Good morning from FL! I just joined the team this week and wanted to say hello. I am 24 years old and have been successful with SP so far. I met my first goal of losing 16 pounds, so I set a second goal of losing another 14 pounds. Just 10 more to go!

Hi, I have posted here a couple of times but never introduced myself, so here I am to introduce myself (better late than never)

I am a married 58 year old male from England UK.
I am 212lbs with a goal of 180. I work the night shift in a factory and this has lead to poor eating habits which I am determined to change for good. I believe I am heading to an all round improvment in my life, better sleeping, more energy, and a more positive outlook on life.
I am aiming to get rid of 4lbs of fat every month so in 8 months time I will meet my goal.

Hi all. I am new to this also-actually I have been on it all this week, just trying to navigate the different parts of the site. I am a single mom of 4 kids, ages 22,20,15 and 7. Grandma of 2(almost 3-the end of this month) Wierd to be a grandma at 43. But I've been trying to loose some weight and nothing has seemed to work. I am looking forward to the moral support it seems you get here. I really wanted to loose 20 lbs, but really do need to loose around 30.(Wow, that's a huge number)I live in Syracuse NY-hard to get motivated when there's no sun out! But, I am looking forward to "meeting" all of you!

Welcome! I'm also making some life changes. It's hard for some of us to focus on ourselves and prioritize our health. This is not my official mantra but I tell myself by putting my health first, it is the best thing I can do for my family and friends. Hi! I joined on the 24th. I quit smoking on the 19th of February and my Quit page said something about Sparks checked it out and I joined. I'm 42,the mother of 3 teenagers and have been married to my husband for 18yrs. I have not paid much attention to my own health for a while now,I decided that this needs to be a priority. emoticon Hi there! I found SP via an article at CNN.com last week and came over to take a look. A few minutes later, I signed up.

I'm 36 (single, no kids) and have been been overweight since I was ten. I have over 150 pounds to lose before I get to a decent BMI, and I'm going to accomplish this goal by tracking my food intake, going to Curves, belly dancing, and the Couch to 5K program. I've been dancing since last October, and I joined Curves shortly after that so I'd build up strength and endurance for dance class. I fell off the Curves/dance wagon after Thanksgiving because I caught two colds in quick succession and injured my knee, and then I was complacent and didn't work out for several weeks. Joining SP has motivated me to get back in the saddle again!

I'm married with 2 kids & a dog. Currently unemployed but working on stuff so I'm busy.
Well there sure were a lot of people starting Sparks this week! I started on the 25th and been looking around, setting up my nutrition stuff because I'm anal and must manually add most of my food because I don't trust the list Sparks has ;) I've had health issues that have cause weight gain and made it difficult to exercise and I went from 160 to 265 after I got sick. I got down to 207, then just gained 15 pounds to put me at my current 222. I quit my job in October and I guess I sat around and ate a lot. I can't fit in my clothes and can't afford new one's so here I am! Most of all I need to be a healthy weight.

Hello everyone!! I am very knew to this site and really don't know how to navigate everything yet. I still have to upload a pic of myself! I have always struggled in losing weight and give myself excuses to stop dieting or cheat on my diets; in which only cheats myself.

I have now let myself go to far and need to put a stop to this!! Today was my last day of a junk food binge. I am moving forward from here!! My goal is to lose 60lbs by Oct. 30th (my b-day).Please feel free to give me constructive criticism or words of encouragement!!

Hi everyone,
I am the mother to a 13 month old. I have only been able to lose a couple of my post pregnancy pounds. Last week a co-worker asked me if I was expecting again and even though I was ticked off, it got me thinking that I really do need to try harder to lose this weight! I weigh 19 lbs more than my pre-preggo weight. I am being generous and giving myself a goal date of New Years Eve so that "should" be plenty of time!

Hi there everyone....this is like the 3rd or 4th time that I have joined Sparkpeople. I actually like the site and find it helpful, I just have a bad habit of getting bored & quiting the site. I don't want to do that this time, especially since my 6 year has decided that I am fat and he wants me to loose weight so that I can go play in the yard with hime. I am just starting out. I really feel my mind is in the right place this time. I have tried many different diets, but if your mind is not in the right place none of them will work.

Hi everyone! Just joined today and I have a lot of things to look at still on here.

My story is I was a little chubby as a small child, lost all my baby weight at 10. Did gymnastics and speed skating all through my childhood until I was 16. Stayed thin until 24 when I got a desk job instead of waitressing anymore. That's when the weight started creeping on. Not running around serving food and having all that exercise took a toll on my weight. 11 years now of that extra weight. I am looking forward to taking it all off and becoming a lot more energetic so I can play more with my 9 year old son. Looking for some buddies to help keep me motivated and accountable.

Hi All, I just joined SP today, and this site is a little overwhelming! I am not sure I will ever get through all there is to see here. I want to lose 50 lbs over the next year and I am also looking to connect with and support people with similar goals. I also recently found out I can not eat gluten - and would love to find others who can support me in this new lifestyle. I can't wait to get to know you all better! Best of luck. - Elizabeth.

Hello everyone! This is my first full day here. I think this will be a great way to keep track of what I am eating. I would like to get down to a healthier weight so I can add to my family. I already have two little girls that keep me very busy(ages 4 and 3). I am also a full-time student. I finish my bachelor's in May and will be starting grad school in August.

I know this is a weird question, but is anyone having a hard time eating as much food as they have on their nutrition plan?

Hi FSTORM..... you can track your weight on your own page.... well under My Tools , then Fitness, I think. LOL, all of us are new but I think thats how it works. SparkStreaks are great and they can bring you to your trackers too....
MY Tools, then Planner link brings you to a calendar, which may help you schedule things ... ( trying to get on an early morning schedule again.... hard because Ive been disabled and not worked and like late night tv too much! ).... and a journal that I think only you can see.
Is that enough for starters? I am trying to get used to it too.
If you to to my Nutrition under MY Tools, you can adjust the diet plan they suggest. Windows will pop up for searches for foods you like or have handy at the time ( I cant wait til payday!), and you can add, remove stuff, but also look at the various charts on all the nutrients and such that are ending up in your body every day, not just carbs and protein and fat.... I think you can check daily results on a link on that nutrition page, yea.... just look for the results link.. I think thats what it is called anyhow.
Take time, check out spark teams and the groups and learn to use the huddle stuff, its a great way to shout out to others on any such group you may be on. It also gives you points.
Give yourself a couple weeks to get really familiar. It may be that you can only learn the link routes for a couple things today because there is so much information they can all lead to!
Read a few blogs, check out my page if you like.
That can give you an idea although its probably long winded... lol..... I will do more blogs in the future too. I Like writing and its fun to see responses as people find your page or blogs and see what they find encouraging. I am finding alot of wisdom and so much support even on the first few days of this journey to make myself healthy as I can be.

I have many pain issues too. I know what you mean about frumpy. It seems to be a cycle -you feel bad so you do not excercise then you gain weight and your body feels worse making it harder in every way. But just like you I am sick of this and need to just do it. cheers to making the first step

Hi everyone, I just joined yesterday and am still trying to figure out how to work everything on the site. There certainly is a wealth of information here! One question: how do you get the little pounds tracker and the quotes when posting to the message boards? I love it but don't see where you add that. Thanks in advance!

Hi I joined 2 days ago but did not have time to look at all that this site offers. I have a long list of reasons why I have put on this weight 4 kids, serious car accident (I was hit by a drunk driver) and Stress and o yeah I love food but I want to move forward and feel better. Thank you all in advance for stepping up to this I hope we can support eachother along our path of success.
