Hi everyone, I am a 65 year old returning Sparkpeople follower. I had a lot of upheaval in my life over the past several years and so let my account lie dormant for a while. Things have settled down somewhat, (ignoring the upheaval that Covid has created for us all...) with a move almost a year ago to Manitoulin Island. I have not been able to be as active as I planned since arriving here, as most activities have been cancelled because of Covid restrictions. This area has been in lockdown now twice, with only a one week break between where we had hoped to move into the yellow or green area.
I did manage to lose 10 pounds since arriving but now that seems to have ground to a halt. Yesterday I did take my new to me bike out for a spin, to see how my arthritic knees and hip would fare, thankfully today they are no worse for it so I do plan to bike a lot more. My goal there right now is to make the ride to my sisters about 5 km from here, to visit once the lockdown lifts. Sadly today it has been raining all day so no outside time for me, and its supposed to rain for the next three as well. Hard to get any walking or biking in when water is streaming down the roads.
I don't get much exercise when I am quilting or trying to paint, but I do run around a lot after the little one year old that I babysit during the week for about 4 hours at a time. I do plan to take long walks with her but of course she does not keep a steady pace if walking as everything is new to her.
My goals here are to get back to eating healthy, have more veggies, and to become more active. Weight wise I hope to get down to 150 as my first goal, from there I will see if I need to lose more weight. By losing the weight I know my knees will stop hurting and I will likely have less issues with my hip as well.
