Hello to all on the SP site.
I'm Zig and I am working on getting as fit as possible.
I am planning on training on a treadmill and/or eliptical during the winter 5x/week.
I view the eliptical in particular as friend and foe.
Friend = Nothing trains me harder than the eliptical.
Foe = Me vs the eliptical...I want to break the darn thing someday to prove me as the winner...LOL!!!!!!!!
Went to podrunner.com for some really great podcasts that have helped me to train....free too....nice!

Hi, I am new to this team, not new to running, but new to treadmill. I just received a Nordic track in my home to use for when I cannot run outside. I have used it once and am getting ready to use it after I post here on SP. I think I like it but I really like running in nature, the good news is I have not gotten flung off of it yet. lol

Good Morning and Hi to All,
I am new here at this team and look forward to any helpful tips, advice & comments.
I am a walker, and I like walking but at this time I prefer a flat surface, that is why I have a treadmill, I have never been into running even when I wasn't overweight, yes, I know hard to believe but there was a time, so long ago when I wasn't this heavy!
I have been struggling to lose the weight this time, mainly because I'm having trouble with exercise.
I suffer from heel spurs and painful knees as well as some other medical conditions but I won't bore you with all of that ... all of these conditions would improve and be better if I lose weight. So, of course it is now up to me, I got myself this way and I'm the only one who can reverse it and make a healthy improvement!
Now, I just have to eat healthy & move!
I look forward to being here.

Hi, I just started back on SparkPeople and found out about your team. Today I was on the treadmill where I walk/run for 30 min. I want to be able to run to jump start my exercise routine. I also work with the elliptical trainer for 30 min. I will stay posted

Hi _I'm new to the team and glad to be here!
I started going to the gym regularly a couple of months ago and really like using the elliptical crosstrainer and treadmill. Am hoping to work up to 10k in an hour or so - but still have a long way to go.
I don't seem to have found the time to go more than 3 times a week at the moment - hope to find the motivation here!
Any tips for good treadmill music?

Hello all I am new here. I like to do elliptical or treadmill workouts 5 times a week. I am constantly making new play lists for my IPOD because that kicks my boredom

I'm new here. I work the treadmill evryday 6 days out of the week. I mostly do interval and look for new ways to attempt this as I get very bored. Especially now that my stories are no longer airing. So iam hoping to find new friends and new ways to work my treadmill here!

Hi, I'm Aly. My elliptical machine seems to be the one thing that has finally kept me pretty consistent with exercising. Hooray!! I try to work out 30 minutes five times a week, and I just recently boosted the level up to 4. I started out with just 10 minutes a day on a put-it-together machine that cost about $300. My husband spent an evening an a lot of effort to "build" it. Since it didn't turn into a clothes hanger (ha ha)we've invested in a really nice one now. What I love about it is that I can use it in all weather, and it's easy on the knees. I've lost 45 lbs over the course of two years. Slow...but hey...it's GONE! I'd like to lose about 5 more (it's been a bugaboo...that darned last five) and then maintain.

Hi All,

I am Aarti, I have been on SP for a decently long time, but its always been on - off. The guilt builds up and then I am geared up to start tracking and keeping things straight again. Aug - sept I got myself habituated to morning 30 mins workouts on the Elliptical. The maximum I can stick to my goal is 2-3 weeks. My work always goes into crazy hour modes periodically and thats my biggest setback in achieving my goals. Since last week I have been unable to accomplish my daily goal. I read a lot of messages/blogs to learn strategies to overcome these hurdles and stick to my goal.

I am excited and hopeful to reach my goal, I want this success....

Hi, I'm joining this team because I have an elliptical stepper and I want to be accountable for using it and have motivation in my endeavor of building up to using it for 30 minutes at a time. although it probably will be 10-15 minutes to begin with.

I am hjust starting my goals so i have a way to go but u sound like ur on the right track, u only have a half mile to go to meet ur lower goal and tbhats great. i am sure if u add just 15 minutes u will reach ur goal. i know it hard but u can do anohter measly 15 minutes.

Hello, I love the elliptical trainer and would like motivation to do more of it. I'm at 30-45 minutes and want to be at 3-4 miles. I'm at 2.5 now. I need to lose 22 more lbs but I keep yo-yo-ing because I don't stick with my diet plan. I'm an emotional eater and I find more exercise helps me deal with life's issues so much better. I am calmer anyway. But it is so hard to get myself out the door and to the sports club where I work out.

Hi I am just getting "seriously" started on weight loss and exercise. I want to be able to run 1 mile, then go from there. I hope to stay focused and get to my goal. I am wanting to lose 100 pounds total but I am going for 50 right now and then I will reset my goal later if I decide to go the other 50.

Hello Everyone,

Just popping in to say hi. This is my first post in the group eventhough I have been a member for a few months now.

I am currently working to lose, for good this time, the 20lbs i thought I lost a couple of years ago.

I have 4 children, 23, 16, 15, 12, and one beautiful grandson. I have just started working out again due to issues with my back that were more serious than I thought they were. But now I have a plan to work around my issues so I am feeling very encouraged about that.

