Louise, I just said a prayer for you.

Perhaps you are trying to do too much at once. What about picking one or two small things to change and stick with that for a month? Perhaps weigh and measure yourself at the beginning and end.

I picked up a book on Amazon that I stumbled across that it helping me - - it's a slow road. I want bigger changes now as I am backsliding, but the book has helped. Forgive the title, it's called "Lazy B*tches Weight Loss Journal" or guide, something like that. Although a funny book, it has ideas that I'm using with moderate success.

Also consider seeing a priest. There are churches that speak to people and counsel people who are not even members.

Whatever you choose, please know that you are not alone.

Normally, when feeling very down, we can use advice and techniques to get ourselves feeling better again. This is because our brain is functioning okay.

With clinical depression, it may not be possible to get oneself better by psychological means, because the brain is ill. Just as the liver or the heart or the kidneys need medication when ill, so does the brain. I have personal experience of suffering this.

You need to see a Doctor about depression, Louise.

If nothing good has happened to you, make your own magic.
I am 63, without living family and ill. If I didn't work at being positive, I'd still be hiding under the covers every day. I can't wait for someone else to lift me up and neither should you.
It's not that I don't empathize with the horrible lost feeling. I do. I have battled crippling depression for 40+ years. It is just that the best help I ever received was my own.

It has been three days, Louise, without hearing from you.
Are you alright?

I know when you're down in a "pit" it's heard to look up. Really? NOTHING nice has EVER happened to you? Just trying to help here find one thing. ONE thing. No family, kids, friends, house, car ... anything? I'm so sorry you are in pain. What do you do best? What do you like to do?

Sounds like you might benefit from professional help.
Give your doctor a call for a referral!

sorry to be so heavy (in both ways) but it is my life
