Hi, I'm Michelle. This team looks to be a great one for encouraging a gal back to the weight off that she had off earlier this year. Yay for SP support!

Just do it!

Hi, I'm new to the team! I'm a healthy 20 year old just looking to push myself to lower my weight in a healthy way. This seems like a good place to keep the flame inside me ignited via motivation and positivity.

What got me motivated today is knowing how hard I've worked to get myself to run for 60+ min a day on a treadmill and how I don't want my body to lose this ability.

Hello!

I'm newbie! I very recently realized that my "glass half empty" view of life is causing me a lot of negativity and I need to figure out how to get out of this personality! The day after I realized that my negativity was causing me to be no fun anymore I happened to sign up for SP just to see what it was all about for my mom and low and behold... I found all of this - this is GREAT! So I am joining not so much as a weight loss tool, but as a Happier & Healtheir Mind, Body and Spirit!!!! I want to be more positive and am excited to start working on this daunting endeavor!

Oh and P.S. you would never know I am negative if talking to me, haha. And I have a positive view for others, I just don't really have much positive for myself..... so here I am throwing myself into figuring out how to like myself and realize just how successful I really am.

So Hello to all and I'm excited to be here!!!!!

In Health!
-Michelle

Hi Everyone!

I just joined this team and am looking forward to being a member. With "motivation and positive attitude" as its purpose, I knew immediately that this team was one I would join. I believe that maintaining a positive attitude is a very important part of my healthy lifestyle, and always do my best to look at the bright side and have a "sunny" outlook.

Thank you to the team for my "Fresh Veggies" SparkGoodie (mmm-mmm good!). Hope to get to know you all better as I begin participating in discussions and challenges.

Hi I'm Amy! I'm new to this team. I've been Sparking religiously since Feb 2011. emoticon Now that I have become extremely familiar with the site, I am finding teams that suit my needs, and weeding out the ones that don't. I'm looking to surround myself with positive, and uplifting people. I have been getting tremendous joy from cheering on my Sparkbuddies as they reach for their goals, and dreams. Or offering a glass is half full attitude when they are having difficulties. I like to try to perk someone up when it seems to me like they're having a bad day. I have in turn received a lot of motivation from my buddies who have kept it positive, and cheered for me while I'm on my journey to a healthier, and happier person. I have noticed in my daily life that I have been surrounded by many negative forces, that have done nothing but drag me down in life. I am DONE with that! I'm ready to make a conscious effort to live positive! I believe it contagious, and I want to lead my life by example. Look forward to participating, and getting to know the team!

to me a positive attitude is everything and it is hard to keep a good attitude at times especially about myself but you know I am doing allot better then I was .. anyway some of my teams are not that active including some I lead.. I am working on them..but i figure this is going to be a life long trip so i need all the motivation I can get. That is why I am here..I started a new team today cause some of my challenges are way different then other peoples. being I will be the big 50 this yr and being when i do my yoga and some of my strength exercises my two yr old is climbing all over me.so I have my own set of issues here.. but you know you go with it and move on. or at least I do...giving up is not an option not trying my best is not an option. this time i am a lifer. sparks has been the key I have needed for so long and I am so grateful it is here. and I fully plan on sharing it with others and trying to help others as I have been helped...just me Ginger

Hi all. This is the first team I am joining on SP. I'm still figuring out how to post and add comments. I just signed up yesterday. I am joining this team because I do and will continue to need a lot of help maintaining a positive attitude and keeping my motivation, and I think I will find it here. Thank you for providing this team.

Hi everyone I have been using Spark People since 3-5-11 and I was doing really well, but recently I had alot go on and I have put my fitness goals to the side for 4 days straight and 4 days too many. I joined this team because I need to get remotivated. I am moving at the end of the week and I already can sense that it will be another challenging week between work and moving. Today I went for a 1.75 mile walk with Joey and Bella. It was really nice out today.

I recently blogged about my refocusing goals today and getting back on track. This team sounds like the dose of medicine that I need right now. I added a goal to my tracker for this team.

I have other teams I am on ie lose 8-10 pounds a month and the 15th was the end of month one and I had lost 8.2 lbs total then gained some ounces back...

Getting back on track is # 1 goal.

