Registration opened for this year's Sea Swim in December. I am waiting until Pay Day to sign up and then I can get back into the water. I am giving up on the pool and just sticking to the beach.

Just started back exercising and that should help make me stronger for swimming.

We got the gym deal woohoo. As for the beach I live in the Cayman Islands so lots of nice beaches with clear water.

Good luck with the gym deal SILVERSPARROW04. The last place I lived, I had access to a pool and enjoyed swimming for exercise. I've only swam in the ocean once (I live in an area that isn't near any oceans) but it was fun. How did you begin swimming in the ocean? Is it common where you are from?

You go SAESAND! You got this. I could understand the dark days messing with your schedule, if it's just rainy/cloudy for a few days I get down I couldn't imagine dealing with MONTHS of limited sunshine. It's cooler here now so waters are colder now which is not making me want to go in the sea. I tried signing up for a gym but it was a special dependant on at least 20 people signing up so I'm waiting to hear back if we got the deal. I hope we did!

I am casually training for a 5K. I did really well the first 6 weeks of training, but I've taken a couple of weeks off as my work schedule has interrupted me. It is really hard to find time to run outside now that it is dark when I arrive to work and when I leave. I need to try to get back on top of training.

I have keep up my three days a week of cross training though!

Ok I need to get out of my no-exercising funk. So I'm going to do an 800m sea swim September 10 - 1 month away.

I didn't do the stroke and stride emoticon

Did the sea swim last month. Didn't need to stand at all during it, just float on my back to catch my breath :).

Early August there is an event called Stroke and Stride and it's 3 days over 3 weeks on a Wednesday. It's swimming and running.

So Day 1 - 400m swim + 2 mile run
Day 2 - 600m swim + 2 mile run
Day 3 - 800m swim + 2 mile run

You can choose to do 1 day or all 3. I'll be travelling during the week of the last one so I can only do the first two weeks. I am confident I can do the swims but the runs have me worried since my ankle and shins always give me trouble if I run for more than 5 minutes but I am working on it.

Is anyone on here training for anything? A 5K? Marathon, Triathlon, etc?

I signed up for a 1 mile sea swim happening in June. I did it for the first time last year and I hope to shave off a few minutes this year.

My training plan so far is strength building - core, arms and legs.
Going for walks a few times a week and swimming at least once a week.
This week I'm going to create a schedule and make it more concrete.
