Welcome back. I eat a high protein, lower carb, moderate fat diet. Sort of a modified South Beach. I get 125gms of net carbs a day. I avoid highly processed foods mostly. Eat fresh meat, eggs, fish, seeds, nuts, real cheese, yogurt, veggies, fruits, healthy fats like olive oil and olives, decaffeinated tea, and a few minimally processed items like mustard, pickles, low carb ketchup, Worcestershire, etc. No shakes for me either. My doctor is not into that.

Hi, I am just returning to SP after some years away. My weight starting creeping up even more this winter and my blood pressure is up a bit, too. Doc said low fat diet plus exercise. All the women in my family- Great Grandma, Grandma, Mom- have been type two diabetics. My brother as well. So far I have avoided that.

My son and daughter have both had good results eating a high protein, low carb diet. I want to try that as well but am having a hard time trying to figure out what to eat. Not following any really strict plan, just trying to get in 20-30% a day of protein in my diet eating whole, real food - not shakes and fortified things.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and getting ideas! emoticon
