Yeah, it helps to think about that disappointed feeling (like, "I spent my last $30 on junk food at the convenience store and ate it all and it didn't even taste good"), or that FAT feeling that comes when we look in the mirror. I have bread in the freezer for visitors. Sometimes I lie in bed thinking about eating some of it, but I just think about what a bad idea that is and wait until the feeling goes away. I used to be addicted to bread, but now it just tastes like wallpaper paste to me. Ugh!
Good luck to all those who are starting over or struggling to stay on track.

Amberzade, I always find movie popcorn a huge temptation, but then I feel sick to my stomach afterward. I now remind myself of that awful feeling and manage to walk past the concession stand. It's hard, but my stomach and my pocketbook are both happier that I did!

Did 40 minutes of strength training today. Busy day, so glad I got that in.

Today is my last day of vacation. I am going to the movies with a friend this afternoon. I have to exercise before I go. Wish my luck in not eating candy. Other than that, the day is all mine and I can do whatever I want with it.

I have to say being a teacher and working long hours it is very difficult to find time to work out everyday. I have made it my goal to work out each day at least 10 minutes and I am going to begin working much harder this week. I told myself that week one was just getting into the groove and from then on it is going to be full speed ahead because i am so ready to make this change.

NRAMPE, I too need to get back on track. Day before last, I did 10min. on the treadmill. Yesterday, I went out to lunch, having an open face turkey sandwich. I did, however, not have stuffing as part of it. The only 'excercise' that I did, was shopping for about 30min. I know that I was still moving, but UGH! Does anyone have suggestions for getting back on track with my eating? Exercise I can usually handle, food, not so much. I am going to see what the Spark Menu has to offer... emoticon

Hi exercisers!
Hooray for all those who can do multiple minutes on the elliptical! I do 1.5 minutes at a time and get my heartrate up to 100% of my max. I could probably do 2.5 minutes if I pushed myself, but I don’t want to explode!

Congratulations to those who managed to do something even when life got in the way.

NRAMPE, maybe it’s not such a good idea to do anything repetitious for 10 minutes at a time, at least until you get to know how different exercises affect you. Better to get "slight discomfort" and take it as a warning to go easy, than to go full speed ahead and really hurt yourself. I know we want to see fast results, but maybe a variety of exercises is better than lots of reps. I know I always switch things around. For example, when I’m at the gym I do maybe 5 minutes on the treadmill (doing different kinds of footwork—toes in, toes out, tiptoes, walking backwards, etc.), then a few minutes on the rower (alternating overhand, underhand, easy, hard, etc.), and my 1.5 minutes on the elliptical. Then I do it all over again. If you’re going to do 10 minutes of stairs, maybe do a few minutes of that and then an alternative move like fake jumping jacks (step side to side while raising arms overhead)—something that uses different muscles. Also, I suggest that you learn a stretch routine (or get a video) and do your stretches regularly after every workout. It really helps keep those post-exercise aches and pains away.

lower body stretch:

ess_articles.asp?id=1027

Today I did about 75 minutes of T-Tapp. I feel great!
Thanks everyone,
Laurie

Well I worked very late yesterday and did not have time for any exercise. It was so late by time I left the office I got pizza for dinner. And I ate 3 slices. I know I could shoot myself.

Then to day I went up and down my stairs for 10 minutes and I pulled something in my back. At least I did well with my meal plan. Maybe I should do week 2 over again. Anyone have any suggestions for me to get back on track?

One day at a time. One meal at a time. One 10 minute walk at a time. I can do this. I am worth it.

Hi everyone!
I rode my bike to maggie's yesterday so 12 miles ( 1 hour ) on the bike, I am cold though it is warming up here, found out my tests at the doctor's last week came back normal , no other infections but got a referral for a gyn specialist since I have been having so many infections since I had the hysterectomy and mesh put in with the pelvic floor repair in 2008. I may be going out tonight with Sue, Maggie's mom tonight to celebrate her birthday, tomorrow morning I am up and out early to Ft. Pierce to volunteer for a 5k race .
Hi Jean welcome to the team wtg on the exercise!
Enjoy your day everyone!

Hey all! New to this board though I've been on SP for quite some time now. A little about me: I'm Jean, I'm almost 41, live in Jersey with my hubby & five kids. Week one of back on track is going well. I found a good workout I like on MagRack on my Verizon on demand. It's Kick Cardio, kickboxing. I'm doing the whole thing (23min) but not quite as intensely as she is, it helps that there's a another person doing the modified workout as well. Looking forward to getting some great tips and motivation here!

