I have lost weight but that has never been my main goal nor my current doctor's goal for me. I have only had one doctor set a goal of weight loss for me and of that was to lose 10% of my body weight and I did that fairly easily and kept it off. The goal of this diet was to gain control of my blood sugar and I have accomplished that. I have hypoglycemia and have had problems only once in a few years. I'm a mesomorph with a high percentage of muscle. Of course, I was thin until after menopause and am not young so I don't want to ever be real thin again nor does my doctor want me to be thin. I weighed 115 until I was in my mid 40s and was sick all the time. Back then I didn't exercise so I didn't have any fat nor any muscle either. I want to be healthy and I am healthier than I have been in years but I would like to lose more weight as long as it doesn't adversely affect my health. I don't want to lose any level of function, just get rid of the fat covering my muscles if I can.

I have done South Beach Gluten Free in the past and my diet has similarities to that, Protein Power, Primal, and Paleo. The diet I am on is my M.D.s diet - High Protein, Medium to High Fat, Lower Carb. I have to stay under 125gms of net carbs a day. I eat fresh meat, lots of veggies, fruits, seeds, nuts, almond milk, healthy fats like olive oil, occasional legumes and occasional rice. I don't cull any veggies or fruits unless they are very high load on the glycemic load, like dates and raisins. I mostly avoid them and I mostly avoid highly processed foods and unhealthy foods. So I have a fairly satisfying diet without much deprivation. I do cheat sometimes though. Too much at times - mostly snacking. Meals are usually good.

Hi all. I'm new to this team, but not to sparkpeople. I'm working on lowering my carbs as I'm at risk for t2 diabetes. I'm learning. What types of plans do you guys follow and why did you choose it?
