Welcome to the team and I hope things get better for your son. I haven't heard of this study but since Vit. D is becoming a problem for a lot of people who stay indoors too much, it comes as no real surprise.

I have heard that RA patients generally are low in D3 vitamin. I upped my supplementation & do better, tho am still taking prescription Enbrel & prednisone as well. I think D3 supplementation is a good idea for nearly everyone in the Northern hemisphere. I do question the wisdom of using ONLy that as a means of managing RA, which can sneakily do much damage internally and to joints even when little visible symptoms are showing. Several other disorders can mimic RA symptoms as well. See a respected Rheumy and get a firm diagnosis.

I don't know anything about the study you're referring to. Sorry I can't help - but I hope everything works out!!

Hi, my son probably has RA and has been taking natural supplements to control it. He sees a specialist next week but has no intention of going on prescription meds. Does anyone know of the study where they found RA patients are deficient in Vitamin D in the upper latitudes? We are up in Manitoba Canada and he only noticed it when we moved back here from Kamloops BC. I'm thinking that may have something to do with it as we were up on a mountain and had sun for about 10 months a year. In Manitoba a lot of clouds. So he is taking a least 30,000 iu of Vit D3 for a week and see if it helps. I can let you know how it is next week.
