ring my downward spiral, I gained 6 pounds in a week. Since a decision was reached, I've lost 4.5 pounds in a short time.

I plan my meals and don't go over calorie range, do some form of exercise log-in to SP daily and do 2 challenges a month. I am confident that I will see a lost this month even after a 6 lbs gain. !0 days to go.

This month came with a lot of stress and depression. Today it was resolved and happy with our decision. Hope I can now focus on my program! A decision I better than not taking any and then pursue your goal and live with the decision you make - good or bad, you'll be a winner. Talking to myself here emoticon

I feel no hunger but don't meet my calorie lowest range, even with a snack... As for my water drinking I'm doing better than I thought! not been less than 64 so far - 88 today emoticon
Looking forward to weigh-in on the 6th and 7th emoticon

I'm upset with myself. Last night, we went to a surf and turf buffet, again! Twice in a month.

Today, I have set up my plan for next month. I even have a buddy on SP now. I will weigh-in twice a week. Every Tuesday is my weigh-in day and again on Fridays.

I looked up my minimal calorie intake for the day and divided this number by 3. This should be my gauge for the number of calories for each meal. I also added a snack of 100 calories.

Exercise is a must. I'll walk 10 minutes a day and add other types of exercise daily.

My water intake will be no less than 56 ounces but will work hard to drink my 64 ounces a day!

This is my plan for March but I started today. No time like the present to take action

Making good choices in the moment requires three skills:

1. the ability to recognize your innate hunger and satiety signals;
2. the ability to distinguish between hunger, appetite (preferences, habits, tastes), and impulse;
3. the ability to stay grounded in your self and your goals so that it is you making the decisions—not hunger, appetite, impulses, or your diet rules.

Step 1: Organize Your Eating
Using the low end of your calorie range, divide those calories into a good breakfast, a moderate lunch, a mid-afternoon snack, a good dinner,

Step 2: Stick to This Plan—No Matter What
No extra eating, no skipped meals, no excuses.

Step 3: Keep an Accurate, Detailed Food Journal
Note how you feel before and after each meal, including physical sensations (especially the hunger and satiety level)

Step 4: Draw Your Conclusions
If you spent a lot of time feeling the physical sensations of hunger, it’s safe to assume you weren’t getting enough food. If your desire to eat outside of your plan was due to anxiety, emotional discomfort, resentment or boredom, you can use your journal to identify the situations, thoughts, and feelings that triggered the urge to eat and find ways to manage them without turning to food.

Took my weight this morning and will do the above for a week so my next weigh-in will be on March 7. I'm keeping track in my "HEALTH IS A MUST" journal

Finally the emoticon is now moving down after 4 days at the same place. I might just reach my goal yet for the month of February.

I gradually added exercise back after 3 weeks. It sure helps to move! emoticon
I'm also doing a challenge of emoticon which also helps to lose weight among many other benefits.
Paying more attention to food choice. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Looked up at my graphic progress of weight loss and I'm not where I should be today.... Happy I looked it up. It enforces my commitment to do better. emoticon

I started to walk in the building doing laps on our floor 3 times a day and increasing one lap a day. I added it to my to-do list. emoticon . I'll also add emoticon every day and do as much as I can tolerate to begin with. Last week I barely made 3 minutes and had to stop.

As for nutrition, I'll be drinking at least 48 oz of water, be mindful of salt intake and cut down on sugar to one small piece of sweets a week. Important to my health that I lose weight, do what I can to increase my DIA - which is at 44 this morning - and be fit enough to travel. emoticon . I dropped the walker yesterday. Yeah!

Had a few run-ins to the hospital. At this point any cardio or heavy strength exercise are off limits but tomorrow, I'll be easing in 5 to 10 minutes as much as can be tolerated....

I hope I can reach my goal this month - time is of the essence...

Worrying will not protect me from the future. Worrying will only keep me from living the present moment and eat away my energy to live it up, today! Did worry ever helped you? I dare say NEVER emoticon I must remember this.

I did reach my weight goal a little early this month. Time to set new ones for February.

I will be below 208.9 lbs by the 29th of February.
Now this is going to be a little harder as my physical is not allowing me to do much cardio right now but I'll concentrate on strength exercise and be very mindful of what I eat. I must get back to drinking water too.
Specific goals are; Exercise 500 minutes in the month.
Stay within calorie range of 1000/1400.
Drink 40 oz of water daily.
Login daily.

