JERF, I am figuring that out myself! If I focus too much on steps, I over do things and/or my other training suffers. I have lost a lot of strength for sure because of it!

I went through a phase where I tried to get 10,000 steps a day. However my other training suffered because of it. My weight training, yoga and biking slacked so I had to ease up on the steps in order to achieve more balance in my life.

Now I regularly get between 4,000 and 12,000 steps a day depending on my other activities. I don’t stress about it. Stress can make you gain weight!

My goal is 10000 steps a day. I love it when I exceed that goal.

I already use an activity tracker that counts steps. Historically, I have included treadmill miles in the event I use it, which I haven't in years because it aggravates my bad knee. My current daily step goal is 12,500 and I usually hit 15,000 and more.

Why eliminate steps on the "treadmill or stuff like that"?
Those count too!
