I love the positivity and such universal wisdom SP members impart in their posts. I also like to spend time within the platform to build a mindset for the day to sustain momentum in my personal goals. I turn to SP now in favor of the most popular social media platforms. Being able to do the following, because of SP:
emoticon 11-9-19 It is a beautiful Saturday!!!! Sunny & 75 degrees. I'm off to walk with friends in nature preserve,with friends! Starting to get ready to do the LV Santa 5K, Dec. 7. I received a promo from the group & I'm in the photo, fun! 15,000 Santa's. We are in the world book of records 9 years in a row, for MOST Santa's in 1 spot, world wide, LOVE it! I 'train' for it all year! I usually walk it. Not into running. Fun entertainment all morning long AND it is for charity!

OUR WEATHER HAS BEEN WEIRD TO SAY THE LEAST, TOO! down to 40 emoticon or less at night & highs of 78 to 80! emoticon Too cold to swim, though, REALLY miss it! Last week was VERY cold. My plants & palm trees haven't a clue what to do. We can only water 1 day a week. So I've been hand watering here & there! My Eyes, great again! We've been working on our wills & DH trust. Strange to do & think about, but I don't want others to have to deal with all these things! THX! Love you all! emoticon emoticon

(this is a top I'm thinking of buying, I REALLY like it, but it is 100% pollyester. Don't like that plastic fabric!)

I have lost 50# over the past two years. What motivates me to check in everyday is that I don't want to gain the weight back. I need accountability. Reading the inspirational and motivational blogs/articles helps keep me on track. I don't ever want to go back there. I am also competitive (with myself mostly) and love streaking!

emoticon for you! Today is my 2,787 days of sparking, EVERYDAY!

11-2-19 Our 44th anniversary, emoticon yesterday was SO special. We had dinner on top of the world. It was perfect, (except I over ate) Lot's of walking & sight seeing. DH gave me 44 gas car fill ups. I gave him a detailed car cleaning for his car. It came out beautifully! We REALLY take good care of our cars, AND each other. We are still on our Honeymoon. Met in High school. Yes, we have our ups & downs, but try really hard at keeping our romance alive. Lot's of work, but worth it!

This is my longest streak 236 days spinning the wheel every morning before 7:00 a.m. I like taking time for myself reading some of the daily blogs of my friends. It is a reminder at one time I had lost 70 lbs and have managed to keep 60 lbs off more or less! emoticon

First of all, I need to track my food and exercise to keep my in line! If I don't pay good attention, I could easily go overboard. Secondly, and it's a little silly I think, but I really enjoy getting points! They are fun and make the whole process enjoyable, like a game.

What keeps me coming back is the positive attitude that I find here. I love being part of a community where we are all facing that same big challenge. We have good days and bad days but we just keep trying.

I enjoy the blogs - I love people's honesty in the stop-start process of developing a healthy lifestyle. The successful stories are an inspiration and the stories about challenges, problems and setbacks help me to keep going by reminding me that I'm not the only one doing this in a 'three steps forward, one step back' kind of way!

I like the articles about nutrition, exercise and motivation. They are full of useful information which help me tweak my lifestyle so that I can constantly improve it.

Mostly though, it's the friends I've made. I love chatting and swapping ideas with people who are interested in the same things as me. It's great fun!

I have been with Spark People since 2012. At first I thought it was a waste of time but I continued because my weight had skyrocketed due to the medications that I had to take because of an accident that I had in 2011. I did keep with it because Sparking gave me the closest thing to a schedule to keep and made me feel good and when I started to lose some of the weight I had gained, Sparking became my buddy, my friend and my life changed. Friends I am meeting AND NOT breaking my SP streak of 2,758 days!

About me today;
emoticon 10-4-19 I get another emoticon in my goal book for staying between 80-100% a day. Includes exercise, eating, & taking care of me; mentally; emotionally & spiritually. It's been a emoticon week! down 5# since I have 're-focused' on my goals, starting 9-17-19! emoticon Yesterday was a HUGE emoticon day, I had some stress about our dog, LUCY's health from the vet emoticon she's OK, but surly getting older. (She's 15 in November)A new medication for her. DH wanted Burger King on our way home & I DIDN'T GET ANYTHING!!!! I was thinking of an IMPOSSIBLE burger, but can't find the ingredients & won't eat if I don't know, came home & eat my homemade veggie chicken soup & "naked" brand Popcorn. I am down another # today. I always KNOW when I am doing GREAT, because I am excited to weigh in (on Fridays & tell my SP friends) emoticon to EACH of you for supporting me, emoticon Couldn't do it without you!!!! emoticon I'm volunteering, performing my marionette show, tomorrow at Nature Preserve, adding autumn marionettes. Sure to be a blast! emoticon

Well for the most part it is a way of keeping myself accountable. I have been struggling a bit with checking in on SP lately due to circumstances in my life but I am really really trying to stay focused on ME. I need to make sure I take care of ME.

