Hello everyone. My name is Nicole. I am an emotional and I tend to over eat. I get so depressed at times that I ether stay in bed all day or make a huge bowl of air popped popcorn or chips and I can easily eat the entire bowl. I am not even hungry but I just love food. Good makes me so sick also from all my allergies. It makes my physically and mentally sick. My mind gets all cloudy and I have these sneezing fits and paralyze in my arms and legs at times. You would think that would make me stop eating so much for whatever reason but it doesn't. I need some help here.

Hi! My name is Claire. I have been on this team before, but wasn't active so I left the team. But I know I'm an emotional eater, so why not get the support that's here just for that reason?

Hi everyone! My name is Melissa and I am definitely an emotional eater. Because of this I've had a really hard time making progress towards my weight loss goals.

I'm 34 years old, married with 2 stepchildren (ages 12 and 13) and 3 furry babies (cats). I love creative writing, keeping up with politics and current events, and I love music.

I just joined today and hope to get to know everyone!

Hi everyone! I joined SP five years ago and lost 25 pounds. I did pretty well on maintenance but just fell apart over the past six months and have gained over 15 pounds. Just started back logging my food and exercising and am hoping to get it under control soon. Hoping be a part of this team will help me cure the emotional eating for good.

Hello everyone :)

I've been on Spark a few years and have been serious about the healthy lifestyle thing for a little over a year...consistently exercising, checking in here and being mindful of what I eat.

BUT...since the time change I have been out of whack. I was an evening exerciser, running outside after 6 pm but that is not possible now with it getting dark so early and safety is an issue. I am single, moved to the other side of Texas (from where I was) for my job 14 months ago. Friends are hard to make at 41, co-workers are out of the question so I struggle with loneliness once the holidays get rolling...from October through February. It's a long story but you get the idea. I am independent but miss having my gal pals to hang out, grab a movie, go dancing, etc. now and then. Most of the time I do really well and I do force myself to go out to 'meet up' groups on occasion but I always leave feeling empty...hard to connect when you're in a big group of strangers :(

Anyway, for the last three weeks I have slacked on exercise and added sweets and junk back into my meals...I still eat the healthy stuff I just add the crap!

Thanks for this group...hoping to get some tricks, tips and good advice!

Everything we do in life is a choice...I can't blame others for my thoughts or actions.

Faith is taking the first step-even when you don't see the whole staircase.

Hi all! I am fairly new here and have (at least) 50 pounds to lose. I'm 44 years old and want to be healthier at 40 than I was at 40.

Did great my first 3 weeks on SP and then started caving in to the evening comfort food cravings - less than before, but still enough to stop my weight loss flat. Not only that, it isn't even comforting. :(

I want to change this habit ASAP!!!

Hello. I am new to this team and look forward to participating in it. I am such an emotional eater. I eat because I am happy, sad, mad, tired, bored, on & on. I am ready to do something about this over eating. I am pretty sick with a cold right now and not sure if I will be on tomorrow but I will be back as soon as I feel better. I can't wait to meet and speak to everyone.

Hello! I'm a long-time Sparker, but I'm new to this team. I've lost and gained and lost so many times, and I finally see that I need to cope with the emotional eating if I want to maintain for good.

Been doing spark for a few weeks, new to the team as emotional eating is what's slowing me down with these last few pounds to lose. Boredom, happy, sad, lonely doesn't matter the emotion and I have been under a ton of stress lately. I've blogged extensively about it. Sweets are my poision. Stress kills me. The lady with all the chocolate in the class room is killing me. My weight is barely moving but it is going down.

Namaste,

Hello everyone, I'm new to the team but have been with Spark for a couple months. I must confess to being an emotional eater and it is my down fall. It gets me every time I try to eat healthier. I want to be stronger and not give in to the emotions.

I have about 95 lbs to lose to reach my goal but am working on 5 lbs at a time. It sounds like losing 5 lbs is a lot more manageable than saying I need to lose 95 lbs. I lose weight very slowly and I yo-yo a lot, but I really want this weight off.
I've tried a number of different plans but I think for me it's a matter of cutting calories but making the most of what calories I do allow myself. So I'm trying to eat more fresh produce and fruits, and limiting all the junk foods. I do eat meat but am working to cut out a good portion of that and limit it to mainly fish and chicken.
My exercise is sporatic at the best. I'll go days and not do much then for a week or two go crazy with activities that are considered exercise. I need to get more into a regular routine of daily exercise that I enjoy doing.

Hey yall,
I am new to this too, and I feel like I am going to become really good friends with this because I have always been an emotional eater...except my food of choice is Coke!!! I am scheduled for lap band on 11/29 and I have a lot of stress in my life at the moment and I am so scared I won't be able to put the cokes down. I feel like I can do anything else, but when I get stressed I reach for the coke...
I don't have a lot of support at home so I am going to be leaning on a few of you (that is if you don't mind!!!) I am so glad to be on here, and thankful I ran across this site strictly by accident the other day...or maybe it wasn't by accident, but by design!

Hi, I'm trying to prevent emotional eating from starting. The only emotion-based foods in my diet are lattes and cereal. When I feel like eating ice cream for dinner, I eat cereal. That makes me lose weight but it puts me in starvation mode. Sometimes I feel like eating my favorite fudge bar, but i don't keep it in the house. I never buy it.

