm glad to have a pledge and some new team members to keep me focused. I look forward to working with you all. Stop by my sparkpage and lets work hard!!!

Welcome to all the new sparkers! DELILAS I have tried probably every site that is available and I was so excited when I found this one. Good luck to everyone!

My goals for the weekend:

1. Do W1D3 workout for C25K
2. Make all my meals at home
3. Get atleast half of my apartment packed. I am moving from San Antonio to Dallas in 3 weeks and I haven't done anything emoticon
4. Make some time to rest

Wow, that sounds like a lot. Maybe I should take out the rest. emoticon

Good morning, SP!!!

Welcome to all of the new people!! I'm so glad there are other people that are new, too!! I don't feel like I'm coming into this completely alone!! How has everyone's first few days/weeks been? I'm on day 4 and I feel like I'm actually doing some good. I'm one of those people who LOVE food, so it's so hard for me to cut out all of the bad stuff, so the path that I have been on the past few days has made me feel really good about my choices! Like yesterday, for lunch, I went to Luby's with my cousin. The chicken fried steak looked SOOO good, so I got that w/ mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Yes, the steak and potatoes (both w/ cream gravy is bad) but for dinner, I made my fiance and one of our friends hamburgers and french fries, and I had some left over tilapia and a small side salad!! So the fact that I didn't indulge in the burger and fries, was a HUGE accomplishment for me!!

Anyways!! How is everyone feeling right now with their progress? What is everyone's goals/strategies for the weekend?

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to SP and I am still learning how to get around on here. I'd like to meet new people. I'm trying to lose weight. I am in the Army and I don't meet the standards and I hate that I don't because I love the Army. A friend told me about SP and so far I like it!

Hi! I'm new here too. I'm from Singapore (not sure if you guys know where it is. Haha.)

So far I'm doing fine in SP, but there's been a little confusion over the nutrition tracker for me. Cos it seems like I can't find the food I had in Singapore in the SP food list.

Or am I just eating the wrong stuff?

Great to know everyone here! Good day!

I'm on day three here =] Snowed in at the moment, bad timing on my part as I sold my treadmill to fund my gym membership. I'm using Planet Fitness, only 10 dollars a month, selling the treadmill gave me enough for both me and DH to get a years membership.

I'm sincerely stoked about this. I've tried so many websites with trackers that barely have anything in them, so I felt more like a data-entry clerk than a girl trying to figure out her calorie needs. Everything required using 5 different sites to bring the information together, and finally...its on site and its free.

And you guys are super...I've been lurking around this teams forums after joining the 8 week challenge yesterday, finally thought I'd say hi and gush like a school girl.

*Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there. *

My current goal is 190 by November 27th!

I also have never been this big unless you count when I was pregnant but I guess you really can't count that can you. If you have ever watched the Biggest Loser (which is one of my favorites) have you ever thought to yourself when they are weighted in and they are the same weight as you "Is that what I look like?"

I've come to terms with it and now I'm focused on living a healthy life for my son. He is still young enough now that I can make some lifestyle changes and they can follow him as he gets older.

My biggest wake up call has been my health. I think if I get my life in check there is still time to fix what I have messed up.

I will eat to live and not live to eat.

RIAROX06 I know how you feel. I've always been a little on the large side but I've never weighed this much. It's embarrassing and it's a little depressing, but I know that I can break that cycle and get motivated. I'm sure you can too.

This group seems like a very good place to find that support you are looking for.

I work in Sugar Land and live about 20 minutes southeast of there (lol basically we are on the exact oposite sides from each other! lol). Ya... the snow was a great novelty... but I am really tired of the cold! lol guess I shouldn't complain... its better than 114 in the summer!

What part of Houston do you live in?!? I work in the Northwest area, but live in Waller, a small town about 30-45 minutes west!! And you are right...this is odd for us!! Especially when we got snow last month!!

COURTWALKS320 - That is definitely a good work out! Anything to get you moving! Here at Spark they even consider playing with the kids a work out! emoticon

So the weather here in the Houston area is GROSS! It is supposed to get in the teens today! I know, you people up north are saying "Aw, thats nothing!", but for us Texans this is FREAKING COLD!!! emoticon Normally our winters have a low of about 30 at the most, and even that only lasts like 2 days! My Fibromyalgia is really acting up. I think that if I do anything today it will be stretching.

Jessicalewis, when it comes to workouts and such I always suggest people talk to their doctor or a trainer about a workout that is right for you and what you want to do. This is a good idea because A) it can help prevent injury and B) professionals know better the kind of workouts that will help you achieve your goals. Stick to the workouts prescribed as closely as possible for these reasons as well. Obviously sometimes the place you work out does not have the exact equipment needed to perform a particular exercise, but usually there is something comparable.

οΏ½How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it.οΏ½

Congrats on the engagements, as well, MISSSTAR & FLUTESTARK!!!

MISSTAR-I haven't tried the electronic cigs, yet!! That sounds very interesting!! I have been trying to wean myself off by allowing myself 3 a day, then 2 a day, then 1, then, eventually, none!! That's what I am hoping for at least!!

VELLE_G- Thank you very much!! I am very excited to start the planning process and building up to a start a HEALTHY and SMOKE FREE life with Josh (my fiancι)!!

STEPHANIEMD- I totally understand about not wanting to go to the gym!! I HATE gyms!! But then again, I am one of those people who just can't spend the money on a membership plus drive to one and be surrounded by bunches of skinny people. Not my thing!! All of the things I do are around my house. I go walking/jogging (change of scenery helps, too), I have a really tall pantry, So I will take the items from the top 3-4 shelves off, one by one and set them on the floor, then put them back up there (squats, with light weight), I also move my furniture around my house about 2 times a week, I don't know if that really does anything, but I sweat my butt off and the next morning, I feel like I had a major free weight session!! What ever you decide to do to keep you going, I know you will do awesome at it!!

CARMELLA_C- Congrats on sticking to SP!! I hope I can have a story to share like that one day!! If you have stuck to it this long and are still feeling good about yourself and your results, I know you will be able to keep it going!!

Hello everyone! My name is Stephanie, I am 24 years old. I am from good ol' Buffalo, NY! I joined this looking for some support and guidance as I try to take off the extra 100lbs I have had since I was probably 12 years old. I guess my main issues are motivation and my eating. I hardly feel like going to the gym, so I don't, but when I do go I work really hard and could go for hours! I need to be more consistent. With food.. I eat when I am hungry, whatever I want, it's not all bad, but I eat a lot, and all day long. I guess I am just ready for that real push to make that change.

Hello everyone

I'm new to the team, but not to sp. I've been having weight problems for the last couple of years now and my major issue is consistency. That is my resolution this year, to be more consistent with healthy choices and exercise.

Congrats to all the ladies here that are soon to be married :)
