I'm about to start week 4 of SP, and want to make the most of healthier eating... I don't want to eat hay, I like flavorful food, and I enjoy cooking. So I'm looking forward to this team!

Hey, Jody, thanks! I have a crockpot, and made some good chili in it once (South Beach recipe) but others have not turned out as well. When I add only the recommended amount of liquid, the top layer often seems hard and rubbery. Does this ever happen to you? My friend is a crockpot genie; all her efforts turn out well, but mine...well...;-) Also, do you brown the meat first? It looks gray to me when I don't. thanks for response,a nd the encouragement to drag that crockpot out of the basement!

Welcome to the group. Cooking is not really that hard. I love to just experiment with different things. I have lots of recipes. Hubby picks out at least two a week to try. If they are successful we keep them. Otherwise they get a big black X across them. there is no need to involved in complicated recipes. Simples ones are easy and can be adjust to a healthy program

Keep on track

Hi all, I don't cook, really (I bake but that's not the best weight loss skill, I find), but I would like to start. 1 new recipe once a week seems like a great place to start. Are stupid questions about simple cooking techniques allowed? ;-). Kidding; I'm not as bad as all that; I can make a roast or roast a chicken, barbecue a breast or saute veggies. Under duress, though, and I find it all a bit stressful. That's why I've decided to take the plunge and just commit - otherwise I'll just keep putting it off like a trip to the dentist. Thanks for any and all support and for posting the thread. Oh, and I don't like to use processed foods, so Lean Cuisine may not be best pleased with me, lol!
