Hello, I'm Abby, I'm 24 years old, I have a theatre and comparative literature degree and I'm currently babysitting and working on starting my own theatre company. I'm extremely passionate about the arts and I dream to one day have my own theatre education program in addition to a theatre company! I live with my wonderful boyfriend and our two kittens in a pretty awesome apartment. Life is pretty great right now EXCEPT my physical fitness and weight.

I've struggled with weight issues for a few years now, and body image issues my whole life. Through my high school years my weight was very consistent, falling in-between 132-136 lb, about a size 8 in clothing, with a curvy silloutte (36D) and mostly flat tummy, which was a perfectly healthy and attractive way to be! I also NEVER worked out and was incredibly lazy.

Unfortunately, I never appreciated my great figure as a teen, and thought I was horribly fat and longed get rid of my "wide" hips and "huge" bust and be super skinny. I often wore baggy sweatshirts to hide what I didn't realize at the time was a bangin' body. Oh the folly of youth!
Turns out I had no idea how blessed I was at the time, and I often spend hours browsing through old photos and kicking myself for not realizing how beautiful I used to be!

I studied abroad in England in 2006 for a year. The combination of being responsible for feeding myself on my own and going off a regime of ADHD medication that I had been on since 2nd grade (and probably never needed to begin with) for the first time in my life, cause me to balloon up to about 190 lbs over just one year.

I felt horrible about myself, worse then I ever did in high school and I became determined to loose the weight when I came back to the US for college. I spent my 4 years in college yo-yoing a bit but slowly making my way back DOWN the scale. I ate much better for the most part and started going to the on campus gym. I even had a personal trainer for a short period of months. When I gradated college I weighed about 155lbs. Not quite back to my old high school weight but a great accomplishment. I was starting to feel comfortable in my own skin, realizing for the first time in my life that, even at 155lbs, my curves were a blessing not a curse.

That unfortunately all changed when I moved to Pittsburgh in 2010 after college. I was very poor and partied way to hard for about a year and half. No gym, no healthy eating. I finally had a wake up call when I weighed myself last February and realized I was right back at 190lbs again, a weight I had sworn to never see on my scale again! I spent the next few months feeling pretty sorry for myself, I put and abrupt stop to the partying, lost about 10lbs by half-heartedly dieting and exercising. I joined Sparkpeople back then with the intention of using it everyday, but I didn't and found it hard to stay motivated and on track with my weight loss. I haven't had a picture taken that I liked of myself in over two years, and I feel self-conscious about how I look ALL THE TIME. It's worse then it ever was before.

This October I decided it was time to get serious not only about my weight but about a real lifestyle change to something healthier for the long term! I've been going to a 24-hour gym about 3 times a week, I walk a mile to work most days and last week I started The Slow- Carb Diet, which has already made my energy level much higher and I'm starting to feel great. The diet is more of a lifestyle change than a diet and I could potentially see it working for me in the long term!

One of my best friends is getting married in July, and I'm a bridesmaid. I've decided that it's my goal to be back to a Size 8 again by then, so that I can proudly frame the pictures from the wedding and not look at them in disgust.

I would really like someone who can by my buddy and help keep me motivated! I'd like to have someone I can chat with and check in with on a daily basis that has similar goals. Together I know we can do it! Anyone interested?

Oh P.S. I'm also a HUGE nerd. In case you are too, here is a list of things I get super nerdy about:

Hi! My name is MerRhea I'm 28 (going on 29 here in a month) and desperately want to get to a better place, both mentally and physically. I work in IT so most of my day is sitting at a desk. I recently joined a gym and have been working out there 3x a week and going to a yoga studio 4 days a week. My goal is to lose 40 lbs by February. My son's birthday is Feb 17th. He is going to be 4 and every year I dread being in photos. I hate that there is this record out there of how out of shape I let myself get. Ok so enough of the sob story. Hey all

Hi Amanda,

I too am looking for a work out buddy. I'm in a similar situation where I too am engaged and want to look the best for my wedding. I've lost 50 pounds over the last few years but I've kinda hit a plateau, I have 30 more to go and I need someone who I can relate to to help push me and keep me on track :) Let me know what you think, I'm very excited to start on the next leg of my weight loss!