I'll be happy if by the 31rst of the month, I weighed 214 pounds. I was hoping to be 210 but having doubts about it happening. Sister coming for a week from away and lots of celebrating as we haven't been together in 49 years all the family for Christmas. Looking forward to the company but not the added calories. I'll be as careful as I can....

I had a rough month of November. Being followed closely by doctor and specialist. Was not well enough to go to my sister's 75th birthday emoticon as planned for years.

One thing for sure, even if the swelling is bad, I didn't quit Eating Healthy. So despite the swelling, I'm again losing. Imagine when I lose all the water retained! emoticon emoticon

10/18/19: The last 2 days I added a fitness challenge. Today was lower body. I can't do them as good as them but do the most and best I can. Age and flexibility plus arthritis are not in my favor compare to the instructor - lol. I still keep my cardio exercises going. Find those easier then the strength exercises.

Yesterday I didn't eat bread, pasta or meat. I stayed with vegetables and scallops, cereal, veggie stir fry and corn chowder.

In the last 2 days, I lost 1.5 pounds that I gained back, after having lost them this week. Still one pound to go on the gained pounds. Then I'll be back at 224 and have 4 to lose to reach my monthly goal. Hopeful!

I want to be 220 pounds by October 31rst. I know it's doable!
To achieve my goal, every day I will be mindful of what I choose to eat, restrict my eating to 3 times a day, keep exercising daily and add strength exercise to my cardio. I must drink more water - at least 32 oz a day.... hard one.
I'll weigh-in daily to keep me accountable. I must do this!!!!!

This week in the nutritional department, it's no eating after dinner...hum hard one!
My week begins on Wednesday and ends on Tuesday next week. I have reset my tracker last Wednesday. Weigh-in is today. 221.5 - a 5.5 lbs lost

OMG BP is now up to 139/61 and pulse 52This is the best! 61? Haven't seen that in the longest time! So excited. That's why I feel the energy to move. I had stopped taking my BP for a bit as I Knew it was low by my energy level which was very low but the last few days felt so much better. Sorry for rambling on but so excited. And yes the swelling is back, even my face, my eyes are nearly shut and my feet overflow my shoes Now it's to get that under control and I'll be just as good as new - I wish - LOL

IMAGINEJOY: Thank you so much for sharing. WOW I am so impressed by what you do! It inspires me. I bought a box of cereal loaded with fibers; 1/4 cup is all I need a day. I put yogurt, then cereal then peaches or blueberries to top for breakfast At the Y is it expensive to join? I should check it out.... The exercise in the pool don't have a great impact on the knees and would be great for me

Oops! Back at 220 this morning but it's ok. Still on target. Yesterday DH treated me to a lovely dinner at Swiss Chalet. Once a month isn't the rule so it's ok.

So excite to start this new month with my new plan and grill in my HEALTH IS A MUST binder. On my way to success

Hello I have been successful these past few weeks and am so grateful as I have been on and off the wagon for a long time now. For the past 2 weeks I have been diligently logging every morsel and using the nutriion log to prepare my food for the next day. I usually copy meals over if I still have leftovers. As I go thru the day, I may switch and change my plan as I see the differnt categories going up too high or too low.

In addition, I am doing 150 minutes weekly at the YMCA. I am in 2 deep water aerobic classes which I really enjoy and then do 1 silver sneakers class. My goal is to keep eating within the Sparkpeople guidelines. I see there was a lot of talk about fiber I keep Fiber One cereal on hand and a can of beans. If I see my fiber intake too low, I add a 1/2 cup of either of these to my menu

Be stronger than your strongest excuse.

I'm at 220 today and still have a half a pound to lose this week. According to the weight lost calculator, to meet my goal by December 31, I have to lose 1 1/2 pound a week to achieve my goal weight for the year 2019.

Was up a lot through the night to use washroom. This morning I'm down to 221 so a 2 lbs loss. I wonder if I'll be up again after I drink my water today.... A lot of water retention!

Plan my meal for today. Lunch will be our main meal of the day.

This morning my DH made breakfast while I got our stuff ready for a trip to Bathurst to celebrate DGD graduation. Well needless to say when I tracked my meals the calories were over the range 1200-1500. So no snack or nothing else for me today. And tomorrow is a new day and of course a new beginning. I don't do this often but it's ok to fall of as long as it's not every day Right?

My DIA is at 38 this morning so it explains my low energy. And I just took my med! Hope it doesn't go any lower emoticon My BP is so unpredictable.

Today I have to do my 30 minutes of exercise and being it's so beautiful out I wil take my walker and go for a walk. I also need to get my new med.

