It must be really encouraging to see light at the end of the tunnel. Long term medical problems can be so challenging! I am one person who hated to take meds as I can be assured of getting at least one major side effect but sometimes we have no option. I know losing weight will help you even more.

Thanks again Morticiaaddams. I'm going to see my neurologist today, with good news for the first time. Hooray. Hopefully they wont tweak my meds at all and I can enjoy this relief for a while, at least til I can shed SOME of this weight gain.

(seroquel is the devil drug, with topamax and gabapentin trailing not too far behind)

Welcome to the team!! For a few years I worked in a neuro intensive care. It sounds like you have been through a lot. I won't give up my bacon either or my cheese. I hope you do well with your plan.

Hello, and thanks! I've always battled with my weight, but until now I was reasonably proportionate. I've been out of work on disablity for 3 years now due to a fall and concussion that scrambled my brain a bit (oh what a LONG strange trip it's been).
Docs keep trying new meds, but I guess I'm prone to side effects, losing hair, destroying my stomach for a few months, and now my absolute favorite of all..... Extreme weight gain!!

I'll be the first to admit that my lifestyle has become more sedentary. It's hard to be enthusiastic about moving when you have a constant headache. (and yes, that's not an exaggeration.. this is the first time in 3 years that my meds seem to be giving me relief) So now that my brain actually seems to be working more often than not these days (sigh of relief) I'm going to use the time this winter to kick that fat to the curb, and also teach myself to sew so that I can alter my fat clothes that I had to purchase. Which of course just came after a deep cleaning of my closet and getting rid of anything that didn't fit, and two months later I'm up almost 40 lbs. Yup, I need to fix this! STAT! I want to fit back into my closet. Meh :(
So I've done Weight Watchers before with luck, and a few years back lost a bit while tracking on Sparkpeople, so here I am again. This time with a new approach, and if it means giving up on my bagels and sugary treats then that's what I'm going to do, because the thought of giving up my beloved bacon and dairy is well..... NEVER GONNA HAPPEN! :)

I have good days and bad days with my ability to type coherently for any length of time before brain goes into shut down mode, but I'm going to try and step outside my comfortable little bubble and try to be more social. So I hope, to be talking to you all soon, but I'm about to hit the wall, so I wanted to get out as much of an intro as I could before brain goes to mush (which is better than an extreme headache, so I'll take it, thank you very much!)

Hello! :D
