Hi Sunny. I started witht he 1 mile. As edard says I think my biggest challenge will be to find a middle between doing too much and using the "don't do too much" as un excuse to not do anything. So far I found that I have the stamina to do the 1 mile 3 days in a row, then I need some rest so I took one day and today I was returning fresh and new !

Can I ask you how you created the betiful scale at the end of your message ?
Thanks
Ciena

Indeed, SP with all its features and tools can be overwhelming at first. There are two very helpful ways to help you get started.

1. Join The 21 Day New Member Challenge. It's a 3-week guided program that will help you learn how to use the tools, content and community. Go to the "Challenges" tab at the top of your page, click on "Calendar Challenges". Locate "The 21 Day New Member Challenge" and click on it. Join and each day you will get an email with a link for the activity of the day.

2. Join "The Sparkpeople 28 Day Program". Go to the "Learn" tab at the top of the page and click on 'The SparkPeople 28-Day Program' to get all the details.

SUNNYCALGIRL has given you some good suggestions for the internet in locating Leslie's videos and SP has a "Walking Guide" lifestyle centre full of information.

Importantly, don't expect to change everything overnight. It takes small steps to get from where you are to where you want to be. Just think about The Tortoise and The Hare. You can win the race if you stay focused and take slow, steady steps to get there.

"Moving More & Eating Less" works so try getting in some exercise everyday even if it's only in 10 min. increments - it all adds up in the end. Try making healthier food choices and watch your portions. And tracking your food does make you so much more accountable for everything you put in your mouth. I use just a simple notebook as my daily journal where I list what I eat and whatever else I want to make note of - how the food tasted, my emotions at the time, whatever you want to make note of. My journal has evolved over time and now it includes a daily inspirational quote, how much I drink, my exercise minutes, SP details, etc. It's your journal, make it work for you.

Surveys have shown that participants in Message Boards lost more weight and stayed with their program longer than non-participants so come by as often as you can. Here at SP you'll find all kinds of motivation and support from people who have similar goals as you do. We are all taking this journey together and we truly want to see each other succeed!!

Wishing you the very best as you work towards your goals!!!

Bonjour!

My advice is to look online at Leslie's website, on Amazon, on YouTube and here on SP to familiarize yourself with Leslie's range of exercises--from gentle easy beginner exercises that are one mile to her more intense 5 mile exercises. Find some of her 1 mile beginner ones that are more gentle (about 15 minutes in length) without weights and start there. Leslie recommends starting by doing these exercises 3-4 times a week to increase stamina for beginners.

Hi,

My name is Ciena. I'm 49 and living in France. I'm 113 kilos so I really need to loose weight but I have a really bad stamina. Everything is tiring. So I watched some leslie sansone videos and thought " I can do this kind of workout !". I just don't exactly know how to start and wondered if some of you you have been as heavy as me, have made a workout plan or something I could be inspired by ?

Sparkpeople seem to be a really wonderful place to start yet a bit overwelming but I'm really motivated. Beside that it no longer a question of aestetics but of health so :-)

Thank you for this opportunity to become part of your team.
Ciena