Newbie here! I'm doing the January Jumpstart Challenge, but I've been sleeping badly (could have something to do with the 2-year-old that shows up at 4am) so I missed a few days. So last night I made up for it a little by doing 2 days worth of videos while watching TV.

It doesn't matter how slow you go, as long as you're moving.

I got a little bit more sleep tonight although it seems like I'm up every two hours, like an older person. LOL

Yesterday I did cardio for a 30 minutes instead of 20 and that went really well. I also did the sparkpeople strength training. I plan to do the same today.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day/!!

Went back to the gym after 7 weeks of healing my back injury! I walked there, as usual, in a very warm snow that wasn't sticking, got on the treadmill looking up at the window 10 min later. The snow had started piling up!! I did my 8 min. cool down and headed home. The disadvantages of walking to the gym.....So I did .56 mile in that 18 minutes. Lots of cardio at home to be done. While I am puting Christmas things away, cleaning off my desk and chest, and doing some card prep. Birhday, Congrats and Thinking of you cards always keep me busy. After all..I make them!

Had to be at court this morning, and was desperate for sleep, so didn't manage to work out. I am still not really good yet - driving to and from the courthouse completely took everything out of me. So we will see if I get in a workout today....

Hi !!!! emoticon and Good Morning.

DH & I did just over 3 miles walking yesterday, and I even managed to do some cleaning afterwards. The rest of the week is smaller walks and figuring out the strength training part of our program. I am leery of the Elliptical but will try it any ways & see what happens. A few weeks ago I started running on it and, as I found out, the tension was too low and I thrashed my hip. Big time. Found some exercises for that too......

Aside from that, its piano practice and painting for me today. I might clean something. Maybe.

Hi all!
I am feeling better today, not normal but better. I got up at 6:30 , was at the gym by 8:15 did my yoga class then went to pilates and then did 30 minutes on the precore elliptical crossramp at 20 and 10 resistance on 10 for both. rode my bike 5 miles to and from the gym. Drinking my green shake for the day found organic dandelion greens and parsley , so have that in today's shake along with 1/3 of a banana, and 2 cups of spinach and 1/2 a grapefruit and some unsweetened cranberry juice, a tablespoon of chia seeds and 3 tbsp of my protein powder. Will see shortly if it is in the ' zone' .

Slept terribly, and woke up coming down sick. But while I was still feeling a little okay got in an upper body strength workout (at lower weights because it's been a while and because I wasn't feeling strong) and half an hour on the treadmill. I think I'm going to start alternating between the Nordictrack and the treadmill, because while I am working harder on the Nordictrack (higher heartrate), I can definitely feel that I'm using different muscles on the treadmill. So alternating will give me better whole body workout through the course of a week.

Happy New Year Ladies!

Over the next week, DH & I have to sort out a training program to have us walk a 1/2 marathon. We need to do strength training as well as challenging cardio our Dr. says, so I guess that means the Elliptical as well as that stupid Bowflex. Don't you just hang the laundry on those things? We did a 10 k last summer. OMG! fun and challenging!!!!!! So we both thought that we would up the ante.....It might take us 6 months, but we figure to really do it. So excited. The dog will be pretty pumped too, I'm sure.

Hurray for 2012!!!! I wonder how far we will all get this year with fitness goals.

Happy New Year to everyone on our team!! I've been going it on my own for awhile and am doing pretty good. I'm down 65 lbs total now and have managed to keep it off thru the holidays, give or take 2 lbs. I haven't been able to go workout with the family home, but I'll be back on track this week.

Continue to take care of yourself PJoy. We need you! Thank you for being such a great leader!!

Happy New Year !
Hi Everyone!
I am feeling a bit better, still have a mega headache, but got up had a green shake, and did my laundry and showered and dressed today so that is a move in the right direction. I am down the 6 pounds of fluid I put on last week. Parsley is a great herb for taking off fluid, I put a cup of it in my shake yesterday and 4 pounds came off over night! YAY!

Sandy so good to see you back ! Big hugs!

Hi Sexy good to see you, I don't know if I have met you. I am PJ the acting leader of the team. Welcome.
I got a blender for Christmas and I am using it a lot for my green shakes it helps me get in my fruit and veggies when I don't feel like eating , get in herbs as well for healing.