Life would be much more upbeat if there was just background music no matter when or where you were doing things.

It would also be more fun if people didn't look at you funny when you danced to the music down the sidewalk ha ha~

I love how positive being here is. SparkPeople has always been here for me and no matter how much I stray I always come back. Getting rid of the ads made the experience even better. I need to take better care of myself again and coming here is the foundation. I love it!

I'm 5'8" and determined to make a change now. Ten minutes of fitness daily. Too many times I've fallen off the wagon, time to make long lasting positive habits stick. Can I do it?!

I recently got my motivation back and I feel like I'm more likely to stay motivated if I come to see how all the Sparkpeople are doing. It keeps me from slipping up and keeps me out of the refrigerator when it would be easy to sit and eat all day.

For me I think it's mostly stubbornness that's turned into a habit, that falls back on stubbornness when I don't feel like it. :-P I'm doing better now that I have it on my phone as well as coming here at my desktop computer. Sometimes I log my dinner right after eating because I want to see if I have any wiggle room for my sweet tooth and I can't remember.

The accountability of checking everyday keeps me focused on my weight. I weigh myself everyday. I also have years of food preferences entered in the Nutrition tracker so I would not change "weightloss" websites because I track my food daily.

I will lose 95 pounds in 2019 (goal of 160 lbs).
Restart Sept 1, 2018, 300 lbs, New Goal Weight 160 lbs
I want to reach 200 lbs by Sept 1, 2019

Original Starting weight 283 lbs, July 9, 2013
Goal Weight of 160 lbs Reached Nov. 26, 2014!

I like the accountability. Love reading all the posts in the community feed. See some of the triumphs make me know I can achieve my goals as well.

I check-in with SparkPeople every day.

When I joined SP I just explored.

I realized coming here every day would motivate me. It worked! emoticon

The first few years were really tough. I was in denial and needed to learn a lot. Reading the articles, blogs, and posts on the message boards got me closer. I joined a couple of teams.

There was tons of support.

I kept on coming back to spin that silly wheel. emoticon

It became a lifestyle for me. I feel like there's something missing if I don't check-in.

It is good to see people who care about eating well, staying active and being at a healthy weight. This attitude is quite rare in Real Life, so it is good to see like minded people.

-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood

-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings

I decided I would do the thing, so I'm doing it. Realistically though, I know myself well enough that I added Spark to my home page tabs on both my work and home computer. So everyday, I will get here automatically, and once here, the rest follows more easily. Good to take the 'getting started' step OUT of my hands each day. :)

For the longest time I didn't check in at sparkpeople and I gained alot of weight. So I started checking in again and started tracking my diet and exercise. I have lost weight. I am not at my goal weight yet but checking in helps in holding me accountable for my weight loss.

I log in every day too! My current streak is 523 days. My previous streak was broken in February 2018 when I went on a cruise with my parents and I didn't want to spend $$$ for internet. We got to stop in Havana, Cuba so you better believe breaking the streak was worth it. The streak I was on then was broken by another cruise with my entire family to Alaska to celebrate my dad's retirement.

I have been using SP since March of 2009. I started as a way to maintain my then 80 pound weightloss. I regained 40 of that due to a mocking ex husband but I keep coming back to keep an eye on my nutrition and for some of the friends I have made, of whom I count Kris as one.

I was active daily prior to my streak breaking, too. It only got broken because I went on holiday to Canada to visit my son.

What motivates me doesn't boil down to one thing.

I joined SP for the Nutrition Tracker, so I log everything in there daily. (That allows me to stay on track nutritionally.) I also enjoyed reading the various articles on Nutrition and Motivation, and would spend a very long time reading them, going from one to another (and forgetting about food - LOL!)

Then after about a year, I also came for the message boards. Now I come to SP for the friendship. I have formed some really good friends over the years.

A lot of people log in daily for the support.
