Lately, I've been trying to make sure I'm getting more exercise. I don't like how my clothes are fitting. Exercise helps one get better sleep. BUT exercise also makes me hungry. Trying to balance this and not overdo anything.

I've been filling out one of those blank cookbooks, to give to my son. I ordered it online (b/c those are difficult to find!) and am disappointed that it doesn't even have a bread section. I started adding those items in the "other recipes" and "side dishes", until last night. Last night, I simply wrote BREAD over the listing for "beverages" (which is, thus far, a blank section.) emoticon I'll be 'xplaining why there are biscuit, muffin & pancake recipes in the *wrong* category. emoticon

I gave one of these cookbooks to my daughter, a few years ago. Had NO problem finding a beautiful "recipes for my daughter" hardbound blank book. Wish I could've found the same type of book with a generic/different title, for my son.

That sounds great, LIN. I always feel better when I've sorted through things and am able to clear stuff out.

I had a discouraging day, yesterday. The brisk dog walk was good, but, the rest of the day wasn't. 3AM texts, this morning, about a sick pet. Hoping & praying all is better, and today is a better day.

This week, I learned that my bum shoulder (that's what I call it, since it is like a problem child) hurts b/c of arthritis and not in need of rotator cuff surgery. Shew, that's a relief. Altho, it still hurts 24/7. Nice to know that I don't need surgery. It may hurt, but, I told DR that I'm not ready to be on some kind of daily pain pills. I baby it and look for natural remedies. I wish I could find the concentrated tart cherry juice (that used to be available everywhere.) I remember taking 2 TBL a day of that & it was helpful...while it didn't take ones pain completely away, it took the edge off.

It is nice to hear from you, ON_A_DIET. Your unsweetened tea sounds a lot like what DH drinks. He had a die-hard soda habit (couldn't remember a time when he didn't drink pop!) After scary blood test results, he now strictly drinks unsweetened iced tea. He uses either black tea, or green tea. He will put the tea bag in the bottom of a 24 oz insulated cup, add ice & water...keeps adding more water & ice as needed...all day. Surprisingly, the tea bags steep just fine in cold water, too. I've done the same with fruit teas.

I've been at SP for close to 9 yrs, now. I initially lost the weight I wanted, then gained some back. I was gone (from the website) for awhile, but came back to help me stay focused on my weight goal. Recently, I've joined a small group of friends for weekly weigh ins. Having the local moral support does help.

Happy New Year, to you.

Hello to all of you superb Sparkpeople members. The new year is here.

I have been keeping myself occupied with work and side hustles. When I wake up it is dark outside. When I go to bed it is dark outside. When is the time change ever going to get here?

Instead of drinking my favorite diet lemon iced tea in my sports water bottle, I made a pitcher of unsweetened black iced tea. Tastes good for a change.

I may be quitting Sparkpeople. In 2015, I began Sparkpeople and weighed 170. It is now 2019 and I still weigh 170 pounds. I think I need to pursue different avenues. If you really want me to stay, tell me. If not, I really may have to go.

Have a good weekend.

Bought new 7 quart crockpot Walmart $20.00 December 26, $70 there on December 27th. Saved $50. Evening of 27th got cold, made a pot of chicken soup yesterday to have for a few days. I had to be well enough to pick up some chicken.

This week has been busy with cookie baking. I've made no bakes, haystacks, chocolate with peanut butter chips, peanut butter cookies with the Reese's cups and more with the Hershey kisses. I have the sugar cookie dough chilling in the fridge right now for cut outs. I also got a Gingerbread House Kit for my oldest son and I'm using regular graham crackers to make mine.
I don't eat eggs or dairy so I won't be eating any of those cookies, except the sugar cookies because I used substitutes for them so I could have some.
It's been a busy week and Christmas isn't even here. I'm glad my kids are on their school break now so I won't have to wake up at 6:30 every morning for two weeks. I have to work this weekend so I was trying to get everything done so I'm not doing everything at the last minute.

BD coming up in a few days. Decided to try an online recipe for key lime cake. I don't usually makes cakes from scratch; but, this time I decided I would.

Actually, I had planned to take it to a get-together. But, that didn't happen as planned. Little bit flustered, at the moment.

It's a busy time of year! I finished 2 sets of crochet cotton hot pads. My next project is to make a netted bag (beach tote bag). They are made with the heavy pet resistant poly screening; fabric added for side pockets. Nice sturdy & useful bags. Members of our craft group have all made quite a few. I made one for myself. This will be my 2nd one. We have a show 'n tell at the craft group, and one does enjoy seeing others projects.

I have a friend whose trying to socialize 3 very skittish kittens. They come from a feral mama. She's keeping the kittens in her home & needs to get them used to someone else voice besides herself. We've gone twice, to hold the kittens. They hide, hiss & growl. The one I've held doesn't hiss & growl, just tries to get away. He's the snuggly one. He calms down when I cuddle him against my neck (first day) and swaddle in my fuzzy sweatshirt (2nd day.) The growliest one, actually stays next to the person who is petting & holding her. It seems like they're never going to like us, but, I think we're making progress.

I think I shared this, that DILs mom passed away of breast cancer. She was only 59 or 60 & DIL is way too young to be losing her mom. My heart goes out to her.

