Hi everyone

Just continued my membership for Spark Coach out of the free trial today - I was in about day 5 and am still getting used to navigating the site, however the days I have logged in I have felt so more empowered and in control so I am making sure I really take advantage of the site.

My husband and I really just haven't made our health a priority and have become overweight - there is no other reason or excuse. We used to be very healthy and in shape and for me personally I put everyone else ahead of myself, my employees, my career, my pets and my husband. However I don't want to be like this and don't want to "wish" for being something else. I just want to be my best me yet. I really think Spark Coach helps me commit daily to not only putting myself and my health as number one but also helps to bring out the best in me so I really look forward to what I am going to accomplish with its help.

Anyway look forward to getting to know some of you

Natalie

Hi! New to SparkCoach, been with SparkPeople for quite a while now, but had gotten out of the habit of visiting here. I was 5 lbs away from my goal weight (which probably needed to be adjusted because of building muscle!) ran a half marathon last spring, and completed a triathlon in August!

Unfortunately, shortly after my triathlon, I fell into a major depression, lost an additional 15 lbs, and my appetite for anything healthy (originally I wasn't eating anything, but then I began to rely heavily on carbs and especially sweets to get me through the day). Additionally, I had developed an ingrown toenail that needed to be surgically removed, and couldn't run for several months. (Which depressed me further, as running is one of my major stress busters!)

I am finally healthy again, and am finding a renewed drive for fitness! I am kicking my sugar habit cold turkey (no added refined sugars, no sweets except one piece of dark chocolate every few days, but I haven't even needed that!) I'm signed up for my 2nd half marathon, and have about 5 months to train.

I've dabbled in SparkPeople stuff online for over two years now. But, I need more direction so am trying SparkCoach. I thought about trying weight watchers, but wanted to do this as I'm familiar with the tracking tools. I have 36 pounds still to lose to be at 150 where I'll be comfortable. Technically, that's still out of my BMI range, but I've always weighed more than I've looked. Have had health issues that should improve with lifestyle changes (thyroid, adrenal glands, fibromyalgia, and other hormonal stuff).

So, new year....new goals!

Hi, I am back to Spark after about 9 month break. I just stopped logging in. I still kept up with my exercise, but didn't do so well with my eating. I gained back the 10 pounds I had lost. Now I am back and committed to making it work again.

Hello, This is my second time at spark with a whole different attitude. I finally had the Gastric Sleeve done a week ago and I know this is only a tool for getting healthy. I had the surgery mostly due to health problems: heart, diabetes, etc.

I am really excited at getting back on track with my life/health and I know Spark can help me. I want to reach out to people and be a success story not to quick on this again.

This is my third time back. I lost my "baby fat" after my last two children through Spark. They are 12, 8, and 6 yrs. This time I have new challenges, I've gone through menopause, injuries to foot and ankle and put on 40 extra lbs. I am excited to try the SparkCoach and get back on the right path of healthy living! emoticon

Hi, my name is Shelly and it is good to be back with SP. Spark Coach is just what I need in getting back to taking care of my self. Looks like set backs due to injury and losing interest is fairly common so not feeling so bad about having to "restart" (for lack of a better term) So much motivation here at SP!!

Hi, I was doing really good and felt amazing by mid-2011. Had gallbladder surgery and wound up with a back injury but still managed to finish 2011 happy where I was, and under my original goal weight. 2012 brought a tremendously stressfull bunch of major family and money issues and wound up gaining 6 pounds and adding 3 new blood pressure meds even though I was still exercising an average of 3 times each week. New Years Eve as I was finishing out my 2012 budget, I decided in for a penny in for a pound so to speak and looked over my previous year on Sparkpeople and decided that 2013 would be the year I try to undo all the damage emotionally and physically that 2012 did. So I've started back at square one and started reading my copy of The Spark, even though I can only fit in 5-10 minutes a day. Is started Sparkpeople saying it was time to put me first, now it's really time to back that up. Looking forward to making the journey with you.

Hello my name is Tisha! I'm trying to get back on the track to better health. After having my son I have kept my baby weight on for the past 3 years and I'm ready for it to be gone. I am also a Type 2 Diabetic so being out of shape is not fun at all!! As my little guy grows, so does his energy bank and momma is way too tired and out of shape to make a withdrawal....which is what I hate the most I need to be able to play with my baby so he can say mommy did! Anywho, that's me in a nutshell....trying to stay /get motivated and ready for this change!

Hello,

My name is Karen and about two years ago I was doing pretty good, especially as I look back now. I did fall off the wagon per se, but I was very active and in great shape as a curvey 57 year old. Fast forward, recovering from a serious fall with head injury, wrist and shoulder injury and a bum knee. That was 17 months ago and it's just now that I am cleared to walk by myself and without a cane. I was still having a hard time doing it, part of the brain injury had me very nauseous 24/7, kind of hard to think about moving. Then a glorious 8 days in a row no nausea and I started to walk just a little about 10 minutes a day. I've made it now to the end of our road including the hills once, the road iced over and I haven't been out but will be tomorrow. Wherein preinjury I was an exercise fanatic, I have learned the beauty of walking in the fresh air and appreciating the fact that I can move again. Our new puppy arrives in less than a week and that has "sparked" me to move more and extend myself physically in other ways. Of course it's a positive and more excitement than I've had for awhile, hoping to have a walking and house companion, my little buddy Kirby. Just in time for my 59th birthday emoticon Glad to be with the Coach, that feature wasn't here when I was last involved. Looking forward to it.