My kidneys are drying out - vicious circle; taking pills to eliminate water and swelling because of heart again and kidneys are drying so ask which is worse? didn't get any real answer except to consume more water. Will take bllod test again on July 31rst Venting Sorry

Happy Father's Day to the Dad's in your life!

This morning was weigh=in for the week for me and I'm down to 223 so I'm happy about that. The inches lost were a total surprise to me so DH was right when he was saying my tummy went down and clothes look a better fit.

I did set my SMART goals again for the week and figure I'll reach my goal weight by August 31, 2020. - long term. Working on reaching 180 by December 31,2019.
Had a set back this month in lbs but great in inches... But the scale is moving again. Concentration on more water (neglected this the past week) and on nutritional report to get all nutrients needed.

slept very well through the night. Feel rested and energized.

Did a lot of chores already around the house.

I'm doing my morning and nightly steps to have a great in between day.

This week I'm also committed to exercise 30 minutes a day and to eat all my meals at the table and not in front of TV or computer.

The scale told me carrot cake is not worth it. Disappointed with myself in a sense but then it was good and there is no more. Starting a new week with my new food guide. Should be interesting. I also changed my "other goals" Having a lot of problem sleeping - only 3 hours last night and being generous!

Went to several yard sales this morning with my sister and found a few treasures; a lovely covered lined peck with cover for my yarn at 3$ and two Danielle Steele books 50cents each are just a few of my findings

I should learn to log my meals before eating! I had a piece of Costco carrot cake that took nearly half of my calorie intake today! Shish! Good thing I was careful every where else. I'm 39 calories from being over No miracle weigh-in expected tomorrow morning... just maintenance if that!

Like I said this week sees an increase in weight for me. I'm up to 223.8. I know I did some exercise but had to much sitting time to burn all the calories of the week. I'm getting a little better but still use my walker to take my walk, weather permitting... rain again today.

I'll change my ticker Sunday like usual....

Went to a dietician class this morning. The new Canada Food guide - Eat Well. Live Well. Loved it. Learned so much and tasted a new recipe - Cuban style rice and black beans - prepared in little time and delicious! Haas all kinds of needed nutrients in it. Motivated more than ever to eat better, at home, at the table. Tape guide to fridge.

Don't like the numbers on the scale; the Chinese buffet was excellent but now have to work extra hard to be where I want to be by Sunday morning. My menu today is done. Today we had an unexpected trip to Bathurst. DBIL turned 80 today and the brothers got together He had been sick the same tie as DH but what a surprise to see how he deteriorated. He was the lively type and now he just sits, barely talk etc. My Dh and I were really affected by his state. And his twin brother was admitted in the hospital after spending the night. My niece just contacted us and said he'll have a pacemaker and she'll keep us posted as to when and where it will be done.. So 2 of his brothers are not doing so well..... We're in that age group that tomorrow is not a promise. Happy we went but again hard to see...

We went to our fav restaurant House of Lee and their Chinese food is the best. Then we headed back home.

Beautiful blue sky and sunny day! We're going to Centennial Park this afternoon and will take a walk around the pond. There are benches to sit and picnic tables too so will have lunch .

Today would be my grand-son's 31rst birthday. Miss him so much! I wish my DD lived closer as I know how difficult a day it is for her... Prayers for both

Before taking the shuttle, I got a call from the hospital to go for a test for my legs before meeting the specialist. Shish that was sore!!! I had tears rolling down and moaning too. Told the they were nice ladies but hope I never had to take that test again, The results is my arteries are looking good but not the veins so I'll get a prescription from the specialist when I get my appointment, so they said. They also said I'll have a bad leg day tomorrow- more pain!

I had purchased 2 smaller diner plates a few weeks ago. Today I purchased one-cup nappies for dessert and smaller bowls than what we now eat soup and cereal in. Downsizing our portion feels like we're not eating with large bowls and smaller portion. Love my new dishes.

DGD called and I called DGS today - just nice checking in and hear about there news.

Did 30 minutes or ore of exercise today 4626 steps today so far

The scale is telling me that I'm getting closer to my monthly goal. Only 2 more days left. for the end of May.

I had a nice walk and it was so nice out for a change yesterday. Today is sunny and cloudy... wonder if we'll get showers....

This afternoon we go bowling with a bunch of friends and both DH and I are looking forward to it.

I slept well last night - finally! So shower time and get dinner ready for when we get back.

