I am so glad that you joined! I too joined yesterday (3/10/10) because i have similar goals. I need to lose quite a bit of weight (140 pounds) and discovered this site I swear by fate! I have found that it has already helped me get the motivation to start thinking about myself and my health in a better way.

Welcome to the team! Don't worry about the healthy cooking versus their wants, as I have three anti-healthy eaters and what they don't know won't hurt them. I choose recipes from Spark and they still get a lasanga or such, but it is better for all of us! BTW - he'll appreciate having you around in the long run, so tell him to just deal with it if he complains (been there did that to one when he saw what went in the new meatloaf).

Welcome to Spark People! I also came across this site by accident 12/24....I'm so happy I did.....I got busy and am 23#'s lighter and lots of inches less! The best part of all is that I'm feeling TONS better!

Hi my name is Iris. I just came across this site yesterday as I was googling "eating healthy". I am very impressed with what I have seen of it so far. I have a 15 yr old son, sho of course doesn't like anything "healthy" and I've gotten in the bad habit of cooking things he likes. The outcome is being 35 and severly overweight and becoming concerned with my health. Diabetes and hypertension run in my family so I am pretty lucky for them not to have affected me yet. But I can feel the weight in my bones and I don't want to be dead or unable to get around when I'm 50, so I've decided to get heathlier, and in turn probably loose some weight! Hopefully this is the answer to help me help myself! So hello all, I'm here to learn some new things and hopefully change my life!