Today is my first day with this goal! I'm trying to lose 15 pounds by August! Right now I'm very excited for my goal because I lost this much weight a few years ago but I felt VERY discouraged by some people around me. I think that sometimes when you are healthy & toned to some people it appears that you are stick thin & struggling with an eating disorder. I don't think, I was just 5'4 & 127 pounds with long limbs, probably lean muscle mass, eating the right proportions etc. Eventually around exam times (I was in college) I did struggle with depraving myself, because I didn't know how to keep the weight off I believe. This became a habit that ended with me putting back on all the weight I lost. But in the beginning I was very healthy & balanced. So I do struggle with some aspects of eating disorders & I care about what people think. This is all because I think I have been ignorant to a lot.Recently I have decided to make this goal to lose this wait again, I have really been thinking about this. It makes me feel sad & discouraged to think of my past with losing weight but also feel stronger in many ways. Stronger because I know that I'm moving away from caring so much about what other people think/getting their approval, also finding healthy ways to keep my weight down. Moving blocks away in my own mind that tell me I have to deprive myself to look & feel good about my body. Has anyone else had to deal with this? Let me know, your kind words inspire me...

Welcome me, add me, all that good stuff!

Hi all,
I am new to this team, but not new to Spark or to the healthy eating, positive thinking efforts! This time, though, I am also going to a counsellor to help me resolve some of the emotional overeating and to be more supportive of myself. This team sounds like a good fit - it is all about what you say to yourself. There are so many things we can't control, but we can control our attitude. I am up for it.

Hi, I'm Gemma. I'm new to this team but not to Sparkpeople. I've been in a slump since mid-February and haven't been exercising or eating healthy. I joined some new teams because I do so much better when I'm active in the SparkPeople community. I was particularly excited to find this team. I already feel more motivated!

Hey everyone! I'm new to this team but not new to Spark. I really could use some more motivation in my life to keep me going in the right direction. I have looked for it and looked for it in my personal life but it just doesn't seem to work. My family means well, but its not exactly what I need -- ya know?

Anyways, I am really looking forward to getting into gear and doing what I need to do to be the best me possible. So anyways...HI :D

Hello, everyone! I am new to this Team, but not new to SparkPeople. My name is Alyssa, and I am a 28 year mother of two, working full time and going to college full time, all the while living on a small farm (which = LOTS of exercise! :) ) I'm excited to join this team because I've needed something new to rejuvenate my motivation and the positive attitude that I get from eating healthy, working out and, overall, taking care of me. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hi Everyone,

I am from Ottawa, Canada. I first joined SP in Jan of 2010, but didn't stick with it, however I returned on Dec 26, 2010 and have been making some serious effort to focus on a healthier lifestyle, eating habits and have made some significant changes to my lifestyle. Next challenge - to tackle my attitude! I am chosing to find daily reminders to be positive and encouraging in my internal dialogue, instead of berating and angry!

Happy Sparking!

thank you for the advice! And that's one thing that makes me feel differently about SP, almost all of the articles I have read so far, really encourage taking it one step at a time. I think that's my biggest challenge with other plans I have tried, You really can't just decide one day that you are going to do everything you SHOULD do...it takes time or it just wont work. Sounds silly, but its so true! You can't possibly change your lifestyle in one day, all you can do is take steps to improve it!
thanks again! I'm going to read the articles you reccomended now! :)

This whole site is a wealth of information. It's absolutely amazing!

But I think that my BIGGEST piece of advice would be to take it 1 step at a time! Don't try to do it all at once. For instance, start to drink more water and eat 2 veggies a day, exercise 10-15 minutes a day and eat 2 fruits a day. The next week just gradually increase it.

And portion control is key. You can drive yourself NUTS counting calories! I'm NOT saying calories don't count--they definitely do. But you can gain weight eating salads, too, if you're not careful what you put on them!

I am new to SP, I found out about SP because of a friend mentioning it on her blog (she had said that she has lost 12 lbs so far- and she looks awesome!) so I figured it must work and that I should give it a shot!
I struggle most with finding the motivation to go work out, to watch what I eat, and how to count calories. I actually know a lot about nutrition from taking quite a few college courses on the subject. Applying what I do know is a whole other story!
This seemed like a great place for me to start! Any tips on learning how to count calories and to MAKE yourself do it?!
Actually, any helpful and obviously, motivating words of wisdom would be appreciated! :)

emoticon , BK, ImLosingIt & Ali!

We're happy to have you with us!

Your best bet, ImLosingIt, is to start small. Like a 10-15 minute walk a couple times a day. Find an exercise you enjoy and it won't seem like something you 'have to' do.

Hello everyone. I'm now six weeks down the SP path and I've had a chance to observe what is working and what is not. On the up side, I've been losing weight slowly but surely and my blood pressure has come down 20 points. I've adapted to the nutrition tracking much better than I thought. I'm back to packing my lunches and cooking at home at least 2-3 times per week which is huge!!

Now for the down side, I'm going to need to get more motivated and positive about exercise in general. I have been very resistant to integrating exercise into my work routine. I have been in desk jobs for over 25 years and I'm ready to try a different approach. This month has improved thanks to working with a personal trainer once per week. My head is the obstacle here because the last thing on my list is going to the gym or even going outside for a walk. This is my biggest area of challenge and boy do I need your help!!