I am new to spark, and am also looking for a buddy. I have 2 kids, and am having some trouble losing the baby weight. I would like to have more, but want to be healthy first. I tend to do really well for a while, then something happens...like I'll get sick or busy with school, I'll fall off for 1 meal which always turns into a week and then I have a really hard time getting back on track.
I hope we can keep in touch, motivate each other and ultimately achieve our goals!

Hi!

My name is Amanda, and I am looking for a weight loss buddy! I am 25 years old and live in an urban area. I recently got engaged to the love of my life, and I realized I would not be happy with myself if I look like i do right now on my wedding day. My fiance is super supportive, but I need someone outside my friends and family who is unbiased and will tell things to me straight. I have been doing a tiny bit better job at eating healthy, but it is definitely not enough to make a huge difference. Hello everyone. My name is Jackie, I'm 27 and looking for a weight loss buddy. I'm married and work in the medical field. I love traveling and music. I went to school for graphic design and still do some of that as well as acrylic painintg on the side. I am in the same boat! I didn't gain my weight during my pregnancy...but I'm 50 pounds over weight, would like to lose 30-40 and have a one year old son. Hey everyone!
I'm looking for a weight loss buddy too! I am on a lot of medications which makes it harder to lose weight, but I keep trying because I know it is possible...I could just use some encouragement :) I am in my late twenties and have 60 lbs I'd like to lose, preferably by next summer! I really have a hard time in the winter exercising because I just want to hibernate & eat and then start to get depressed.:S Haven't exercised for like 3 weeks now, and FINALLY got myself moving today for 45 min power walk. It felt great! I'd love to have someone to cheer on & encourage and do the same for me. Let me kno if you'd like to join me in the losing weight to feel super great quest! :)

Hi, I'm Marissa :) I'm 22, single mommy of a 2 year old and am lazily desperate to lose 50 lbs. I need constant motivation to do this because I always give up. Right now, I don't have insane goals. I don't go to the gym, or hike, or run marathons, or eat fruits and vegetables. All that is great and and something to achieve someday, but I want to start off small. HI Maria seems we have about the same goal. I'm also 25 and want to loss 25-30 pounds. I definitely need motivation food wise, I used to exercise (dance) and eat healthy (gluten free 70ish percent of the time) about two and a half years ago, but some life circumstances came up brought me back to Texas with my family and I lost my whole fitness groove and eating since I was in their space. I'm back to my own now so I'm looking forward to starting to cook and exercise more :-) . Looking forward to chatting :-)

Hey GatorGal, as a recent grad from FSU I think we can cross the divide and act as accountability friends! I can attest firsthand that freshman year can add the pounds...I wasn't expecting to gain 25lbs up to 170. So, I am currently at 165 and now that I am temporarily out of school (before grad school) and am looking to lose 25 (permanently). I know what your is like (at least I do if you are doing medicine, business, or law). So good for you on your commitment! I read that you are vegetarian and I think that's fantastic :) I'm not vegetarian, but most of my meals are meatless, and I think we could bounce some cool recipes around! :)

Hi Everyone!!! My name is Billie, I am 27 and a married mom of two sweet little boys. I am a full time student looking to earn my BA in Early Education. Classes are going great but all the sitting for homework is taking it's toll on my body! I am starting my weight loss adventure at 170 looking to be around 135 by next spring. I know I can do it, I was just there 2 years ago when I had started at 165 and got down to 137. It's maintaining that challenges me.
I love to workout (walking my loop & zumba & kickboxing) and I love healthy food so those are my ups but my downs are staying on track on weekends (eating the right stuff and right amounts) as well as getting my sweat on.
I'm looking for people like myself that will be motivational buddies to keep me on my toes here on Sparkpeople!!!! If you can relate to my story.... add me!!!!

I need a buddy! I'm fairly consistent with working out and am a part of a great support group for that aspect but I HAVE to start focusing on my nutrition! I'm not planning on following any particular diet, I just want to eat healthier and stay within my calorie goal every day. I'm a junk food junkie and a late night snacker...both very bad things : ) I need someone who wants to stay accountable for what we're eating on a consistent basis. My immediate goal is to lose 20 pounds but my "ideal weight" is 35 pounds away. Anyone wanna buddy up?