Hi! Im new to this team but not to sparkpeople! i've been a lot more serious about sparkpeople since last Spring when I got up to my highest weight ever! I tend to do really well for awhile then I blow it all with a binge or several binges! I'm doing better about getting back on track right away. I used to think if I messed up I might as well binge the rest of the day but now I know thats stupid thinking! I've also recently been exercising more consistently then I ever have before. I have been making a effort to get 8 hours sleep every night which gets me to bed during my binge danger time. I also think it cuts down on cravings when I'm well rested. Not that my problems with binging are cured read my blog and you will know I still struggle and probably always will! Im a knitter and I find working on my latest project also helps me not to snack too much at night! Im a married mom of 9 and grandma. I also work as a nurse 3 days a week. emoticon emoticon

Hi all. I'm new to this group. I am an emotional eater and a nighttime eater. I do great during the day at work, but when I get home I crash. All I want to do is sit in my comfy chair and watch TV and eat. I lost 70 pounds since last August. I had gastric bypass. The last few months I have been getting off track and I notice I'm slowly putting on a pound, taking off a pound. I never want to go back to that weight in fact I want to lose about another 20. So I've decided the best thing for me is to allow myself a few little "treats" because I've tried and tried to quit cold turkey and it lasts about 2 days. So each evening I am allowing myself 3 small york peppermint patties (56 calories each) and a serving of Greek frozen yogurt. It's just like ice-cream. (100 calories) I LOVE it and it's good for you. I'm going to try this to see if I can get back in control.

I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read and all the friends I want to see.

Hi! My names Marina and I'm an Emotional Eater...stress, boredom you name it. Been a member of Sparkpeople for a couple of years. I'm just recognizing that I keep looking for that quick fix, but when I go over my journals, I do great all day...it's after 4pm that I seem to sabotage it all. I'm going to hang out here for awhile and get some motivation! Checking in daily is probably not a bad idea either. Thanks for listening.

I am new here. Signed up about a week ago but just now coming on to introduce myself. I am an emotional eater. You name it - celebration, stress, anxiety, sadness - good feelings - bad feelings. I am working to break the cycle and use food for its intended purpose. To fuel this body and keep it healthy. Hope to gain some insight as we work together to overcome.

Hi everyone, I am here so I stop uncontrollably stuffing my face. I can't say I have struggled with emotional eating my whole life it is a new bad habit for me. I quit smoking a year and a half ago and I have seemed to replace that with eating. I am coming to realize though that I used smoking to handle my emotions and.cope with stress so..... Now I eat every time I am anxious stressed overwhelmed you name it. I have gained 24 lbs since I have quit and have struggled the last year trying to loose it only to loose and regain the same 5-7 lbs. really hoping I can get control of this

Hi everyone,

I'm Steph, 23 years old & I am definately an emotional eater. Whenever life gets stressful I like to eat chocolate & when I'm feeling lazy I order pizza because it seems the easy option. Sometimes out of boredom I'll find myself eating something & wonder why the hell I did that, especially If I'm already full. Anyway, I've already started the journey and finding that food is better when you're hungry and that cooking food makes you want it more. Chocolate is still a bit of a love of mine but I'm working on that :)

Hi every one. I also found this page through spark coach. I over eat in the afternoon and I've changed my routine to prevent overeating. So far so good. I'm scheduling all my appointments in the middle of the day instead of in the morning. I am also walking or hiking in the middle of the day. This has really been working for me. My old routine was to get every thing done in the morning and then I would have the afternoon to my self. But this was not a good plan for me. Spark coach has really help me figure out my habits and figure out how to change them. I'm looking forward to a new month and a new start!

I decided it was time I introduced myself to the group. I am 28 almost 29 and have struggled with my weight since I was 8 years old. I was always made fun of in school until about 8th grade for being chubby. This took a toll on my self esteem and I still have those horrible comments in the back of my head from my childhood. Growing up my mother was always talking down on herself and I inherited the negative self talk. I have been on a rollercoaster most of my life. Binging and then refusing to eat and so the cycle continues. I just want to get on the right path and keep moving forward. I want a fresh start and a new outlook on food and my relationship with it. It is like an addiction as it controls my life. Vacations and events are centered around food. I don't want food to control my life anymore. I want to learn how to say no to those comfort foods and find healthy ways to soothe my emotions. I look forward to the support and friendship we can gain from this group. Feel free to add me! emoticon

Greeting all, I'm Terri and have been "Sparking" since June, losing about 20 # of ugly fat along the way. What suggestions do you have stopping craving? Thanks.

Hi, I found this team through Spark Coach. I have been home on Workman's Comp for nearly 2 months, and I find that I have done a LOT of emoticon out of boredom. I bought some raw nuts for use in recipes I have found, and ended up eating them all up while watching movies. I had lost 6 pounds, and now have gained back nearly 3 just from "grazing". emoticon I did a lot of reading today on Spark about emotional eating and how not to do it. All I could think of was, "I need to make some popped corn for these times!" I hate the fact that every time I get my act together and start loosing weight again, I blow it with something High Fat or Empty Calorie binge.