Hello, my name is Chris, and I am a mum to two energetic young boys, married to a great man, father, husband. I am doing this program in the hopes that it is the extra help that I need to reach my goal. I don't really care about the number on the scale, I care about the health benefits of reaching my goal, I do not want to be at high risk for diabetes, heart problems, and liver disease any longer. I want to be around for my kids and future grandkids. I just started today, so I will see how I feel about it in 7 days.

Hi! My name is Bonnie and I have used SparkPeople before. I like how the site is set up. I am hoping that this year I will be successful. I am mother of 1 fabulous daughter. She just started college this fall. My husband recently found out he is diabetic and I am trying to learn what foods to cook to help him through his diabetes as well as helping us to lose weight and get healthy. I just joined the SparkCoach program. I am hoping this will be the tool that will help me through the Spark program.

Hi! My name is Rene and I too am just getting back on the "get healthy" train. Several years ago I lost quite a bit of weight with WW. I kept it off for 4-5 years, but concentrated more on the numbers rather than how I felt. Those numbers brought me to a not so easy to maintain spot, and when I started gaining back a bit I threw in the towel. I am now ready to concentrate on health and getting strong and fit.

Looking forward to "working and learnng " together

Hi, I am Laura. I've lost weight successfully in the past and regained all of it. This time, I am looking to make permanent changes in my lifestyle not just lose weight. I'm disgusted with myself that I actually lost the weight I needed to and then thought I was "done." How silly was that? So, here I am. Older, hopefully wiser, and ready to start something new that I can live with for the rest of my life. I'm also turning 50 this year and finding it harder to lose weight and a little terrified of that older looking woman in the mirror. I hope to learn with and from all of you and also be a support to others as we make this journey. Have a great day, everyone!

Hi! I am Debbie. I have tried Spark People before, but sad to say,,,, I fell off the wagon. This time around I feel like I had a light bulb moment and am going to put together every part of this program together to help me. I am no longer going to consider this a diet, but a part of my life forever. I can't stand the fact that I yo yo diet.....it is not good for me and I finally realize it.

I am 62 years old and live outside London. Having tried to lose weight, with limited success, over the last year, I have decided to try the SparkPeople coaching programme. I love cooking and trying new recipes so need to be able to indulge my taste for good food with healthy, varied recipes.

I look forward to hearing other members' experiences.

Hello, my name is Jennifer. I live near Atlanta. I have been on and off sparkpeople as well. I have had many discussions with my husband in the past about my weight. He is so supportive, by the way. In talking with him and getting feedback, I have concluded that I can't continue "dieting". I think this is why my brain keeps going back to this great site. The permanent changes are the small ones that you keep chipping away at. Since I've committed to SP again, I've already seen some small changes taking place. I am also forgiving of myself when I'm not perfect. I use my food log and record of activity as things to reflect on or change and things to celebrate too. I just signed up for the coaching program. I love what SP stands for and I think the daily exercises will get me closer to my goals, quicker.

Hi everyone,
My name is Helen, I am 48 and the mother of 3 boys. My current weight is 143 and would like to get down to a healthy 130. I've been off/on Sparkpeople for years now but never seem to stick with it. I find tracking my food & exercise to be the most helpful part of sp. I live in Idaho and looking to stay motivated through the winter months especially. I'm hoping this time will be different. Here's to a fresh start for 2013

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.

Happy New Year everyone!

I'm Kathy and after stepping on the scale this evening I went right to my computer and got on the SparkPeople website. I noticed the SparkCoach program (something new since I was last here) and decided to jump right in and buy a year's subcription.

I'm a 68 year old Grandma of four (3 boys, 1 girl). If I don't get this weight off there will be no way I can keep up with those kids so that is my motivation.

I'm excited and I hope we all reach our goals in 2013! emoticon

Hi everyone! My name is Christine and I am excited and somewhat nervous to start sparkcoach. I joined sparkpeople last year, but then quit for various reasons. Now I am back at it and really want to make this work, but I am very nervous that I will once again fail emoticon . I hope that with the tips and network of people on SparkCoach that I will be able to meet my goal and live a much healthier life for my husband, son, and self.

Hi! I'm Rhonda. I've been off and on SparkPeople for years. I've lost and gained . . . I just finished nursing school and most of the past two and half years, my diet and exercise plans were not a priority. Ironic coming from a new nurse, huh? lol!
Anyway, school's done so I don't have that as an excuse anymore. Time to finally get my weight sorted out for good.

I wasn't impressed with the first day either, but probably the 4th day had me sold completely. You can ask the coaches questions after starting the paid version.

Decided to start the year off with a bang and I am trying out spark coach.

I love spark people and what it has done for me and for so many others. I wish I had been active when I started instead of signing up and never even checking my m.ail for a year. To think where I would be now. There was so much offered at the beginning it is a wonderful tool

I am holding out judgment on this until I have used it for several days and see what it has to offer. not impressed with the first day.... but then again it is only the first day.

I am wondering- will I get actual feedback from one of the coaches? Will there be specific things I will need to accomplish? Will I be able to ask questions and have them answered?

I did have a personal trainer for a little bit and did become stronger and more fit. Maybe I am thinking that is what this is/was going to offer. I need some of that push to do the Strength training. The cardio I am doing good with.

I will give this a try. I had wanted to know how much it was before I signed up which was why I put it off for a while. So now I will see if I think it will be enough for me. I am optimistic! I want this to be MY YEAR!

Hello everyone! I have used Sparkpeople for years now off and on. The main reason that it has been off and on is because of pregnancies. I have 3 children all girls and I am really ready to change. I have no excuses any more. I am sure that I can do it this time with the help of sparkpeople.