Today is a bright sunny day. I'll walk to the clinic. I have very low energy lately. I'm really dragging my feet???? Maybe a walk will stimulate me. I do exercise every day but inside as we had poor weather,,,,

I had turkey for lunch and pork steak for dinner, It's to much calories for me to lose any despite the exercise which was only 26 minutes yesterday. I must do my 30 minutes today.

will see how the day goes...I'm not depressed about anything but just have no go/energy???

I read about BMI and a healthy number is between 18.5 and 25.so I have work to do but I'll achieve this.

My computer is a great tool. Ask anything you want and it has the answer. It's for me to design my own program with the tools I have. Whatever works, right?

My first step was to write down why I had to lose weight, what my healthy weight should be and what I was ready to do to achieve my goal.

My BMR is 1605.55. my BMI is 37.44, Obesity class 2!

BMI is between 35-39.99 (Obese Class 2)
If you have a BMI of 35-39.99 your risk of weight-related health problems and even death, is severe. See your doctor and reduce your weight to a lower BMI.

This is enough to ensure that I keep losing weight. Eating healthy and exercise is a must for me!

Well here it's a beautiful sunny day too. DH and I went for a long walk on Main Street and stopped at Tim Horton's for a coffee break - one coffee/ 2 cups. I needed to stop for my knee pain but in minutes I could do more, We stopped at the market talking to a friend from our building and then made it home. I think I'll sit on our veranda and quilt on a lap quilt I'm nearly done.
Tomorrow is my official weigh-in on Sunday's I believe it will be lower than Friday.... We'll see

Well I just got back from my 6 month evaluation and I have overall improved but for my weight. I'm not worried as I'm faithful in my calorie intake. She's sending me to a dietician so I can learn stuff like what to eat to be in my range in fiber, potassium, folate, calcium vitamin D ext. That should be interesting. I also put in my 200 minutes a week in exercise cardio and strength combine.

weigh-in 227.0 An increase but that's ok. Next week I hope to see better results.

Tonight my sister and I are going to play Bingo. Haven't done that in over a year for sure so we are both looking forward to a fun evening

Yesterday I drank 7 glasses of water WooHoo! Ate within calorie range, went bowling and did some stationary biking

This morning I went shopping; got us each 2 pairs of shorts for him and knee knockers for me. So excited about losing the weight; this is our way to reward ourselves instead of restaurants like before.

So much to be grateful for that it's hard to contain all the excitement emoticon

Yesterday, I ate my larger meal at dinner instead of at lunch and the scale reflected an increase in weight. I was under my calorie goal and drank 48 onces of water. So today, I'll eat my larger meal at lunch again and watch my calorie intake at dinner. we'll see how that works out....

Had a great date night with DH last night. The only thing is that we came home and had a snack, something I normally don't do...

This week I plan to: 1; keep drinking my 40 ounces of water. 2; eat healthy, 3; exercise at least 10 minutes a day, 4; finish my 28 day program.

One day at a time, getting it done and creating new habits

Didn't exercise yesterday but will for sure this afternoon. Yesterday was a busy; took the shuttle at 9;30 and did groceries, shopped for great-grand-niece B'Day present, got home at noon, put away groceries and went for a hair cut. Got home made dinner and sat to watch my program , then up to shower, get ready and out the door at 3;45 for our Banquet. Got home it was 7;55.

After being on the go all day it was nice to sit and just make the sketch for grand-son's quilt, colors and how much fabric for each color. I'll go shopping Tuesday next week for the fabric....

I wanted to lose at least 80 pounds. I was 248 at my heaviest. I weigh-in the first day of the month but also weekly on Sunday morning - change my weight tracker then too.

Now if I break this big goal into monthly goal and lose 5 pounds a month, It would be losing a total of 1.25 pounds a week. That is doable and reasonable.

It also says we should have more goals. So a big one for me is to make Jonathan his quilt before we leave for Montreal on November 13th. It's handmade so takes a while to do for a queen size bed. I better make goals for that soon too. Pick up the fabric is the first step. so early next week I'll see to that and begin but first I have to make the design that's in my head and put it on paper, with dimensions.

Yesterday, I didn't do exercise per say bur worked around the house in the morning - even took the swing set out - and went shopping in the afternoon.

I did lose again so I'm staying active and eating healthy. Happy with my results as I have reached my goal for the week as it is this morning!

Must find time to squeeze in my minutes for a walk today. It's very windy! Taking out summer clothes and putting away winter clothes today too.Today is kitchen day as well as laundry needs to get done

So much to do today and so little time to do it! Oh well, what are tomorrows for? If I can't get it all done, I'll do it tomorrow - no pressure!

