Hi, I'm Gini. I am 60 and willbe married for 40 years in November. I have been obese for the last 15 years and now have reoccuring health issues that are a result of being so big. I have 150 lbs to lose and so I choose to work on the first 100 with this team. Hope to meet many of you. I will be starting my journey as of August the 1st. I am now going to check out the July-Sept challenge to see if I can do it.

Hi, I have joined Sparkpeople today, 7/29/12 with a starting weight of 273. I am married with 3 children, and 3 grandchildren who I adore. My son Jimmy died at the age of 22 in a car accident last year, and Last week my sister had a minor stroke on each side of her body. This has been a wake up call to me that I need to start taking care of myself better because you never know how many days you have left or when a health threat can totally change your life. I'm hoping to lose approximately 110 lbs, but making short term goals along the way. Any support and encouragement along the way would be appreciated, and I will do the same for you in return.

HI, I'm known as Rosebud (my father dubbed me when born), I live in a small town just outside of Harrisonburg, VA (home of JMU). I am married almost 16 years with three children. I started SparkPeople July 4, 2012 at the advice of a fitness instructor doing my initial assessment at the gym I joined. I have an injury requiring reconstructive surgery but, due to my weight am unable to have it....I'm trying to change that so I can have the surgery and my overall lifestyle in order to become healthy and an example for my children. I am joining the July-Sept Quarterly Challenge as well.

Hello, just found this team, so I hope it will help me stay on track! I'm a wife, mom of four, high school math teacher, and emotional eater! I have over 100 pounds to lose and as I am about to turn 40 and have a tweener girl in the house, I want to be healthier for myself and as a role model for my kids. I've dealt with being heavy all my life, I have never met the recommended ranges, but now am at a all time high and very unhappy with myself. I'm on day 2 of the 28 day bootcamp and ready to make this happen!

Hi, I'm Terri. I've struggled with my weight for most of my life. Recently I hit 285 lbs which is the highest I've ever been. I'm planning a trip to Israel in September, 2013. I really want to lose at least 100 pounds by then. I'm scared to even state that publicly since I've tried and failed so many time to lose weight. I just have to do it!

Hello, I'm a newby here. I'm 66yo, retired, and mom of 4 sons. recently had both knees replaced and finally walking around again. I was well overweight before but recuperation put even more weight on, maybe I should say the boredom of recuperation. I have 100 pounds to loose and I really want to do it by my 68th birthday, July 10, 2013. This is the only team I am participating in this time, I,m not a big poster and too many teams overwhelm me so I want to give all my attention and encouragement to all of ya'll.

Hi team!

i joined up here a quite some time ago.

finally, now, i'm into about the 7th week of more sustained weight, health & fitness improvements.

and starting to panic as i wanted to lose 3 lbs a week and can't do it.

it's always less and some weeks even under 1 lbs lost.

so i thought i ought to pay more attention to the main goal of this club, which is to lose 100 lbs or more in one year.

i'm on track, on average, i think; i've been losing about 2.1 lbs per week on average.

i'm desperate to keep it up!

even now, i still have over 100 lbs to lose and it could take one year from NOW / TODAY!

YIKES!

Hello! I just joined this team. I joined Sparkpeople about 2 weeks ago. I was going to the gym and then three days ago threw my back out and have been laid up for three days. Also found out today that my family is planning a reunion end of June or July. I haven't seen some of these people in along time andi know I should try to go. I wish I would of started this weight loss journey sooner. How much can I accomplish in this little time frame? Something is better than nothing! It does sound awesome!! I probably need to clean out the emotional baggage first. I just found out today my son still feels we ruined his life when we had to move two years ago. My husbands job transferred him. It's good paying, great benefits, they even paid to move us. We were lucky we had the opportunity some did not. Here work is steady and he is in the top third in seniority. My son was accepted to a great school for his freshman year in high school. The transfer happened while he was in eighth grade. My husband left before us to make sure it wasagood move and when the school year was finished we joined him. The school he was chosen for is number 167 in the country. The high school he goes to here is like 400 out of 800 in the state. He is great student 4.0 and he would of been great in that school. We did what we had to do but it still makes me feel bad that he feels that way. He still talks to friends there and they are going over their schedules for next year so that's probably why it is coming up again now. This is the kind of stuff that really gets me off track.

Hey Everyone,

I am new to this site. I never knew about this site until last month when I was on Youtube! I thought what the heck, its free! Hi my name is Angie. I have been a member of spark people a long time. There are numerous diets I have tried, and the only thing that works the best for me is counting my calories. I have to have surgery done and my doctor said I HAVE to lose weight for her to do it. This was a wake up call for me, and now I know I can't keep yo-yo ing back and forth with my weight. I am joining this team with the hopes that it will help keep my motivation focused and so I don't fall off the wagon. I have never truly exhausted every resourse spark people has to offer so I'm trying everything now. I hope to make new friends through this.

I'm so happy to have found this team and am psyched to join the April-June quarterly challenge. I joined SP on 2/19/12 and want to keep myself motivated to lose 100 lbs. I'm trying to do this in a slow, steady, healthy, and sustainable way because, as we all know, there's some mind and habit changing that needs to go along with the pounds and inches disappearing. I really have about 125 pounds to lose, but I would love to lose the first 100 pounds in the first year. I am struggling with no motivation, poor eating habits and not getting my butt up to get some form of physical activity. I am now saying enough is enough, I am tired of feeling tired. The simplest everyday activities are getting difficult and I don't want it to get worst. THIS WEIGHT IS COMING OFF! Hi everyone!

My name is LaToya, or Leaves...I answer to both. I'm 31, living in Miami, and am about halfway through a Ph.D. program. I started SP in 2005, deleted my account, then started again in 2007. I had great weight loss success in 2009, which I lost 59 pounds - going from 315 to 256. My motivation and consistency, however, have fluctuated quite a bit since then thanks to life. Hello Sparkies. My name is Shareesa. This is not my first time nor second time on SparkPeople. I have been a memeber since 2008 if I can recall right. I'm hoping that this year will be the year I finally take control of my weight loss.
So it has been a year since I was last on here. In that year, I have gotten a promotion, finished school, and lost a little weight. I am trying to get back on track and really focus on what I need to do to loose weight and take care of my family at the same time. My approach to losing weight, that has worked for me so far is eating 6 times a day. 3 small healthy meals and 3 light snacks. Also, walking/light jogging for 1 hour on the treadmill and drinking alot of water. Sometimes it can be hard to adhere to this schedule when I'm at work. But I try hard everyday to maintin this schedule for weight loss. Hopefully around this time next year, I will be 100-105lbs smaller.
