Happy Friday! This last morning of January I'm grateful for:

-The fun Kansas City Chiefs spirit happening ... at work and around the city ... leading up to the Superbowl (it's been 50 years since we won, so I get it)!
-Old friend of Beth's having a music brunch party Saturday to celebrate Gertrude Stein's birthday (always awesome musicianship to listen to)
-Dinner plans Saturday with friends not seen in too long
-Weather predicted to be 50s/60s over the weekend ... much needed winter break
-The healthy incentive exercise challenge at work being great motivation all week
-Starting the morning with our 10-minute cardio stairwell blast with a co-worker

Happy Wednesday! Here are highlights of what I'm grateful for today:

-Big fun listening to friend's new band last night and seeing lots of friends
-Safe drive in today on slick roads (with a mere 1/2-inch of snow)
-Our annual soup/salad day at work; I brought my spinach salad, my favorites and most unusual were the carrot soup and kale salad! Yum!
-No plans tonight - SO looking forward to a night at home
-Setting intentions for a TV workout hour tonight with my 3 little exercise buds
-Getting back in the good habit of using the standing stations at work, especially since they put two in on my floor; I walk slowly while working, but it's movement

Happy Saturday! This morning I'm grateful for all of this, and so much more:

-Starting my day listening to a new Kelley Hunt song and a new Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg (former Kansas poet laureate) poem, both called Jericho and inspired by Mary Chapin Carpenter's song Jericho - wow!
-Patreon.com, being able to help my artistic friends in a small way (as little as $5/month) and being treated first to new releases as described above
-Snuggling in bed with all three kitty girls while we all enjoyed Kelley's music and Caryn's words, what a perfect start to a lazy Saturday
-Great exercise yesterday, which I'm sure contributed to my solid night of rest
-A lovely dinner out with friends, with leftovers for another meal tonight
-The golden silence of this Saturday morning, hearing nothing but a cat lapping at her water bowl www.patreon.com

Happy Thursday!! This morning I'm grateful for:

-Keeping my co-worker supplied weekdays with an heirloom orange, a small gesture toward his ongoing family struggles with wife fighting Stage 4 cancer
-My mother, still having her to talk to, even if mostly by e-mail (we usually "arrange" phone calls to not disturb her schedule with my stepfather, who's blind and also dealing with three cancer struggles)
-Wow, the above making me appreciate my health even more!
-Taking up the 10-minute daily cardio stairwell blast again with a co-worker
-Phone call with my sister last night to discuss our trip further
-Rosie (my totally food-driven girl) making me laugh last night by licking the outside of the treat jar ... really, Rosie? This was AFTER dinner! Ha! emoticon

Today my gratitude list begins with

Waking up breathing this morning (many people don't)
Having working arms and legs
All my kids and grandkids are healthy and happy
I have a multitude of loving and loyal friends
And last, but certainly not least,
My sweet little pooch, Patience, is here as a constant reminder that life is good, and so is God.

There are many, many more, and that is a blessing too.

Dream BIG...Work HARD

And now abide Faith, Hope, Love, these three; but the greatest of these is Love.

Happy Tuesday!! Today I'm grateful for:

-Going to bed a bit earlier last night when feeling tired, and sleeping well (I try to balance listening to my body and pushing myself a bit and have to remind myself that I still work full-time, which takes lots of energy)
-Morning kitty play; so funny that they love the simplest things (wadded up paper used to pad packages)
-Sunshine on my drive to work; yesterday the sun struggled to appear
-Amazon seller responding promptly and saying they'll fix the error made in a used hiking book I ordered
-New health and dental insurances at work; will take time to learn the new ways of operation, but so many people have no insurance
-My company paying my beloved Arboretum $20/hour for my volunteer time

My many appreciations this morning include:
-Easy lesson learned before making mistake
-Getting my 6.5 hours sleep in two restful sessions
-Much fairer weather today
-Deposit and receipt of consignment check, with appropriate bookkeeping updates done
-Feeling especially glad my residence is no longer in Saudi Arabia*

*Reminding myself of the time in KSA when feeling my most isolation ever, how the experience of listening to "Rosewood and Silver" far exceeded any other musical appreciation with layers, nuances and harmonies that brought tears for it's total and exquisite beauty. The lesson of that forsaken isolation having another side that was breathtakingly rich. emoticon

A warm home with plenty of food and family that loves me.

On this first day of the "roaring 20s," I have so much to appreciate:

-The hopes and fresh beginnings associated with a new year/decade
-Being able to go back to sleep for a few hours after a restless night (maybe due to second shingles shot)
-Beth's music that I listened to and shared last night, including two songs written for me; she lives on in more ways than one
-Comforting three little kitties when fireworks went off at midnight
-Our comfortable, solid home
-Sunshine and temps to be in the 50s today
-Always, my health, I never want to take it for granted
