I'm Renee, live in Arkansas with my hubby of 33+ years. We have 4 grown kids, 3 still live at home, plus 5 cats & 2 dogs and no grandkids yet. My oldest son just got married the end of October, and they have no plans for babies anytime soon. I work full time as a court clerk.

My weight loss journey has been up and down like a roller coaster for many years. Highest weight was 272.5. Devastating, and slowly losing since then.

Momsluv_06 - Welcome to this team and the renewing of your journey. Spark works. I have lost 110 pounds using Spark. Most of it was lost with minimal exercise since I was recovering from surgery. However, I now work out with a trainer twice a week and get there from 1-3 more days on my own. I still have many pounds to go, but I am in good shape which is amazing since I used to weigh 330 pounds. If I can do it, you can do it too! I also love to cook healthy food, knit, crochet, spin yarn, bead, stencil, needlepoint and read (I also have a Cricut machine, but I haven't really played with it!). So again, welcome and the team is here for you.

Keep on Sparking! It really works!

Hi, I am looking for a team with accountability to help keep me on track. I thought I saw this team had weigh in and other things but now I am not sure.

Anyone looking to walk more? I have a challenge on my team (Lose 2 Win) - Would love someone to join the challenge to keep me motivated.

------ Challege at Lose2Win team ---- (I am okay with any team using this idea)
The challenge if anyone wants to join me is to consistently walk 5000 steps a day.

This is Easy. Once a week (Sunday or Monday) Just post here how many days you walked 5000 steps.

Anyone who needs motivation and not walking 5000 steps consistently today can go head to head against me. After a week - compare your number of days against mine - if you have more you win, if I do I win if tie no one wins. Let's see who can get 10 wins first.

Repeat - keep track how many days you walk over 5000 steps and share with team. If you beat me you win. If I beat you I win and if we tie no one wins. Every Month the steps to walk will go up by 500 (Dec 1 first increase to 5500 steps)

I hang out at the Lose 2 Win Team. Stop by and say hi or join one of our challenges

Hey y'all! Long time Sparkpeople member...
I'm a mom to 3 kids, happily married (20th anniversary next week!) and live in SC.
I'm 5'10" and topped out at 320 lbs.
I was pre-diabetic for over a decade & on medication but found lowering my sugar intake and making better carb choices more effective and I was able to get my A1C to normal range and have been off medication for over 2 years. I still live like a pre-diabetic as far as my eating choices... it's the only way to avoid the official type II diabetes diagnosis for me.

I'm now 259 lbs but have another 60-94 lbs to lose (varying because I feel super stuck right now and would be grateful just to get to ONEderland at this point!)
My issue now is the fact that I had major back surgery 5 weeks ago. I had rods & screws implanted.
Right now I'm not even allowed to bend over and have weight restrictions & wear a brace.
It's hard for me when I'm feeling good not to do too much, but really my only allowed exercise is walking. (and yay, it's a good thing I love walking!)
But lately I'm finding that just staying in what is supposed to be a weight loss range of calories for my weight/height/age & my daily walking doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere. It's like my metabolism never woke back up from my surgery! Oy.
Just looking to connect with others on this long journey... maybe get some inspiration, exercise ideas to keep in mind for when I'm physically able to do them again.

Heat730 - yes. it has been an interesting journey with this young man. When I stopped trying to make him to be like all so called 'normal' kids and accepted him for the person he is I was the one that learned a lot. We live in a small rural community and when my son was diagnosed this was all new.(when he was 3, I went to public health concerned that he was not developing mentally the way he should be and was told I was a bad mother for even thinking such a thought. I was not a bad mother, they were not good at their job at that time) So - we had no guidance or guidelines to help the school or me to help my son;it was pretty much research it yourself and trial and error. oh yes, and dope him up with Ritalin so he was 'calm' in school. The day he fell off the bus was the day that ended. I decided I was not having my child stoned out of his mind to accommodate ignorant teachers that did not know or want to know how to deal with him. He graduated but I don't know how because he missed more school than he attended - which in my opinion shows that he is not dumb. It's all in how the subject matter is presented to him and I do believe there are some subjects that he was more knowledgeable in than the people that were teaching the class. Now - 25 years later - things are very different because there are so many more individuals in class with spectrum disorders as they are umbrella under. It's too bad that our child fell between the cracks but as I said, I have learned a lot from the experience. I do think he will be just fine, just taking a different path than what is expected. But eventually all roads lead to Rome as they say.
I have been here roughly 2 weeks and find it very supportive. I think this is probably one of the best things I have done for myself in a long time. I am looking forward to getting to know you as well.

@LADYLINDA1 Welcome to the team! This truly is a supportive environment! I am incredibly sorry to hear of your husbands struggles. I personally know what it is like watching the people we love go through obstacles with health, and it drove me into a dark place. I too am an emotional eater and that lead me to my highest weight as well. These wonderful folks on Spark that I have surrounded myself with have been the greatest joy I have found in a very long time. We are all here for you, rooting you on every step of the way!

