Hi karen

I am 66 also .and under 150 carbs is good for me. I like the low glycemic .
I dont eat meat . unless its a hamburger and not that often. I love fish .I dont care for veggies.
so i take a tablet for fruits & veggies lol
thats me loving sugar. and I am also about 7 pounds away .
i have learned one thing . I focus on what I can do . on daily basics

'm glad you decided to post. We have lots of lurkers and that's okay. Some people are shy. But it's fun to have more people join in.

It sounds like you are ready to nip problems in the bud before they take a strong hold. The problem is definitely the sugar and the starch. I don't mind the celery and kale but wish the problem was something else too, like liver. yech.

100 carbs is good. Most doctors can live with that. It gives you lots of choices.

I've been a member here for a long time but never participated. I just read posts and ask Morticia questions on the side, lol. I'm fortunate to be 66 yrs old and healthy enough to have "normal" bloodwork without taking meds. I'm about 8 lbs over the top weight on the body mass index for "normal" weight. (What is this "normal" word? lol) I'm lucky that the way my body carries weight people always think I weigh less than the reality, but I feel the truth.

A "bad" hip/back has limited my exercise/activity options and I'm having trouble keeping my blood pressure down. Just a couple of pounds makes a difference and I seem to be stuck where I am.

I KNOW that sugar and starch are my enemies! (Why couldn't it be celery and kale? whining) I KNOW I feel so much better without those two things. I also know that staying below 100 carbs makes me feel good! I'm starting there and fine tuning as I go. So there!

Now that I have that all worked out, all I have to do is DO IT. uh-huh.

So here I am.
