Welcome to Corpus Spark Team, you sound like a very interesting person. I have to admit I pop in and out of here and need to be more committed to my health goals. But when I see your name I will definitely say hello. Are you studying locally or online with your health counseling? I am getting over a hip injury and hope to be back to walking 5ks in the future. I am a Christian, and often say encouraging words through my faith, or share inspiring stories for blessings, but it is imparted not to be "religious" just to share the love and blessings I've received. I think that's the attitude of most folks here who have religious roots. Enjoy your health journey, best of luck to you and looking forward to seeing more of your posts!

I moved here to Corpus Christi early this year. I'm ready to start getting fit again and love to wakl.

I'm going to start my program gradually so I don't get overwhelmed but walking is something I really enjoy.

About me: I am a young, healthy 69 year old woman. Have joined the South Texas Master Naturalist program here. I'm also studying to be a natural health counselor and so teach people how to cook and get healthier. Of course, I expect to get even healthier myself! Fitness, to me, is part of natural health.

I got a leg injury last year but it is now good enough to where I can walk an hour with no pain. if it is not really rough terrain. A chiropractor will get me completely well not too long from now.

I'm wondering what kind of walks you go on with the volksmarching. I might be interested if there are some fun walks. I started and led a hiking group in Indiana a few years ago. That was really fun.

I am wondering what sorts of walks have been done so far.

Also, I am a spiritual person, but didn't want to join a religious group. I see a lot of religious verbage. Is this a religious group as well as a fitness group?

What is a Volksmarch you may ask?

A Volksmarch is a non-competitive six mile (10 k) walk. It's not a pledge walk. Its a fun activity you do with a club, your family, your pet, or all by yourself. Most people take 2 hours to do our 10K trails. Many events now have a shorter 5K trail that is perfect for beginners and should take only an hour to complete. Some people like to run or jog, others enjoy a leisurely pace and stop to see the sights, picnic, or even shop! You go at YOUR own pace, and you are always a winner at the end. Visit us online at www.ava.org and learn how you can start collecting a stamp in your own event books.

There are year round events in Corpus, Port Aransas, Alice, Refugio, and Victoria. If you like to walk for your fitness minutes please check out Volksmarching in your area. While there is a club in Corpus it is mainly inactive. It needs new blood and lots of enthusiasm to get it back on it's feet. Please come learn what the Sparkling City Strollers is all about.

Being a Christian isn't about religion. It's about a relationship with the One who made us. I'm so thankful to be one of His.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

Do not ask the Lord to guide your footstep, unless you are willing to move your feet.

God grant me the serenity to accept those I cannot change, to change the one I can,
and the wisdom to know its me.