Hi! I am Karen. I started my lifestyle change on September 1, 2009, so I am a newbie. I have been doing pretty good so far. I have already lost 9 pounds since the first. I walk on the treadmill almost every day. Last week I broke it up and walked at a minimum speed for 10 minutes 3 times a day for 6 days. This week I stepped it up to 12 minutes 3 times a day. I went from sitting and hardly every doing any type of moving activities to doing the treadmill and trying to move more. I do graphic design, so I was sitting more than I was moving, but that has changed now. I know I can do this with all of your help. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm new and wanted to introduce myself.

1. I'm a nontraditional full time student at ISU (back in school full time at 31 with a baby on the way).

2. I have never gotten extremely overweight, but I do have a few pounds to lose, and I have never been good about consistently exercising or eating right. I have been running (albeit not as consistently as I wish) for about 6 years, and have never done a race longer than a 10k, so I am in training for a half marathon this fall, and next year I will do a marathon.

3. I want a lasting lifestyle change, and a commitment to keeping myself healthy for myself and my family. I am excited about SP as a tool to help me make the changes I need.

4. My wife and I have 2 Great Danes.

5. I hate cats.

6. I love coffee.

7. I play 5 instruments... piano, bass, guitar, drums, and sax. I have played professionally at times.

8. I am an artist... I love to draw and paint and love all types of artwork and architecture. I spent almost ten years designing jewelry as my main income, and I am now studying graphic design.

9. I am not a big fan of cold weather, and lived in FL for a time, but I am probably in IA for good, since my wife loves it here, and I love my wife.

Hi - I'm Laurie, and I am new to SP. I signed up yesterday. I am trying to lose about 40 # and am planning to do so through a combo of exercise - mostly running (c25k on treadmill at the moment)- and watching what I eat, which is how I ended up here.

Love the treadmill and elliptical at the gym. At the moment, my knees protest pretty loudly if I do too much on the road, so I'm building up cardio fitness and losing some weight indoors before hitting the road again (plus, I live in the upper midwest and really can't see running outdoors once temps get below, say, 25 or 20 F). Have already had fun with bursitis in my knees and shin splints from earlier attempts to start running, but this time through am doing much, much better! :)

Hello, my name is Evi and I am in the middle of my mid-life crisis. I just turned 40 and realized that I can no longer do all of the things that I used to be able to do with ease. Among these things is running. I ran cross country and endurance runs in my long lost youth and would like to get back to it. For the last few months, I have been gradually building back some of my cardio endurance with a goal of running a half-marathon before I turn 41 (next July). Today I am laid up with some nasty shinsplints, which is my first sports injury in about 20 years, so I am absurdly proud of it.

Hello All My name is Brian I am a 29 yr old Software Engineer from muskegon, MI I Joined spark people yesterday after hearing my wife rant and rave about it for about 2 months so far I like it a lot We have 2 daughters Elizabeth 6 and Lilah 1 and I also have two other daughters from my previous marriage Makena 9 and Brianna 7. I started my Weight Loss about a year ago starting at 230lbs I lost 10 lbs right away and maintained that for the last year about two months ago my wife and I started walking Since then I have lost another 22 lbs and I am currently at 197 my goal is 175 this is the weight I was at when i got out of the millitary and when I met my wife.

Hi everyone, I'm Kelly. I'm new to SparkPeople but excited to be here. I just want to mainly lead a healthy life and shed a few pounds (mostly the lovehandles, haha). I'm kind of a beginner with the elliptical, I try to do about 20-30 minutes every other day and by try I mean this week I've been doing that, but I plan on continuing it! Hello,
Yesterday was my first day on this team. I love to walk on my treadmill after along day. I put on my earphones and off I go I am starting off slow and will work my way up. The one thing I love about the mill is I don't have any excuses to walk. It does not rain or snow and is never too hot or too cold in my den!!!!!!

New here. Been running for a little over a year. I am recovering from plantar fascitis. :( Would love some times on avoiding injury and recovering. I am so scared to hurt myself again. I changed shoes in May for Race for the Cure. I even went to a running store that watched me run on a treadmill and on a heat monitor for the right shoe. :( Do you recommend cheap supports from Walmart or should I go to a Dr?

Hey, I'm Alysa.

I've never intentionally lost weight before, but I play sports so it should help. 4 years with a steady boyfriend added nearly 50 pounds, and now I want at least 40 of them to leave!

Hello,
We certainly have somethings in common...the menopause thing has kind sent my body into a ..a..well, I don't know the exact term, but the lbs. sure started to pack on!! I started at 180, last week and today I lost 1 pound..my goal is the same, 150s, would be awesome at this point..Good Luck with your goals..

Hi Everyone

My name is Deby... I am 51 years old... I am on Top
of the Hill... Taking this time to look back over my life... and able to see clearly the direction I would like to take now...

Last Aug. 2008 I weighed in at 215 lbs. and said no more.......
I started Spark People Feb. 5 2009 weighing in at 192 pounds....

I would love to see the 140's or even the 130's again and also to fit into
sizes 5/6 its been over 20 years ....

I Have never Exercised like I have now... so I am not sure of what number will
suit me on the Scale.... so when I hit the 150's I will re-Evaluate where I am...

I make sure I do my daily jog/walking, of 105 min...
in the beginning was mostly walking now able to mostly jog... I wear my pedometer and do at least 10,000 steps per day... (in beginning could barely make 5,000)

I have a ONEderful Hubby and 3 grown sons.
My middle son has blessed me with grandkids.