I am a 25 yr old Grad student from Gainesville, Fl looking to loose around 35- 40 lbs, hopefully by next summer. This is my first time on a community like this and I am really looking forward to it! emoticon
I am vegetarian and cook my meals most of the times. I would love to not only loose weight but finally get that toned look that is so youthful. I have been on the heavier side since puberty. I will be visiting my family this december and would like to loose some portion of the weight by then. My family has always been on my case about my weight and are always judging my actions.
I was hesitant and uninspired in the beginning but recently I have come to love working out and trying new sports and activities. I want to be able to continue to do so for a long time. I want to take part in a 5K by next summer and a half marathon by next fall.
I do tend to however veer off my goals and lack motivation in cycles. I would like to find some new friends to keep me motivated all along and also to give some accountability!

Just to let you know its actually really common for people to gain weight after college cause your settling into the rest of your life! *BUT WE STILL HAVE TO BE HEALTHY!!!!*

I'm so there with you on feeling too embarrassed to be seen on a beach w/ friends! I love the ocean and the waves, and yet I haven't gone swimming at a beach like play for years cause I'm just too self conscious, and want to hide inside a sweatshirt instead of showing off my skin.

My Goals:

Hi! Have you found a weight loss buddy yet? I'm 21 and weigh 158 lbs at the moment. I'm going abroad for a semester next year and by then I really want to look good in bikinis and dresses (: 120-130 lbs would be great for that. Having a weight loss buddy would be awesome! I think it's so much easier when you can support each other.

Hello! I'm 24 and I weight 157 lbs and am looking to be in the 130-135 range by the end of this year. I've been working out since April 2012 and have lost 20+ pounds. Right now I'm living in Ecuador and would really love to have an online weightloss buddy to share this experience and keep each other motivated. I try to eat healthy and work out 5 days a week. I love dancing and I'm trying to get into running and yoga. I want to lose weight because I wanna feel and look good in bikinis and skinny jeans and those tiny little dresses that you need a killer body to wear:)

hey yall! i currently do not have a weight loss buddy on here to be honest im 23 recently graduated college and am on my weightloss journey. I am fully dedicated to my program and have unfortunatly had a difficult time find people who share my life style i live in central north part of texas and hope to chat with some of you great people soon :)

HI, I'm 22, but turning 23 in exactly 1 week. I'm looking to lose 34 lbs, I've lost 18 already. I started at 172 and currently at 154 and am looking to get down to 120lbs by February 2013. I live in Oregon about an hour out of Medford, and I love it here. One of the biggest reasons I want to lose weight is because I'm very unhappy with how fat I am. I love wearing clothes, and a lot of the ones I love don't look good on me because it shows the fat. I also want to be fit and toned for the first time in my life. I'm getting married May 31st 2014, and I want to look sexy and fit by then, and I know that's more than acheivable! :)

Hey! My name is Rachelle, I'm looking for a buddy too. I am 27 as well and also looking to incorporate raw foods. I did 100% raw for a month awhile back and loved it. And been wanting to off and on for awhile and just haven't gotten into it yet. I'm thinking I will go about it more gradually (so hopefully it will stick). I would love to share recipes and keep each other motivated. Let me know what you think.

Hi guys! I am Vianne, 22years old weighing 160.6 lbs from the Philippines, and I'm lookin for a sparkbuddy. emoticon I just joined this site around... 2 hours ago and I feel that I'm in the right place to REALLY start living a healthy lifestyle.

I need to lose around 40 lbs by March 2013 in time for the summer. This year, the reason I wasn't able to join my friends in the beach was NOT because I was too busy with work but it is actually because I was too embarrassed. I am too shy to show my old college buddies how much I gained weight only after 2 years of graduating (I was only 120lbs back in college). I want to at least regain my old weight back and to avoid future ailments and diseases that usually comes with overweight people. Hope you guys can help me as much as I hope I can help other people too emoticon

I am also looking for a SparkBuddie. I need motivation and accountability so that I can finally change my life style of eating. I am looking to lose 35lbs before my 28th birthday in June, 2013. I also want to run a 5k in April/May. My goal is of eating a 75% raw vegan diet. I have spent most of my 20's overweight and I do not want to continue into my 30's. This also has to be the last time I set a goal and not go through with it. Looking forward to making new buddies.
