Nutritional yeast

Everything but the bagel seasoning

There's also one called "Spud Fixins" which has seasoned salt, onion etc... I forget who makes it but it's very tasty. Check the seasonings area in your grocery... there are a lot of mixed spices/ rubs that would work well.

Soft diet usually refers to a modified texture rather than specific foods. Do you know why your doctor prescribed this?

I second the conversation with your doctor and getting a referral to a Registered Dietitian (RD), especially if you are dealing with a health condition. Doctors usually know little about nutrition, hence the suggestion of getting a referral to an RD.

I would think that the no butter or butter spray indicates that it is more than just a soft diet. It sounds like it is also no fats or sodium.

You need to have a good conversation with your Dr and get him/her to give you a lot more information including what is to be left alone, and what you can eat freely. If this is going to be for quite some time ask for refer you to a Registered Dietitian. Sometimes you can phone the Hospital Dietitian and pick their brains. I have done that on more than one occasion and they have always been very willing to oblige, but you need to be able to tell them what your health issues are and why your Dr wants you on a soft diet.

I agree with Merle. I almost never use anything but a salt substitute (sparingly), pepper, and other vegetables on my baked potatoes. Some grocery stores have a good selection of "no salt added" canned and frozen vegetables. Cooked cabbage, corn, French-style green beans, peas, stewed tomatoes, etc. Anything that you like the flavor of and that adds moisture to the potato works. I have also found no salt added frozen French fries that I air fry and add NSA catsup to. (Hunts is the cheapest, but can be harder to find). As stated, press the Doc for a complete list of do eat and don't eat foods. Good luck!

Hi,

I really think you need to get a better understanding from your doctor as to what you can eat and what to avoid. I would hate to give you advice without know what it is your doctor recommends. Are you allowed to have cheese? If you can have other vegetables, you could try putting those on the potato.

My Doctor has me on a "Soft Diet."
No salt or butter. Not even butter spray.

I would like a baked potato, but what can I put on this to make it taste better?

Any suggestions of any thing I can add to my foods?
