I am Shirley Day from Indiana and I'm working on a quilt for my first to marry grandchild. She has set a date two years from now so I thought I'd better start on it now. It has been a couple of years since I had sewed. Yesterday I had to go get a new foot feed as mine just broke. Happy to hear of your adventures too. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Welcome! I understand all to well about gaining weight when grieving. I am so sorry to hear about your son's death. I can't imagine how awful that is--so young. Over a 25 month period, both my parents died and one of two brothers. I had an tough time settling the estate. I gained a lot of weight and am now working at getting it off. I am finally feeling resilient and working towards moving on with my life. You can do it too. This is a very friendly board.

Welcome - and yes it's so much fun to sink your teeth into a new project. Right now I'm finishing up a needlepoint project before getting back into my sewing room. So sorry to hear about the loss of your son, but it's good you're starting to take care of yourself. Life does go on. Enjoy your new project!

Aloha e from Hawai'i! I lost 60+ lbs with SparkPeople years ago, but since losing my 18-year-old son three and half years ago, I have put it all back (and a bit more). I started quilting to make memorial quilts from his t-shirts and fell in love with it. It saved my life, I think. I am finally able to consider taking care of myself again, although I am still so very sad. I currently have far to many UFOs and yet I am still starting a new project!!! Sometimes the urge just strikes, doesnʻt it?

Hello Everyone!

I've just recently returned to Sparks People and I've not quilted for a while. There are a couple of non-quilting projects that I want to finish before returning to my sewing room to start quilting again.

I'm feeling more energetic and active since returning to SparksPeople.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi,

I'm a quilter with too many UFOs, lots of stash, need to lose weight, and dealing with chronic pain.

It's hard trying to balance everything!

Years ago (about 10) I was active on sparkpeople and managed to loose 100+lbs, but stopped crafting to do it. I don't want to do that this time!

Welcome Ann! I was going to guess crochet for the "Hooker". I'm from Central Illinois and have two adult children and 4 grandchildren--15, 12, almost 3 and 1. So, I'm guessing I'm a bit older. Glad you joined our team. Join in on our topics. Linda

Ann--welcome from Wisconsin! Goodness, my brother and his family moved last summer to State College, PA. I've been quilting over 20 years now! I have a working treadle, an older Bernina and a new 740 Bernina. My Janome died after just 6 years of part time use (very disappointing a main computer board on it failed). I'm really looking forward to getting to know you.

Hello from Central Pennsylvania! I figured it was about time I joined a SparkTeam...and the quilters win...LOL! I can't promise I'll be a super active member, but I'll do my best to participate.

I have been quilting for five years. I am a Bernina owner (770 and Q20). I also have a Brother (that travels with me to sit & sews and retreats), an older Janome (that gets pulled out when my mom and daughter help sew quilt tops for the church), a Singer 201 and an old Singer Red Eye treadle that needs some attention.

I am married with two adult children (the "baby" is graduating from high school this week) and four cats. In addition to quilting, I am an avid knitter, crocheter and rug hooker (which explains my username). My favorite exercise is walking and I LOVE a good stretch!

I look forward to joining in on the fun with this group!

Hi, my name is Karen. I've been a quilter and fabric crafter/sewer for many years. I secretly wish I could quilt and craft 24 hours a day.
I live in north-west Florida with my husband and cat Stormy. We have two grown kids, one who lives close and the other is 8 hours away.
I've been a Sparker for many years, but fell off the wagon for a few years and recently became active again. I plan on sticking with my Spark program forever now!!
I have some chronic health problems and some of those cause me to not enjoy life fully most days. But, I try not to let that get me down.
I enjoy talking with other quilters and sewers, and look forward to getting to know you all

Welcome to the group! Jump in and have a great time. This is a really active group. Most of the action is on the first two threads, General Discussion and What Have You Accomplished. We also do monthly goal threads and various challenges throughout the year. This year we're tracking Stash Reduction (and sometimes increase) in State of the Stash. And Carol is running a row by row and is about to start a new quilting challenge in the next couple weeks. Bev collects crumb/string blocks from our group members and puts them together into quilts for Project Linus from the team. Participate as much or as little as you want to. Glad you joined us. :)

Good Day, all! I'm Michele, from Maryland.

This is a RE-introduction- I joined a while back but haven't been active on SP at all.But I joined a weight loss challenge at work that starts November 1, so I'm hoping that this will help with goals for that as well.

I quilt, crochet, and dabble in other crafts as well. Currently I'm working on a string baby quilt, putting together some crumb blocks,9-patch, looking for a border for a charity and thinking about sashing for blocks for a sampler quilt I *really* want to get put together.

emoticon Hello from a new member to Spark and the team! I do scrap quilting and charity quilts. I am a confused quilter who considers every quilt I manage to finish an "education" quilt because I learn something new each time. usually what NOT to do next time. Who knew there were so many different ways to do just about everything to do with quilting! I have too much invested in my stash to give up so I persevere. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you and maybe save myself some grief on my next project.

emoticon Hi! I'm Laurie, from Iowa. Hubby and I live in the country. We have 9 chickens at this point (one died yesterday), 1 dog, 5 cats that call the house their home most of the time, and numerous wild mama cats who just HAD to deliver their babies at our place this spring. We have 5 children - 1 boy with cerebral palsy and 4 girls. We homeschooled the girls and I taught them all how to sew and bought them each their own machines. I've sewn clothes and crafts for years, but starting quilting about 10 years ago. Got really into it for a few years and then just had to put it on the back burner. Life was busy enough with 5 graduations, 3 weddings, and 2 grandbabies (number 3 due within the next 2 weeks). Brought the quilting supplies back out for our grandson's quilt, which I'll add here (first flannel quilt for me). He was born with multiple holes in his heart and had 2 heart surgeries by the time he was 16 days old. He spent a fair share of 2017 at St. Mary's / Mayo in NICU. He was on life support more than once. Anyway, I stress eat and because of that, I put a few (and then a few more and then a few more) pounds back on over the last couple of years. At this point I'm working hard to balance working out, gardening, and quilting!

Hi, I'm Diane from Arizona. I am a retired. I have decided to get back on track and start losing weight. I saw this quilting group and couldn't resist. I am a relatively new quilter. I started taking a class last year. In September of 16 I started homeschooling my grandson so I had to put quilting aside for a while. I am slowly working on an applique quilt, Bloom, by Robert Riley. This is my first time trying applique. I love very country looking quilts. I have a stash ready to make about twenty quilts. Just waiting on the time. My grandson will be going to school in July so I will be free to quilt away!

Hi! I'm an avid quilter who is also trying to get back to fitness after a back injury. I live in the Cleveland, Ohio, area. I work fulltime editing legal textbooks, but I get to do it from home, so that is awesome. I finally got a really good sewing machine after years and years of struggling with a beginner's level Singer, and my goodness has my Janome made a difference in my quilting. I'm finally learning to really machine quilt, feathers and such, instead of just stitch-in-the ditch. I love the idea of being part of a group that shares a commitment to fitness AND to making beautiful things.
