Everyone will struggle with motivation from time to time. Since this a life journey, realize you don't need to be "motivated" 100% of the time. You just have to "do it anyway" no different than cooking, cleaning, going to work, or brushing your teeth.

The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg is an amazing read. I think the biggest problem people have is they set themselves up to change everything about their lives one day on a dime, and that's a sure set up for failure for most people. Most people need to make one small baby step at a time and build up from there.

-google first. ask questions later.

Oh yes! You are NOT alone!! Almost everybody I know has struggled with motivation. I still struggle, off and on. We all have bad days!

I love what the prior posters say - Rebecca gave some wonderful ideas. I have another suggestion to add. Go to the Community tab above and the last option is Spark Stories. Take a look at Beth Donovan's story - or any number of others. They are pretty amazing stories that filled me with inspiration, that then moved me right on into motivation.

All of this said, remember that just a small step at a time can add up to a huge difference over time. Pick 1 or 2 small things to work on ... and conquer them!! Then pick something else.

You CAN do this! And SparkPeople has all the tools you need - for free!

Good luck on your journey!

I just don''t feel very positive today. I can''t believe I let myself get so far down the path of obesity. I don''t know how to begin to turn it all around. When I look in the mirror, I don''t even know the woman looking back at me. It looks and feels so hopeless. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Yes indeed I struggled until I became 50 pounds overweight.

The Key to my motivation came in my 100% resolve to reclaim my life. Extra weight was making so many negative impacts on my life from stress on my knees and lethargy to being embarrassed that I had let myself get fat.

The only way for me to regain the dignity for myself, claim my power was to respect myself enough to do all it took to make all the healthy choices that changed my lifestyle to one that supports my joy.

Do this for you. Make a list of all the advantages changes this will make in your life and list the things you will do to create a healthy mindfully empowered you. Keep posting here, I look forward to hearing the ways you find your motivation...it is there!!

Many do.
Motivation comes from within. You have to want it bad enough.