I work for an agency that specializes in services for folks that experience developmental disabilities. It has been a very rewarding job thus far and some of my favorite people I have met in the last 3 years also experience Asperger's. It is a treasure to be able to view the world through their eyes.

Take care! I am really looking forward to getting to know you!

Hi all,
I am American (born and raised), but have been living in northern Europe for the past 21 years (I also lived in western Europe for almost 2 years before moving to northern Europe). That makes a grand total of 23 years outside of the US. I am 46 years old with 2 children (the eldest is in the 4th grade and the youngest will start 1st grade next year). I suffer from PCOS. My highest weight was 365 and my current weight is 232 (it fluctuates between 227 and 232). My goal for now is to get under 200lbs. My ultimate goal is 145lbs. I'm 5'3.25".

Hello everyone!
I was born and bred in the beautiful hills and valleys of the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. I have lost large amounts of weight several times, but have always gained most of it back. It's a very complicated twisting of factors, that it has taken me years of dieting and failure to unwind, but I understand it all now and am trying to finally succeed once and for all. I am currently living the Keto lifestyle and thriving in the new way that I am approaching it.
I am currently the full-time caregiver for my Father-in-law. I have been married to my Hubby for 20 years and we have a sweet Pup dog named Harley Dawg.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know you all and building some amazing friendships along the way!

Hi everyone, I'm Erin. I just turned 41, and I live in Minnesota. I have about 140 lbs to lose, and have lost 13 lbs since restarting Sparkpeople last month. I do intermittent fasting (16-18 hrs most days), and that has helped my digestion and insomnia immensely. For food, I don't follow a specific plan, but I generally eat 40% carbs, 40% fats, and 20% protein most days; I rarely eat processed foods, and eat lots of veggies, lean proteins, and healthy foods.

Looking forward to meeting some new pals here!

hello fellow sparkers;
I am a 64 year old Canadian woman. I am currently at the highest weight I have ever been and am a bit 'down' about it. My motto has always been don't sit and cry - do something about it. So here I am.
To fill in some background on me;I am married for the second time around. Have a 46 year old son from my first marriage - he is married with 2 children, 21 and 17. I have a son with Asperger syndrome 30 yrs old on Sunday and a 28 year old daughter that is getting married next august. My hubby has had a lot of severe health issues and is having mental difficulties because of them. He basically is not here for me anymore. Some days I don't think he can even focus on being here for himself. Needless to say it seems everything is on me these days. It sure feels like it anyway. I am an emotional eater so that is why I am having trouble with my weight. After seeing my doctor yesterday and seeing the numbers both on the scale and the blood pressure monitor I realize I need to do something that will support me in my goal to get both those numbers down. My doctor suggested I see a councilor so I can talk to someone instead of eating but the soonest I will be able to see one is the end of October. As I told my doctor - I am a 'professional' dieter that has pretty good success but because I have so much weight to lose I give up and slide back into the old snack and junk food habits. I need the support of others on the same journey.
I am hoping this group can help with that.

Hi! I am Heather and I come from the small town Eagle River in the beautiful state of Alaska! I was born and raised here and absolutely take pride in it! I am a mother of three teenagers, Tristan 17, Vinny 15, and Kiera 13. They are my world and ultimately the reason for taking the steps towards a happier and healthier me. My daughter started to gain a bit of weight last year and I knew I had set a terrible example for her. I had always wanted to take the first steps in a weight loss journey but lacked the courage and conviction to do so. November last year Alaska was rocked by a 7.1 earthquake. My office was destroyed while I was sitting in it. The ceiling came down along with light fixtures, bricks, and a waterfall caused by a broken water line. The water was filling up the emergency exit stairwell, so we had to evacuate quickly. The whole experience was a true eye opener for me. I started working remotely from home for several months. January of this year I discovered SparkPeople and my life has totally changed for the better!

I started my journey weighing in at 310 lbs. The heaviest I had ever been! I put on a lot of weight while battling some pretty severe depression. In a one year time my mom passed away, my best friend committed suicide, and my brother passed away. Aside from my husband and kids these were the 3 most important people in my life and I thought I still had years left with them. All of their passing was very sudden and unexpected. I completely spiraled downward and drowned myself in food. I have been a heavy girl my whole life, but not quite like that... I am proud to say I have clawed my way out of my darkness and am now sitting at 219.5 lbs! 9.5 lbs away from a 100 lb loss!

I don't have a particular plan that I follow. I do 30 + minutes of cardio 3-4 days a week, 45 minutes of strength training 3 days a week, walk at least 12k + steps a day (most of the time), and Sundays are meal prep day and a new exercise (swimming, biking, yoga, etc.) For eating I try to keep it 1500 calories or less a day. I eat the highest nutritional valued foods with the lowest calorie buck. So far so good!

I am very honored to be invited to join this team! It truly feels like a supportive environment and it is something I totally need. Some days I find the depression creeping back in, but I can usually combat pretty quickly. It is a learning curve and I am always up for advice/suggestions and a little bit of encouragement and patience.

Cheers to you guys for overcoming your own obstacles and putting forth the effort to make your lives healthier and happier!