Omigosh, Janice. Your experience with the Dermatologist sounds very frustrating! Sometimes, I feel like throwing my hands up...that, it is them who don't deserve our patronage. (I felt that way after some aggravating med insurance issues, before. Like, "they don't deserve me." LOL) . Altho, many times, we can't just quit them/search for another/etc. It's not always an option.

sometimes it can be very overwhelming being put in charge of everything- I had to go to the Dermatologist who discovered the Cancer cell on my chin, after I had it taken care of back in July- I had to go to her for a follow up appt- after sitting in the room for almost 40 mins- she came in & asked what I was there for?? I told her & she looked at my chin and asked where it was & then she saw the tiny scar and said it looked good- really...... I paid $35.00 and wasted 45 min of my time, I don't have to go back until Jan 2019 for my yearly check-up, hope everyone has a productive week

My recent weeks have been about being in charge of community dinners. First, it was the spaghetti dinner. Now, it is a baked potato & salad dinner. Stepping out of my comfort zone, for sure. But, finding out that I can do it & survive. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Am sorry that I haven't been here, on the team page, as much. I'm thankful for the continued interest in our water challenge. GO TEAM!! Y'all are emoticon

Oh yes. We've got one who rests her head on our knee (when we're at the table.) We had a glass table, once, and she would sit and watch us through the glass. It was funny and kinda weird. emoticon

I am sorry for the loss of your dog. I know the feeling of missing them, even years after they're gone. They become such a big part of our lives. We had a Pointer who lived to be 16; a dog who grew up with our kids & still missed. Our Labrador mix is just now 7 & I'm seeing more grey on her face all the time. emoticon

I have to take the cat for his yearly check up & shots this morning, then try to get the lawn mowed between the rain. I miss my dog, he passed away 10 yrs ago now. When I ate pizza, he would put his head on my leg and look up at me with those eyes, and as you say who can resist, so he always got my crust...lol

Thank you for the suggestions. I have a good yoga DVD that I keep meaning to start using. I need to keep it in the LR, so when I wake up too early, it is where I need it to be.

I miss Zumba. It was a lot of fun. Have gotten into water aerobics, tho, and it is also fun. emoticon

There are the morning walks. Doggy keeps me motivated, for those. One cannot resist the cute puppy dog eyes. emoticon

I got my lawn mowed this morning before it got too hot, I cleaned out the Pole Barn to get ready for my delivery of pellets for the winter, not sure if we'll have Zumba tonight because of the heat.
Have a good week

It is the stretching with the deep breathing and focus that is good for stress.

Zumba verses walking; NO contest!!

Having quiet days but got out and a bout a bit this weekend with hubby home. Went to the library and came home with a stack of books! One is on Jewish Holiday cooking. Totally new to me. Interesting book.

May you all have a wonderfully blessed week!

I haven't done it, but can you do some Yoga?? they say that is good for stress, this morning at 4:25, I heard I heard a cardinal outside my bedroom window, singing like crazy, then the other birds chirped in, hopefully I can get a nap in later. My Zumba instructor is on vacation this week, so I went for a walk instead this morning. Have a great week all

I participated in a work party. After that, I baby-sat my lil nephew doggy. His parents were gone, so I went over & spent a couple hours with him. He sleeps next to me, on the couch, while I crochet. First time I babysat, he was all nervous & jittery. He's used to me now & we're best buddies. emoticon

I heard a comment that my dog was getting tubby (can't remember the word they used, but, I'm sensitive about it...b/c she's been overweight before), so, I decided to go for a longer walk. It wasn't too far, but, seemed to poop her out. She & I can certainly use it...so we will continue. I'm more concerned about doggy encounters, than I am distance. All went ok, tho. Will keep my fingers crossed. We've been charged at, before...but, this is a new place.

I believe that exercise & healthy eating are equally important. We are all a work in progress. Do what works best for you. emoticon

There were many days that I did just 10 min of exercise. I encourage you to do what feels right.

I made a decision this evening to work Monday - Friday and exercise on the weekends. I think this is a wise decision. By the time I am finished working, I am so exhausted. What do you think?

I have been away from group as I seem to have very little time. I recently bought a Cosori 8 in 1 multi cooker as I needed a new crock pot. I have not done electric pressure cooking before so it is new to me. I use my crockpot regularly and love using it. But now I have options for even quicker healthy meals. I hope others will share recipes for these new multi function pots.

I sure know what you mean . If there is dessert in the house, I can't leave it alone. emoticon

Right now, I'm trying to figure out a good type of cookie to serve at a Mardi Gras party. I've changed the food colorings in a Neapolitan cookie recipe I have 'n hoping they will turn out [that the colors will show up enough once the cookies are baked.] The dough sits in the fridge overnight before baking. I am starting early, just in case I have to make some changes to the recipe. I will freeze whatever I bake, as there are a LOT of cookies needed for the party.

I have a recipe for cinnamon rolls with apple pie filling, I'm fighting the urge to make them cause I know I will eat them, I gave most of the cookies from Christmas away- if they aren't in the house I won't be able to eat them, I think it's time for a cup of tea

Recently had visitors; so I baked some goodies, for them. I used to bake a LOT. Baking is more of a rare occasion, now (one of the ways I keep myself from eating too much of the sweet stuff.) I ended up eating way too much of it all, and am now fighting the cravings. emoticon Another reason that I don't bake that much, anymore. emoticon emoticon

I may not be on here next week, as I'll be with DD as she recovers from surgery. I'm stressed, but looking forward to the time we'll have together, just the 2 of us. Maybe we'll put up decorations. She's asked me to cook/bake her a few things.
