I suggest that you consider having some healthy snacks to stop you getting hungry which may be why you go for the "bad" things sometimes. It's possible that you are not eating enough to keep your metabolic rate up and it can slow your weight loss down if you are not eating enough calories. Also remember that the spark calorie allocation is based on your weight and height so it can only be a rough estimate; it takes a medical test to tell you the exact amount of calories that you need. so you can pay for the medical test or experiment with eating slightly more lean protein - the best metabolic booster - and see if it helps to speed up your loss. good luck

Welcome, Jillita55. Good on ya for joining SparkPeople. You ask for suggestions to help you stick to your daily calorie goal. I recommend the SparkPeople Nutrition Tracker. It's wonderful. You'll also need a kitchen scale so you can weigh and measure *everything* you eat till you get so you can eye-ball proper servings sizes. The wonderful thing about SparkPeople nutrition plans is you can eat pretty well anything you like, you just have to eat everything in proper serving sizes and be strict about keeping the proper carbs/fat/protein balance. Good luck, and keep posting--both successes and failures--as the research shows that folks who use the discussion threads as a support tool have the most success. SparkPeople *will* work for you if you use the tools.

I am new to this forum. I have been a Sparker since May 2010. I live in Houston area and I am retired from the police department. I have a great dog Max that makes me go on walks with him. Sometimes I eat "the bad foods", but for the most part, I eat alot of fruits and veggies. They fill me up everyday. I eat red meat sometimes. I am suppose to eat 1500 calories a day and I never accomplish this. I can't eat that much food. Any suggestions will be great. Happy Holidays to all!