I decided to join back in Spark. I want to lose some 40+ pounds
I replaced drinking tea with water most of the time - have a pitcher full every morning and drink it plus some.
I know I have to exercise so I'll commit to 3 times a week for now but I might do more.
I cut down on food too.

Had a great day yesterday. I had lunch and dimmer at the restaurant. Dinner was a buffet style and it went well until I fell in the dessert section; I ate more sweets than I should have. But it's OK. It's not going to blind me from seeing my goal. I will eat healthy today and be happy about yesterday..

When I first started on April 14th, I couldn't do 5 minute walk in a stretch - had to stop and sit in my walker. Today, 25 days later, I just walked 13 minutes in one stretch, no stop, without my walker. I had walked 15 minutes this morning aided. So have a total of 28 minutes of walking at a great speed compared to my first 5 minutes in April. I am so excited!

Thank you Marilyn for the invite and prayers. I joined your 2019 tread as it suits me better. I have visited many times

The scale didn't move from yesterday but very happy with my lost for this week from Sunday. I will report tomorrow for the purpose of this tread but will only change my ticker Sunday morning which is my official weigh-in day

I'm happy that I eat healthier, discovering how good natural food can taste and changing for healthy habits as well. My goal is to be healthy and I will be - I was never so determined as I am now.

Today I ask DH for a good pair of walking shoes for my upcoming birthday instead of going to the restaurant - that would only add calories. WE went shopping right away for them. Better choices Happy Mama!!

will be going for a walk later Made good food choices for the day as well.

Woohoo! I slept well last night 9.5 hrs is just great! I feel rested and ready for the day.
I also see the scale moving down. Finally and I hope it keeps that way.

I read on Spark a lot and saw that I could cook meals in batches and have some leftover divided into meals for future days I did that yesterday so now have 2 meals each frozen in the freezer. Good on our bowling days when we get home hungry and quick to heat up. I froze them in one person size meal.

Well, of I go to do chores

Happy day to all. Especially my DGD who is starting her last year of teens! So very proud of this little one xoxo

One of my favorite quotes is by Dante: "From a tiny spark may burst a mighty flame."
My small spark in April was that I can lose weight. It will burst in me achieving my ultimate weight goal.
This week also add in my goals; reduce portions
add more activities
I know it took a lot of time for me to get out of shape so it may take time to get it off but it will !!! I'm determine to lose weight and restore some of my health back.

Note, people on our diabetes management program cannot change their carb, protein, and fat goals. Copied from my nutritional report. So these are the nutritional elements I will focus on this week. Also I didn't achieve drinking 40 ounces of water a day, last week... this too, I will achieve this week. These are my goals for the weekmay 5-11

This tread is a place to journalize and share the ups and down of my journey or anyone else's who wants to join.
For me it's a battle to lose and not easy - but I need to concentrate and move forward. I work hard despite my limited mobility My health is so important to me and I need to do all I can not to get wheelchair bound, I want to preserve my autonomy, stay home with my DH and not in a Home. I don't want to rust in place. This site gives me the freedom and all the help I need to accomplish this. I m very grateful for Spark People.
Have a great week and I'll keep posting my accomplishments, my struggles and my weigh-in. Have a great journey. I read today that no journey is the same for anyone as everyone is different.

Yesterdays therapy was cancelled and put back to Monday morning at 8 a.m.

I lost the transmitter for my heart machine and DH and I looked for it even tuned the car upside down every purse, pockets, drawers, even office pencil tray!!! Buying a new one is expensive but need it so Monday, I'll have to make an appointment to get it replaced. DH had mentioned buying me a chain so I could wear it around my neck as it's one of my complaints having to carry a purse every time we go out the door. And that very day, I lost it! Shishhhh

my weight it up and down all this week, One day I'm 231 the next 220.8 the next 230 Today it's 230.6 My weigh-in day that I track in my journal is tomorrow morning....hummm Don't know what that is going to look like....

So off I go to the market before it closes at noon

Have a great weekend everyone

Yesterday, I was up at 231 but was 229 Sunday. I didn't understand that as I was fatefully logging my food and never over calorie goal. The only thing I could see was water retention. This being said, I'm again back down to 229 minus. So it had to be water retention.

I hope that if you do go up on the scale, you know you've been doing all you should, don't give up. It will show you the right numbers in a few days if not the next.

The banquet serves homemade food and it's usually very good. I will be careful to how much of it I eat to stay in my calorie range. I'm really pumped about this journey!

Tomorrow at therapy I will be evaluated and progress if any will be recorded. It should be the last session: excited about that!!!
