Thank you for your suggestions.

Right now it's too cold for me to even think about exercising outdoors. I am making use of the (free) gyms in my hotels. I also dislike driving very much... Especially in snowy weather. If I am still here after winter, I look forward to checking out all the parks and mountains.

I am Vegan, so I do like that there is a Vegan store and restaurants here.

Whyshoshoni,

Yes I live in Lakewood, and love the proximity to the mountains. I just didn't want to give too much undue influence!

Welcome to Denver, Plibby. I noticed you are in the SE part of town right now. I am not certain of where they have the different exercise stations in parks. Eisenhower, which is near Colorado Blvd and Hampden (North a little ways) has some. There are a lot of people who really enjoy Washington Park. If you are into biking, the area along Cherry Creek is pretty nice for that. And running -- there are a LOT of 5ks. I have been finding out about a lot of them because one of my friends has gotten into them. I'd be lucky if I could get up to walking a 5k in the time allotted.

Hi Plibby!

I hope you are enjoying Colorado! Sounds like a good plan to check out the various areas before settling in. Each city has various neighborhoods within which can vary greatly. Obviously, your "perfect" place is dependent upon what is most important to you, whether it's great restaurants a five minute walk away, or being able to climb on your bike and ride the foothills trails in a matter of minutes.

Calista had some wonderful suggestions (Calista, do you live in Lakewood by chance, lol? I do!) Red Rocks is stunning and a great place to get some great activity. My daughter runs the steps whenever she's in town from Fort Collins. There also many trails throughout many of the Open Space areas.

I hope you enjoy your time in Colorado, and love it enough to stay!

Hi Plibby and welcome to Denver!

This group isn't very active now but hopefully some others will chime in.

Something unique to Denver is our foothills right at our western edge - be sure to visit Red Rocks - go on a nice mild day and you can get a superb workout by 'Running the Rocks'. The amphitheater can challenge any fitness level with a world class view. Hayden park at Green Mountain (Lakewood) has magnificent hiking / mountain biking trails, and Bear Creek Lake Park also has great trails. And these are just a couple for ideas - there are plenty more. A drive up Bear Creek Canyon (Morrison to Evergreen) is breathtakingly beautiful, as is Clear Creek Canyon (Golden to Central City).

Another special feature of Denver is our parks throughout the region - Washington Park, City Park, Cherry Creek Dam, Chatfield, and lots of smaller parks everywhere.

Have fun, and enjoy!

Hi, I'm Plibby!

I arrived in Denver just 2 weeks ago. My husband and I are considering moving here permanently, so we are living in hotels in Denver for the first couple of months while we figure out which neighborhood is the best fit for us. First was downtown, now Tech Center. Next week I will be in Cherry Creek, then Westminster and Lakewood after that. I am enjoying Denver so far. Hopefully I will get used to the dryness, and will overcome the lightheadedness when I stand up too quickly.

I am successfully eating a healthy plant-based diet here, as I share how in my blog:

I am perusing the content in this group, learning about farmers markets and co-ops for the future. I am appreciative of any other specific tips/ideas you all might have for me.
