Yesterday I did 50 minutes on the ski machine and an hour of ST. Today is looking like a good biking day, so I'm hoping for a long ride.

Hi All!
Sorry I have been missing in action. I have been signing on my other team and not this one silly me. Thank you everyone for showing up. I have been busy this week at Maggie's riding my bike 12 miles every day to get there and back. Yesterday I made it to the gym and did two spin classes in my new spin shoes a pilates class, 10 minutes on the stairmaster and 22 minutes on the elliiptical and rode my bike 10 miles. Today I was at Maggie's again rode my bike 12 miles , met my literacy student at the library this evening and walked to and from the library 2 miles .
I have a very good Omron pedometer I got several years ago it was a bit pricey but it never wears out you just keep putting a new battery in it and it doesn't get weird with the jiggles etc. came with soft wear and such I think I have had it 4 years at least. I need a new battery for it. I got it online through Amazon.com with a gift certificate for my birthday 4 years ago with my first exercise heart monitor .
Big hugs to you all on your pounds down and your exercise!
I am proud of you all!
pj

Tecia, I don't have any recent experience with pedometers. Have you tried googling Pedometer Reviews? Here's one example:

http://walking.about.com/od/prpedometer/
tp/rca2011-pedometer.htm

Looks like you can get a decent pedometer for around $20.

Me, I'm taking it easy for a few days so I can get over this cold. To encourage myself *not* to exercise, I washed my yoga mat and hung it outside--it takes a couple of days to dry. Keep up the good work ladies, and I'll see you all soon.

Work is killing me this week. Have not done much activity. I don't think this week is going so well for me. I hop I can get through tomorrow and get a little exercise in.

One day at a time. One meal at a time. One 10 minute walk at a time. I can do this. I am worth it.

I have been in pain for about 3 days, my knees have been very angry with me. Last night before going to bed I put on Icy Hot patches. I was walking the dog this morning & realized that my knees weren't hurting!!!! Yeah!!!! I have gotten a little pain back with moveing around today, but no more than usual & nothing like it has been. So today I take it easier & not do more than needed & tomorrow I get back in the pool. I can do this!!!! I refuse to give up!

Have a great day everyone!!

Almost forgot to ask a question.

Has anyone found a reasonably priced pedometer that is accurate? I have tried several & can't find one I can afford that is adjustable & won't count "bounces & jiggles" as steps. I had one several years ago that was adjustable & I really liked it but I haven't seen one like it in a while.

Thanks

Have a wonderful day emoticon

Trying to get back on speaking terms with my knees today. I am swimming 3 days a week right now & I use swim fins. Sure makes a difference & I can feel it in my thighs too. But I was foolish enough sunday to be on my hands & knees on the bedroom floor, trying to pull stuff out from under the bed (never did find what I was looking for). So today is going to be a "rest" day for me, just getting the everyday movement in.

Hi everyone. I did 10 minutes yoga and 6 minutes upper arm. ready to start over this week. Last week I did very little activity and cheated a little on the meal plan so I only lost 0.5 lbs but, that brings my total to 6 lbs lost. YEAH!!!!!

My bike was finished and available to pick up at the shop, which is only a mile and a half away. And it was a sunny day. So instead of driving down and putting it in my car, I walked down and biked back. Then I also did my core ST workout.

My calves are sore from the riding, short as it was! Glad I did it early, though, because it got nasty and snowy this afternoon!

Hi everyone. I did 10 minutes of a home workout video today. It's not much I know, but it's better than nothing. I'm really looking forward to my next pay cheque so that I can get back to doing the Aqua Fit class at the local pool. It's much easier on my knees, and I get a really good 50 min cardio workout plus toning. I hope everyone else is having a good day!

Cheers,
Jennifer

Hi everyone! You’ve all been busy. Good for you!
NRampe, that is funny.
Catlady, the others are right. Try everything. Start small. If you feel comfortable trying different things on the treadmill, go for variation (and using different muscles) by having the speed on low (2.5 mph) and trying different foot positions, e.g., toes in, toes out, walk on outside of foot, tiptoes, walk on heels. Then turn the speed down to 1.5 or 2 mph and walk sideways, then walk backwards (careful!). Variety will keep you from being bored without wearing yourself out. Then, if your treadmill has incline, do incline for a minute or two. Mix it up by doing a few minutes of treadmill and then getting on the exercise bike for a couple of minutes. Wow, look at that, you already did 10 minutes and they just flew by!
PJ—long time no hear from. I hope everything is okay.

Yesterday I had a bit of flu or cold so I took the day off. Today I felt a bit better and did 35 minutes of T-Tapp.

Pat, it's so funny how different people's experiences are! You weren't motivated by working out at home, but if I had to leave home and go to a gym to work out, I'd never get around to it! I guess the lesson is, TRY EVERYTHING. If one method of working out doesn't motivate you, another might. Don't give up!

Catlady, 5 minutes ARE worth it. Because if you don't do 5 minutes, you'll never build up the stamina to do 10 minutes, then 20 minutes. Believe me, I didn't start out with the kinds of workouts I do now.

As for motivation, this morning I totally didn't want to do it. I almost talked myself out of it. Then I told myself "just 10 minutes." That turned into a complete workout, but it wasn't easy.

It's definitely work. And there are definitely days when I want to quit. But I don't like the results of quitting!

CATLADYX8 - I had a hard time staying motivated when I was exercising at home. I had to join a gym and make some friends that were there for the same reasons. That helped me a lot I actually go to the gym 4-5 days a week.

I suggest an exercise buddy this way you have someone you can talk to and make it a little easier. Good luck.

I am a work in progress :)

Good job, GRANDMACASERTA2! That's great mileage.

Upper body ST, 30 minutes of ski machine, and 1 minute of fast rope jumping. I am starting very slowly on the rope work because my legs are very "What are you doing?!!!" But it's really good vigorous training, so I'm hoping to work up to 10 minutes by the end of February, three times a week for that "body shock" effect.

Hi everyone. Had a very busy week. My family has been making my birthday very special this week so I have checking in only twice and exercised only 3 times this week. However, I have been following my meal plan. A blessing in disguise happened last night. My husband was bringing out my birthday cake and tripped over one of the dogs and dropped it. I probable would have had 2-3 big pieces and my 3 teenagers would have finished it off (none of us need the calories) We all laughed as our dogs jockeyed for position to devour the cake. It has been a long time since I could pass up dessert without longing much less laugh over it.

One day at a time. One meal at a time. One 10 minute walk at a time. I can do this. I am worth it.

did my upper body ST and 30 minutes on the ski machine, then to shake things up a bit I grabbed the jump rope. I haven't jumped in years, so just did 60 jumps, a break, and then 60 more. I'd eventually like to work up--it's a boost of intensity after aerobics and I'm hoping it will increase my stamina.

Laurie, isn't it amazing how the exercise that seems too overwhelming to do turns out to be the thing that makes our day better? And yet we have to relearn the lesson almost daily! Congrats on getting it done.

Great Job to all on what you did today. Let keep up the good work. Did some Chair workout today also did the Elliptical 45 min. For the first time I tried Walk away the pounds. I also did the Wii.
